    Such a helpful video! It's a little advanced but for people having trouble getting the item color accurate using their phone, they might want to know they can set their color calibration easily using a grey card. I was frustrated with my iPhone's tendency to get the color wrong and got the Procamera app and a small grey card - and I recalibrate color easily. (It's the white balance)

      @@TheChaChingKing If you want to, sure. It made a big difference for me once I learned how to do it. My iPhone tends to make indoor photos done with photo lighting a little yellow and when I see that I just reset the white balance with the Grey card.

    Hey Scot: Another great video >> One thing I would add would be to take as many photos as eBay allows, currently 24 photos are allowed. I take photos of an item that I would like to see if I were looking for the same item, I look at other seller’s listings and I will try to outdo any competition that I might have on the same item with better and more photos. Good photos take a while to edit and crop, the more photos the better, because most buyers will only look at the photo and not read the description. All photos are taken with my phone/camera, I will then upload all the photos on to my PC to start the editing process. I use two set ups with multiple lights to help eliminate shadows. Of course, I will prep the item by cleaning and something I will use polish to make it stand out. I sell a lot of vintage vacuums. Many times I will also upload a video showing the item working, this is by far the best way to show the buyer that I have tested the item and the does work correctly, I try to keep videos under one minute.

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  Год назад +1

      100% great advice. I completely agree with trying to create a superior listing. I think it helps sell items and keeps them sold. A really clear listing keeps the buyer from being surprised.
      As a side note, I worked for a brief time after high school repairing vacuums. 😆

    Thanks for so much valuable information. It's worth considering that you can lose color quality, pixel count, and overall photo quality with apps that remove backgrounds or create collages. Therefore, their setting should be checked before extracting the modified image. It is best if it is a setting that matches the original or average Ebay requirement. If the images are uploaded to Ebay with the maximum number of pixels, the quality may work slower for some buyers because it requires a certain quality of the Internet for download speed.

    I'm interested to know more of the workflow - Do you create the listing from the same phone, or do you transfer the photos to a PC? Or, do you transfer to a PC and pull the photos from a cloud service (like Google Photos) that is synched to the phone? That would make a good sequel to an excellent starter video.

    Photographing black clothes is my biggest problem 😢

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  Год назад +13

      Black is SO tough. Too much light washes everything out. Too little light and every detail disappears. I have the best luck with black when the background isn't too bright white. Too white and the camera tries to adjust to that...killing the black. Black really benefits from tons of natural light and a slightly off white background. It's a balancing act for sure.

    • @jimtroop9245

      Try an experiment with your ISO settings. One black shirt + 3 different settings and then decide which is best. Then with that best setting, experiment how closely your lights are to the shirt. You can change angles of the lights too. I promise its worth the hassle because black clothes are so popular with buyers. But I still hate photographing black so I stick to higher $$ items.

      UGH...I used to fight that SOOOOO hard. My solution was a better light and a better phone. I use a Samsung S22, if that matters. And I'm using a NEEWER 16" light ring. Still, if I have NO natural light, blue is the hardest color for me to photograph.

    Informative video. What are your thoughts of putting a carousel video in one of the picture slots since I have twenty-four to use? Currently, I use my Nikon D7200 DX-format DSLR camrea with an Foldio3 Light Box with blue tooth controlled Foldio3 Smart Turntable along with an extra Halo-Bar Set, Or use my Samsung Galaxy S23+ Phone? Which setup do you think will work the best? I used my Nikon + Foldio3 setup for taking photographs of my Geckos and Boas that we sold at our online store.

      With the significant compression that eBay uses when the pictures are uploaded, I don't know that the average buyer will see much of a difference in the end product. It'll be there, but will it be noticeable for the person looking at a reduced image on a 720 monitor? My Nikon is an older one. It's a D3300. It'll still crush most phone cameras. I love the light box and a turntable. I use a turntable for some of my Amazon review videos. If it's just as convenient, use the better equipment. If it creates a lot of extra work, use your phone. I use my phone. One the first question, I haven't tried to upload a carousel picture format, but I love the idea.

    Ive been a buyer on Ebay since the early days. This is just FYI but I wont buy things that have floor shots - and I can guarantee there are more than just me who are like that.
    Its just the idea that I find problematic. Ive had the usual people chime in with how clean their floors are.....well, its the gravity problem. Everything gets sucked down to the floor. Even after they have been freshly sterilized (which nobody does).
    Im not saying this to condescend - Im saying this to genuinely be helpful bc theres many things I wanted on Ebay that I passed on bc of the floor shots.

    Hello,
    I just discovered your channel via this video. I am embarrassed to admit this, but I thought, since it seems like we use similar photographing techniques, maybe you could tell me what you think about the speed that I have in listing. Because I am pretty frustrated by it. I’ve been doing this for a long time - not making a living off of it - but I do know what I’m doing in general on eBay. BUT I had a batch of utensils that I was working through much more slowly than I thought, so a couple days ago, I decided to time myself. I like to take photographs and then immediately list. If I don’t do that, I seem to forget things and have to go back and look at the object. So when I timed myself, I got 3 utensils photographed and listed in one hour. Eek!! The next day I timed myself and got 4 done. And I felt like I was working at a pretty decent speed through the whole thing. Is this incredibly slow, as it seems to me like it must be? And if so, do you have any tips just off the top of your head, or something I might be overlooking that’s making me going at a turtle pace? If not, that’s OK. But I am just kind of curious if that seems really slow to you. Thanks, haha!

    • @TheChaChingKing
      @TheChaChingKing  10 месяцев назад +2

      You got 3 photographed and listed in an hour? That's not fast...at all. BUT, that's about how fast I list. I am of a different school of thought that most eBayers. I have never focused on speed or efficiency of listing. I have ZERO desire to crank out 50 listings a day. I have built my entire business around increasing my average sale price without drastically increasing my item cost. I think I've focused on that far more than most people. My thought process is that I'd rather list 5 or MAYBE 10 items a day that are worth around $75 each than I would figure out how to list 75 $10 items a day. So, instead of developing processes that maximize every step, I've tried to study to maximize the value of every dollar I spend on inventory. If you follow me in Instagram, you probably noticed a recent sale of mine. I bought a box of old soda cans for $10. They sold for over $2300. I made enough on them that I was able to go find the people who had the garage sale and give them more money.
      Bottom line. If you are interested in increasing your listing speed, I'm not the best guy to help. And Melody is slower than I am. LOL Our entire business is focused on studying what sells and learning how to make more money with less investment of time and money. :-)
