I just bought this CD and I can't not stop playing it! The first track called "Breathless" is my JAM!!! I also love the song "Hello like before." This CD screams Vanessa Williams from beginning to end, so all of her REAL fans should enjoy it!
She is an unsung talent...she never gets the coverage or the accolades she deserves accept but from the NAACP Image awards which is great, but internationally she is much more respected than in America... I love you Vanessa...always have..pure elegance and class...
For some reason Vanessa has not called the attention of the media news neverthelss she's a great artist writing and singing. Her music has a high artistic level. I hope she keeps making works like this despite of how much media recognizes her work.
Another powerful Vanessa Williams performance. The band, the sound, that voice. For me, she is best all around female performer, regardless of genre. I've thoroughly enjoyed her music as it has evolved over time. Every song from her first hit to now is eminently listenable over the years. Her work is polished and professional. I get the feeling she simply loves music. I can't think of anyone even close. Maybe Shirley Horn.

We don't appreciate or respect older artist anymore, PERIOD. These corporate ran record companies are all about MONEY. They mass produce crappy, studio enhanced vocals over "music "and sell it to teenagers every week. Prince's record sells have been OK, but they are no where near what they used to be.
Stevie Wonder wrote this, I checked the CD. I could be wrong, but I believe it was first written and recorded in 2009. if not, I'd love to hear another version. Speaking as a musician, this is a very complex song, wonderfully arranged and gives me the chills every time. it's my new favorite song.
If I remember correctly Vanessa has always done jazz...The comfort zone had "What Will I Tell My Heart" which Vanessa did a video for and the sweetest days albums delved more deeply into jazz. Its simply the record label who Vanessa is with now- Concord is a jazz label so I expected a jazz album and we got a good one at that

Vanessa Williams has earned a living in the entertainment industry by using ALL her talents. She merely used her singing career to kick off everything she's doing today. I love this new CD! It's nice to hear REAL damn music for a change. AGAIN, she is no longer 20 years old and has no reason to prove anything to anyone. The only one being outrageous and ridiculous is YOU! I'm sure Ms. Williams won't lose any sleep or money if you decide to no longer support her.
Btw, Prince has never really fit in a catagory as for as his music. He is mixture of Rock, Funk, R&B, Pop and Blues. A few years back Prince experienced the best record sales he has had in years. He basically include the price of his CD with the cost of the concert ticket and the people at "Sound Scan" had to recognize and report it as a unit sold. It was a BRILLIANT idea! It even earned him a Grammy Nomination. LOL Most of our R&B artist have go over seas to still make a living.
I have loved this song for many many years since its release on the Sergio Mendes w/Brasil 77. That entire album is just superb imho. :) I'm glad she chose to cover this tune, but I agree that Sergio's version is better.
