Yes Chris, back to basics! Charlie’s vlog is brilliant to showcase your training talent and very high standards, which are amazing btw but this is so much better to follow. Please don’t get frustrated at what will seem like training at a snails pace for us lot. Simple, slow and steady wins the race every time 👍 excellent!

Great video as usual. That not the same as the puppy lead, curious what the difference. Also, your overalls, what brand are those?

So for retrieving it's a slightly longer lead. It has no ring on the end just a simple slip loop you can make some out of 3 mm cord nothing fancy about it at all.
My Salapets I'm wearing a from a fishing brand called ESP

Thank you for this. Some great little tips here. Jealous on how steady Billy is already. My little springer has difficulty keeping still. She just loves to jump

How long would you recommend doing a session on say 2/3 things such as sit and stay, retrieves and heel work, at the moment im doing a couple of short 10min sessions a day should i keep it short and sweet or make sessions abit longer shes 3 months old at the moment

So for the age and standards of the dog that I'm training here, I do about 10 minutes a day six days a week it's not so much how much you want to do is how much the dog can process and stay happy and that differs from dog to dog . Slowly slowly, catchy monkey as they say.

Best video yet for someone who is training their first ECS. I wasn't using the lead for the retrieves. Explains why my sits are so shaky still. Thanks for doing this one.

No prob just make a simple slip lead with some 3mm cord you can get it in BQ

@@hampshirespanieltrainingwi9314 I do have one, just wasn't using it for the retrieves. His heeling and sits on walks are much better these days and isn't pulling anymore, so transferring the training to the retrieves makes total sense.

Is there a difference between working and show cockers for training - meaning can you train them in the same way? Thanks

I do look after some show cocker Clients they normally don't have the drive which is why they are so different but I would still set out the same way at the beginning

Thank you. I’ve really struggled with pulling and healing. She does heel but it’s a constant battle. Looking at your videos though I can see I’ve made mistakes. I think it’s always the owner that needs the training 🥴
