- By overwhelming request, no talking in the intro, louder volume and a dark screen for this remixed smoothed and reworked version of Orange Noise. I created the first version in 2021 for the Noise Ambient channel. I read your comments and a lot of you wanted no talking in the intro and a louder overall volume. Let me just say, the introduction provides the creation context for the viewer; the thought process, method, the artistry and the love that goes into the creation of these noise ambient listening experiences. Here is the new and improved, slightly tweaked version for you all.
The creation process:
Remix, remaster, new audio clip:
Many requested a louder version and it is a fine line between too loud and to low in volume. You see, if I make the output volume too loud, the decoding in RUclips will automatically lower the level. If I make it too low, YT will increase the level. Neither is ideal from my standpoint as an audio engineer. In fact, there are loudness standards in place using a measurement called (can you guess) "Loudness Units - LU". The issue is loudness, when it comes to noise, compared to voice and music, is trickier to get right. Furthermore, many listener's phones, tablets, and low quality headphones will not faithfully reproduce the low frequency bass energy in the creation. A phone will not simply have better bass by turning up the volume. Speakers and great headphones will provide the best listening experience. And, I try to make the sound on small speakers and tiny headphones as good as it can be. Careful equalization (EQ) and limiting has been applied to this remix/remaster. So you can turn it up, but alas, if it is too loud on a phone of tablet, some mild crackling may be noticed pushing the tiny speakers to the brink.
No Voiceover:
You wanted no voice in the intro, and I removed it, falling back on text in video for the explanation. As a creator, I am constantly experimenting with techniques to connect you viewers to my work. Voiceovers have done this well, despite few creators doing this in the niche. I have backed off on this approach only doing it on 20% of the videos currently created. This is a listening experience after all, and my methods continue to evolve to interject a dash of knowledge, authenticity, humor into the explanations. This is a video platform, so dark screen only takes us half way. I also talk as a guarantee of the creation originality rather than a knockoff. Often, completely original ideas are cloned by other "creators". It is flattering I suppose and makes me dive deeper into original heartfelt content for you all.
So to you viewers, I encourage you to click on my versions when doing a search. And to the copycats, I might be putting digital audio watermarks in the videos :) . So, just to make your versions from scratch like I do and enjoy the many hours of work that go into an original creation process.

It’s really low but it’s incredible quality. No loud weird ear piercing tone recorded from poor equipment. This is the REAL DEAL. Very solid
Because there is a lot of low frequency sound energy in this noise, pushing the volume more would create distortion. Much experimentation goes into the proper level. Too loud and YT will turn it down. Tricky audio business.

I really like this. A very clean noise actually covers most of my tinnitus. It would take an expert like you to map out all the frequencies of tones and hissing I hear constantly never stops. This seems to help. Thank you.

Dale this one is one of the best so far for activating the parasympathetic nervous system. Many of us with very loud tinnitus like to mark it with a sound that's similar to our own tinnitus frequency. However after 27 years with Tinnitus, and since the age of technology like RUclips and your wonderful contributions, I personally find this type of frequency more calming and anxiety reducing.

Thanks Neil. Been a fan of soothing noises since I was a kid. Aquariums, humidifiers, fans, all night AM radio, volkswagen beetles on road trips were the type of things in my sleepytime space. Something soothing in them all. ( more ideas :) )

This orange noise is just lovely. It’s my favorite light spectrum sound. But my body likes it so much that my brain triggers my body to vibrate, which feels nice but makes it so I can’t sleep. So I play this during the day to help me focus. I love the sound, thank you!

You are welcome. I was experimenting with introduction styles in 2021 and 2022, but now have settled into on screen text intros without voice to set the mood. The noise right at the beginning.

Since I was a kid, orange was my favorite color. I love that you turned my favorite color into a noise! And out of all the noise channels on YT this is definitely the one that resonates most for me. Why does this bandwidth feel so good to me? Brown and green are soothing, violet is soothing while mildly stimulating, but orange which I kept avoiding feels most healing to me. Actually reduced my pain. Amazing!

I was looking for some noise for sleep but not deep sleep and this is what I found 😊
Reminds me of an HVAC system in a large building. For instance, the CEPS (engineering) building at the university of new hampshire, where I used to SLEEP because my apartment was underwater for a few days and then it took me a week and a half to find a new place to live.

This feels better with my tinnitus. Most of the other sounds that are "tinnitus masks" are quite jarring to my ears. This seems to blend with the sound of my tinnitus.
Thanks, yes the subtle popping in the original release is fixed after adjusting the low frequencies in the remix remaster.

Hi Dale, is this one in the low Hz range for delta sleep, or does 1-2 Hz have to be binaural? Not clear on that. Looking through your lists for 1-2 Hz for deep sleep. Thanks! I like this one.
We as humans cannot hear below 20 Hz (with a few exceptions like powerful earthquakes, waterfalls or trains which is mostly felt rather than listening). Below that is pulsing which is best perceived as binaural beats
