I know they released a Japanese version of the album in which they got more songs (Takin' A Chance, Higher Love) - never understood why there had to be a difference.

You should react to the music videos first then the live versions where she would change it up every time The best live Ive seen of those two songs are Freedomfest, Wembley Arena 1988 How will I know and I wanna dance with somebody Arista 15th anniversary 1990. Dont take too long to react to the music video and live veraion so youll remember the original to spot the differences
I believe dance music was very popular at that time and even through the 90s and 2000s than it was in the states. Thats why a lot of European artists that did this type of music were so popular but had only modest success in the states. That type of music was present in the states but didnt reach its peak until way later.
