When I was 14, I saw Rage live with a girl I liked. Within seconds of the show starting, this young lady started doing exactly what you did as soon as the song started. I remember thinking she was too cool for me. When I was thinking this, she grabbed my hand , kissed me for the first time (on the cheek), and screamed thank you into my ear. 22 years later and she still holds my hand and screams in my ear the most beautiful things I've ever heard.
and then albert einstein handed you 100 dollars and everyone at the concert gave you a standing ovation
What's wrong with you@@pointlessmanatee
Def in contention for Best Comment here, lol!
Best story ever!
That's awesome congratulations
"They don't have to burn the books, they just remove em". That's my favorite freaking line. So many small gems in this song lyrically. As a guitarist, I love how RATM take these simple groovy riffs, and turn them into anthem's that move crowds. The song writing is top notch. Every Rage song has me feeling like I can overthrow the government right now by myself. After I am done listening, I remember I am just a normal bloak in my pajamas watching RUclips while eating Dorito's. I don't even own an airsoft pistol.
"They don't have to burn the books, they just remove em" Republicans doing this right now, we've see this before and where it leads.
I can't believe how prescient this line is.
“They don’t have to burn the books, they just remove ‘em” Calling out DeSantis and Florida from back in 1996! RATM was so forward thinking and prescient that their Rage still fits the 2023 world.
Amen. Just go ahead and name a time in history when we considered the folks burning/banning books as the Good Guys.
@@chrisgilbert9076 boy you so tarded do some research
That bass guitar is absolutely cooking. Bass guitarists don’t get enough credit.
🫂
The bass makes all their songs his tone is ridiculous
Love seeing young people reacting to songs from the 90's early 00's and realizing that they're still, if not more so, applicable today.
As long as people abuse power, RATM will be relevant. Let's hope for their obscurity.
A reaction from Aileen always brightens up my day. RATM has always been an important band for my generation. They picked up where public enemy left off in the 80s. Standing and speaking up for the little people. 🙏
Look, if you love RatM, the first Album as a whole is a must. It was one of the first albums where i did know back then the whole Lyrics and could quote them all. So here are some must must hear songs: "Know your Enemy". "Freedom" "Bullet in the Head" "Guerilla Radio" "Bombtrack" "Sleep now in the fire" (with one of the best music videos ever) "Wake up" "Calm like a Bomb"
All classics, but dont sleep on Testify and Down Rodeo also!
Heard freedom on spin radio one Sunday night as a teen while laying in bed and it blew my mind. Been hooked ever since
Will never forget hearing them for the first time and Bombtrack starting an entire album of complete awe. I couldn’t say one word until the end of Freedom. Was one of the most amazing first listenings of any band I’ve ever listened to. Fucking nuts. I was a senior in highschool when it dropped.
"Voice of the Voiceless" is probably my favorite underrated RatM song. "Township Rebellion" is way up there too.
Never apologize for pausing and reflecting. That's why we're here. I want to hear your thoughts, your feelings, your reactions. That "Fuck." After the "Weapons not food, not homes, not shoes, not need..........While arms warehouses fill as quick as the cells..." verse was absolutely perfect. That's really the only reaction to how much he dropped in a single verse. Legit one of the most powerful, potent, devastating verses of the decade. And yes, Tom is his own brand of wild genius, but the meaning is always the biggest focus to try and unpack. The military industrial complex isn't just destroying America, it's destroying lives everywhere, and Zach is gonna say how he feels about it. I always recommend lyrics on the second listen, not the first. Let the energy and whatever you pick up guide you and take you away. THEN you can soak in the layers of meaning in the lyrics and how it empowers the "rage" of the band.
Next recommendations from a lifelong fan: "Wake Up." It doesn't get clearer or more on-brand than this song. "Down Rodeo" is incredible, too, of course. So so so many. Really just spin a giant wheel of their songs and you can't land on a bad one to react to and process.
That second verse is so damn powerful
Saw rage just after they released the first album...one of the best gigs I've ever seen, 30 years later and the lyrics are even truer now....we didn't learn the lessons..
You know.. Fads tend to overgrow and counter-themselves.
It's the true case of "die believing sometjing or live lomgvenoughbto become a biggot"
We were young, enjoying cool music, the lessons of the lyrics went right over our heads. 30 years later, ah fuck, that's what they meant!
RATM are sell outs as bad as Metallica
The beauty of simplicity, that riff is bloody iconic.
Down Rodeo is my #1 pick out of all Rage songs. It contains every single element that made the band great, all in the best possible form.
Yep
Totally agree, there is so much to unpack in the lyrics, the shock factor of the first verse is something that i always love to see people react to.
Wake up!!!!
Down rodeo is up there. I personally like “No Shelter”. I think it gets overlooked because it was for a Godzilla movie lol but god damn it slaps so hard
RATM is truly one of a kind. Right place, right time. So 90's but still relevant and hard hitting in '23.
You know you are really enjoying something when you can't seem to find the words to describe it, and the ones you do seem to find you can't help but to stumble over them. LOL Having said that, you made another great song choice AileenSenpai! They have so many great songs...so you are in for a wonderful treat as you continue to dive down that musical rabbit hole. Keep it up!
I know that it does not come packaged like most rap or hip hop, but make no mistake: Zach is 100000000% MCing. He's about as MC as it gets. There's still so much from these guys for you to check out: Know Your Enemy, Testify, Take the Power Back, People of the Sun, Sleep Now In The Fire, Bombtrack, etc etc. One of my absolute favorites is Freedom - most people seem to sleep on it, but lemme tell ya, it is EPIC.
Zach comes from a hardcore punk background and this song is probably the best example of him combining that style with rapping.
This entire album “Evil EMPIRE” is my favorite of their albums !!! EVERY SONG on the album is amazing
I think you caught this song with the right frame of mind. You'll definitely want to listen to this repeatedly in order to absorb the message, but you are on the right track. Love your sincere reactions and comments.
The Ghost Of Tom Joad! Most underated RATM track!! You've had some GREAT bangers lately!!
That song and FREEDOM fucking go hard 🤘🏽😎
Nice pick. I have the 45
Bruce Springsteen original
Originally Springsteen but RATM's version is way better and tells the story way more clearly. Love this song!
Not their song so I don’t think it should count.
Love your reaction and relaxed language, not afraid to use everyday expressions that are not well seen on youtube.
An Aileen reaction a day keeps the sadness at bay 💅 So excited to see you do this song by RATM and I can’t wait to watch after work 😭 I have a sneaking suspicion that you’re gonna be grooving to everything about this song from the lyrics to way it’s written!!
Man I'm getting all emotional for you and how excited you are listening to this
Great reaction! I also Luv the riffs! Luv ya Aileen ❤️💛
RATM is forever in my top 5 bands. They are sooooo good, guys.
Other songs that you could react to are Know your enemy, Wake up, People of the sun, Snakecharmer, Testify, Calm like a bomb, Sleep now in the fire or Guerrilla Radio.
For a SICK bass, it maybe isn't one of their best, but Wind bellow has a chef kiss cool bass (ok, actually all of their songs have it).
Bombtrack
Yes! Was waiting for you to do this one. I've heard this song dozens and dozens of times and I never once got the nursery rhyme analogy that you mentioned and I think you're dead-on. There's nothing quite like RATM; real, authentic, motivational, inspirational. Powerful stuff and the real deal.
Just watched a few videos from like a year ago "that's great let's see the home page!" ... "Omg there's so many of my favorite baaaaaaaaaaaands!!!"
You're my new favorite, bisous depuis la France!
Thank you very much for that reaction Aileen. I always love your honesty and enthusiasm, but this time you really got me with your insights to one of my favorite bands. I had never considered your analysis/comparison of the refrain to the children's rhyme of "pocket full of posies," and the potential metaphor/symbolism of death there. For me the refrain is more literal, about standing up for one's "family" whoever they may be, blood or otherwise, and being willing to stand. Zack is a serious poet, and so I don't disregard his use of metaphor instead of just making a rhyme. Thanks for helping me see something new after 30 years of loving these guys. I thought your analysis was both insightful and passionate. Thanks again. Next please: "Down Rodeo" by RATM, and please, please do Pearl Jam's live performance of "Porch" from the Netherlands...you won't be disappointed...promise. [Spoiler: watch Eddie do a 25-foot vertical (2 1/2 stories) jump into a crowd.]
“ashes in the fall” is such a powerful song, and further allows Morello to make you wonder how the hell he can make the guitar make the noises he can.
Hi gorgeous, Thanks for this alt classic. I remember listening to this one years ago and it still rocks to this day!! Pretty flowers for a pretty woman🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️❤️💋💋💋💋🦊🦊🦊🦊
Love me some Bulls on Parade! Rage goes hard on this one. Straight banger! Keep up the awesome reactions!
Down Rodeo and wake up ⬆️ to me lyrically and rhythm 🥁 are two of my favorite
Aliene is a delight. Well done!
I love them so much,I was there when they filmed the guerrilla video for this,I came this close to getting arrested, but I'd risk it again if the chance came up!🤘🤘🤘
Best reaction I’ve seen to any song period
My favorite Rage songs are probably Rodeo, and Renegades of funk they also have a great live version of I believe it’s this song with Maynard James Keenan that’s really good
Yo that mention about the baby metal collab - amazing song
Thankyou
You are awesome! I wish more people from your generation had their eyes open.
By far my favorite reactor, you see some people music touches their ears but others like you and I and many others it touches our soul. I love it. Not gon lie it can be orgasmic.
YOUR VISCERAL reactions to some of my most favorite music, has me wishing , and adding to the same reaction I had back in the day this was emerging, like a sledge hammer. You are awesome. I will always look for new content... 🏴☠🏴☠🏴☠🏴☠
I love how much you get into the song right off the bat it's great
Dayam! @Aileen your reaction was a total 180 from what I’ve seen so far and I love it. This looked like the real you. I’ve always taken “Rally round the family, pocket full of shells” to be about the LAPD and LASD. They’re the so called family and they close ranks. The song was released in 96, not so long after the LA riots caused by the acquittal of the LAPD officers who beat Rodney King. Lots of tension here at that time. I’ve enjoyed listening to Rage and their live concerts are exciting.
Its more about spending on military and weapons instead of taking care of citizens...what we don't know keeps the contracts movin'
I always took it to mean you should go to any lengths to protect your family and the "They" means us Americans. Believe me, if my parents called me because someone is threatening them, I'm grabbing the 12 ga and a pocket full of shells and I'm gonna rally 'round the family. It seems to me that the government is increasingly less interested in protecting its citizens and we should always be ready to protect ourselves and our family and neighbors. Its up to us now.
@@ScottWiecenski "they" is the government and they rally round the family by paying lip service to the people while filling the military pockets full of shells
Golden reaction. Thanks!
AileenSenpai is just: TOO SWEET!!!!!!😱🤘🏾🤘🏾
Anger is a gift
Awesome work Aileen ❤
I never realize how cold the world feels until your smile shows up to warm my day. I knew this music when it was fresh, and it still pumps my adrenaline to this very day. Hell Yeah!!
One track I love is called "Ashes in the Fall". RATM was incredible and every track is a banger. Every. Single. One. 🤘
Glad you got to listen to Bulls on Parade 😁 Greetings from Belgrade! 😄🎉🎉
The guitar is amazing. Love that you appreciate how insanely good it is.
first time i listened to RATM, I thought the band was a large group just based off the sounds i was hearing listening to them. then years later i finally catch a music video and see just 3 instruments! Guitar, bass, and drums....and all 3 members are great players.
LOVE that you get them/LOVE them! It's hitting you so hard that it almost makes you look stressed haha
Your reaction videos are great ❤
Sleep Now in the Fire is my favorite by them. ❤❤❤ I was supposed to see them live finally in the spring this year but they had to cancel the tour. 😢 I should have seen them in the 90s but went to my night class in college instead and have regretted that choice ever since.
That is such a good song and the ballad of Tom joad
The entire Battle album is a no skip one
I'm glad to see the weight of what Zack is saying is sinking in now. I always recommend the lyric videos for RATM because it's so easy to lose the message with such awesome instrumentals. It's amazing to think that Killing In The Name was on heavy radio rotation with lyrics like "Those who died are justified, for wearing a badge they're the chosen whites!" If you want the nastiest bass groove with profound lyrics check out Take The Power Back! I always enjoy reliving my first listens to these songs through you, these videos help people with social anxiety more than you know, thanks.
Totally KICK ASS! Rock on with your true love Bro😁🥂
What a coincidence: I wore one of my RATM t-shirts to work today and got several compliments on it. Then, when I got home and opened up RUclips, this reaction popped up! Nice! Glad you're discovering these dudes! 🔥🔥🔥
How I like to look at the first reaction of a person to my favorite songs! I'm waiting for new reactions!!!
I love how RATM causes you to break out the F-bombs! And I'm dead serious. These guys are fucking legends!
Beautiful reaction and what a statement "....without flipping someone off, you are listening to this incorrectly" Love it! My first intro to Rage back in the 90's was bullet in the head. Mad bollox. On the Ren front are you doing a reaction to Lost all faith please? Also saw his Crutch vid with Bibi and it tore the guts out of me, it was beautiful and tragic at the same time.
The next RATM you should check out Freedom and Guerilla Radio next. BANGERS!
Bullet in The Head - 1993 is a great live recording of one of my favorite Rage Against The Maxchine songs, and a great through back to my first live concert with them bzck in 1994
I'm glad you are getting into them, I've been fortunate enough to see them live twice and the energy is amazing! Do yourself a favor and just listen to the whole album Evil Empire.
How's it going Aileen!! Nice reaction!!
Has been a gem for 30 years now. The sad thing is the lyrics are still applicable
Stand-Up reactions are definitely my favorite by far.🤘😎
That was a perfect breakdown of how great this band is Great job❤
Sleep Now In The Fire should be next!🔥💜
Absolutely, but you gotta do a deep dive into the lyrics in the chorus " I am the Nina, the pinta...."
@@relaxedatmosphere7336 hell, yeah!!!💜🔥💜
Awesome reaction as always. I had friends in Catholic grade school who listened to metal and rock so attending grade school in the early 90s, i heard this along with Metallica, Korn, Alice In Chains along with many others. Great time to grow up in and these lyrics along with many other songs of theirs still reign prevelant to this day.
This song is such a throwback!
Forever tattooed on my brain since Christmas 2008, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock 💪🎸🎸🤘
Lived it! As the songs came out. The concert were dangerous and Fun. Ahhh the good ol days.😎
You took me back to 2000, it was the first time I saw them live in Greece..
Rage is timeless. They were right at the time, and they're right now.
I’ve never seen you so effected Aileen. Was cool to see you be real.
More Aileen and Raaaage, let's goooooo
I saw them at Long Beach Arena... When he started spitting lyrics, 10,000 strong started jumping up and down so hard i thought we were gonna' break the foundation! One of THE GREATEST BANDS TO EVER GRACE A STAGE... PERIOD!
It's crazy that what they rapped about in the 90s is still just as valid today, in some ways even more! The amount of energy that they put into it is out of this world, especially the live performances. Parkzicht 1993 long version... one my favorite RATM performances.
Used to go running to this with my walkman. Over and over and over. So good
What I always loved about Rage Against The Machine was there intensity in there songs and not just the guitar riffs and drums but also the lead singer the bass is fantastic in this one too and Tom Morello's guitar is unique he did the same type of techniques when he was in Audioslave it's a shame they went away because they could have made so much more great music
Tim is a great bass player. 👍🏼
I'm so glad you are reviewing this band ❤❤ their music hits so hard and is so awesome 💯 the lyrics just say so much . Annnnnnd hence the name of the band 🤘
props, i have been listening to rage for like 20 years, and i didnt realize until last week that it was a play on ring around the rosie.
I love every reaction that you do! you should to react them live!
Awesome track awesome reaction 😎 👌
I’m so glad someone else connected the “pocket full of posies” thing, thought I was crazy.
yayayayayayayayaya
You nailed the eaxact angry look one should have when litsening to RATM! GJ!
One of my favorites by far. Tom Morello became one of my favorite guitarists growing up. So unique and does things no one else has. I've always said if I was in MMA fighter I would have to come out to one of their songs forsure. You should check out Guerrilla Radio next.
Sleep Now in the Fire,Bombtrack,Renegades of Funk, Fistful Of Steel...I could go on and on. You have so many amazing tunes left
Thx for the recommendation. Stray from the path is pretty sick.
Loved the nursery rhymes link. Watched a fair few react videos for rage and the first time I've heard this take and it honestly fits. Don't doubt the guys are are smart enough to have had this thought too
Since you've been reacting to RATM & Mexican music you should check out, "Los Tigres Del Norte Somos Mas Americanos with Zack De La Rocha. It is such an amazing song and drops some knowledge. I can't explain the feeling you get when you listen to this song.
Saw them last year. Best concert of my life
I love this song. It’s visceral in its bare and honest portrayal of how two-faced the US government and system is. “We care about the family, we rally around you”, but we’re just stoking the war machine and feeding it with these families they truly care little for.
AMAIZING live shows too! Lol I'm no spring chicken!
Aileen don't worry about How much you pause as long as they filled with Quality and As a RReactor Myself it's a blessing and a curse! Keep Rocking!
I love your reactions dude. I wouldn't mind seeing all Rage and Zeppelin reactions, there's so much golden music between those two bands!
She's not a dude....
@@sebastiangarla8558 lmao you can address anyone as “dude.” Where I’m from everyone calls everyone dude.
Thnx Aileen for you react to Rage...likee👍🎵🎶❤
I think your deciphering different music is very intuitive, and knowing you like the base - i would be interested in your review on Ozzy The All Mighty Dollar and Marylin's Beautiful People, both have a good base line...
Gran trabajo 👌
Their bass and drummer own the pocket🤘
I saw them live a few times great shows .
You always pick up on the bass..!! Take the power back should be your next deep dive 🤘🏻🔥🔥🤘🏻
Saw them at Woodstock 99 it was the hardest thing I've ever seen
Git you sum girl... more more more rage.. keep up the great work.
