Belgium Congo Fun Fact: There are none. Since all of these paths pretty much play the same as each other I thought it'd be easier to cover them all in one video instead of spreading it out over six long videos, and it works as teaser for all of em. It worked out fairly well personally.
You know, if Paradox hadn't decided to completely abandon the Border Conflict mechanic, it would have been a legitimately decent way to get territory as minor nations, especially in Africa.
i wish the Belgium Congo was more fun to play, but you have to stick with Belgium to do all the cool industrial paths, and there's for some reason a lot of 70 days focuses with some 84 sprinkled in
The idea I had to make being a German Protectorate as the last monarch was for that path to reactivate the joint Belgium/Congo tree with Germany as the European beneficiary. You could funnel lots of rubber up to the Germans while having an actually fun time in Africa, and it would easily set you up to get the Congolese Belgium achievement in the peace deal.
Like, Congo feels like it's creators made the Democrstic Belgium loyal path first, than put in the communsit tree, and like a week before realse they remembered that congo doesn't have a fascist path so they added something on top. Like, Democratic Congo is good, Communist Congo is fine, Monarchsit and Fascist congo is just bad.
One of the great strengths of house of Agua Rosada that you missed is not directly annexing Angola as soon as you can. Angola will always go for industry focuses and if you let them alive for a year and then you annex them while having conc/disp industry 3 you can get a lot of free factories and good infra slots to build in.
I didn't notice I cut the scene that talked about it. Putting this together was a mess and it got lost in the trimming. It's fine to do but when it comes to recording it was quicker to skim over it.
Excellent breakdown! I do think these paths are intended as end games. So, do a lot of stuff developing with belgium first, then brek away in like 1939
Y'know one thing could've made that German monarchist path worth doing and kinda fun the ability to get kaiser Wilhelm as the leader with a focus to gain former Germany Collines and claims in Africa with pp that could've been pretty cool
Dude please keep making every video like this First one I’ve watched where I really understand what focuses I’m going to do Saved me so much time. Liked, subbed, you’re the goat.
Also; you both go through every option and show it But you don’t waste time, repeat yourself, speculate stupidly, nah. See option, do option, next option. Fucking thank GOD
I hate how Congo tree poorly made. They literally used Congo for a test subject of overlord-dominion tree and didn't care it slightly. Whole these Monarchist paths except fascist one are jokes. Very limited expansion options and no white peace.
What a joke, 2017 level of focus quality and buffs. They probably were required to tick boxes about every country having monarchism and for some reason willing German collaborationists in the new updates... Also straight up insult to Africans with pro-colonialist Germans having the most possible cores.
20:06 It’s possible to get Yuhi V on the throne as an unaligned and access the research focus. I’m not exactly sure what the exact conditions for it are, but I pulled it off by gaining independence peacefully and doing the monarchist path post-WW2.
The way to play the Congo is to break free, build submarines and declare war on Portugal. You can farm for casualties by surrounding a port in Angola, then hop across Portugese territory with naval invasions and 1940 submarines. Conquer Portugal and use that as a springboard to conquer elsewhere. Or just turn historical off.

Honestly yeah, especially given how most African countries are one state minors in Hoi4.
Congo monarchist tree be like:
1. Assemble the Regency Council
2. Declare war on the UK
3. Die.
@@BubblesZest Yeah fighting major countries in Africa without an industry isn't a great expierience. I will be avoiding Congo just like Ethiopia.
@@BubblesZest there isnt even the "profit" part?
Theoretically, if all the majors decolonised it could be fun, but that's quite unlikely even in ahistorical

You should be able to continue those focuses as puppet of a new master. E.g. a soviet puppet or a German puppet
I built a mod called Make Congo Fun Again, that changes focus times. You can do most of the shared tree and break free by Danzig. Not OP just fun.

They did Belgian Congo dirty…🎉
Thanks for making this, i didn't know which ones meant what.

Paradox screwing over your country's history is a tradition at this point
-A Pole who's still salty about Gomułka and Dmowski
Becoming a German protectorate sucks because it locks you out of the rest of your focus trees which require you to be independen.t

Its obviously Leopold the second💀
Btw Dom Pedro VII died in 1910
the other question is is it better as germany to do the Panzer Doctrine focus or Prussian legacy
the free civs ain't worth it when you can let dutch fill out your tree
you can have 6 reaserch slots
um could of had anolgian puppet if they removed portgual 6:38
