Yep, Florida and Texas in particular are removing books that include topics like sex education, LGBTQ perspectives, systemic injustice, and the darker parts of American history.
I saw rage and concert a bunch of times in the nineties And nothing made me happier That being in the Pit Letting out all that anger and frustration With some friendly violent fun
My dad used to blast this band constantly. I have to thank him for bringing awareness to musicians like them. He also raised me on Ozzy and Frank Zappa. These rebels to the form allowed me to open my eyes to watch society closely and hear outside of a media propaganda bubble.
1991: First album (self-titled) 1995: 2nd album "Evil Empire" 1999: 3rd album "Battle of LA" Filmed a music video that shut down the NYSE. Had the song "Wake up" featured on the "Matrix" (a huge clue about the movie's real meaning) 2000: Farewell cover album "Renegades" 2001: One of the responses to 9/11 was the banning of their whole discography from public radio. Zach left and did a bunch of collaborations with other artists. The rest of the band joined Chris Cornell to form Audioslave. I recommend "No shelter" next
Rage is magic! Do the reaction to Dark Funeral - My Funeral. Thats my "feel good song" after a divoce and it would be nice to here how f*cked up that is haha
Rage Guitarist Tom Morello attended Harvard University. Another fun fact: RATM was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live once in 1996. The host that night was Steve Forbes, billionaire and, at the time, Republican presidential hopeful. RATM decided to protest Forbes presence as a representative from the “privileged class”. They hung two upside down American flags on stage prior to performing, despite SNL telling them they could not do it. SNL staff removed the flags. Bass player Tim Commerford later ripped an American flag to shreds, stormed into Forbe’s dressing room, and threw the pieces everywhere. RATM was escorted off the premises by security and permanently banned from ever performing on SNL again.
Got some albums of them. Great songteksts, guitar, baseline and drums. Anti-politic, anti-war songs in rap style. Love them. Thank you for reacting on them.
My boyfriend says he was in the crowd when they shot the video but I can't confirm that because I wasn't with him at the time. But he said the crowd was crazy. But I think you have a good grip on the song. 🌈 You have a beautiful soul. I enjoy your reactions 🌈
There's a lot to be said about a song that came out in 1996 that's still just as relevant today, maybe even more so, than it was when it released. This song and the rest of the "Evil Empire" album it was on was a pretty big chapter of my high school soundtrack for sure. Hated to hear they broke up recently, but I kinda saw that coming. As far as what you asked about; the issues that are negatively affecting mental health in present-day; I can think of one. There's this whole "pick a side!" kinda thing going on that seems to be everywhere in modern media and I kind of have an issue with that; it doesn't speak to solidarity, or unity; it's all about "who's side are you on?" It's like....what does that solve exactly? That division of people? Seems to me it's creating a new problem, and has been for a while; it's just more clear to see these days than it was 8 years ago.
"Drop the hits like de la O..." is a reference to Genovevo de la O, a prominent revolution leader in Mexico who fought at least two guerrilla wars on behalf of the Mexican peasantry. Dude was hardcore.
If you haven't heard it... Please listen to Ball of Confusion by the Temptations! Sheez. An old song that is completely relevant. Love your channel. Keep it flowing.
Rage reflects all of the ills of our society that are happening and being ignored. Black men being shot for simply reaching for their phones. Native Americans left in poverty by the government. It took a war that pitted brother killing brother to finally give African Americans the right to be free like all human beings deserve to be. Not all things are solved by a Pollyanna view of the world.
Yo how things, yea dude rage are wild, super serious stuff and its as real as it gets, as a collective we could learn from their example. There is a place for simple goofy fun, and there is a place for real action. These are not mutually exclusive. Also that great guitar sound you said you liked its a Wah pedal. Named for its sound. WAH WAH du du WAH WAH, du du du du du du WAH WAH du du. Very cool affect hard to use well. Good question at the end. I think there are many powerful entities that favour the status quo and there are many that profit from suffering behind closed doors. In addition (i dont know if your religious) I believe that the best world we could live in is one where people are able to decide what they believe in a way where religion is less recruit'y and more charity. I believe in small communities religion is great and on an international scale its very divisive and destructive. I am spiritual my self but not religious.
In fact, an after thought, goofy fun and serious action aren't just not mutually exclusive but they compliment each other incredibly. Unfortunately global infrastructure leaves a lot to be desired and some faulty systems mixed with some bad actors in the political sphere make it almost impossible to have a lifestyle that is consistent with our values.
If you are depressed you don't have time for funny anagrams. If a homeless person has a funny sign, they haven't been homeless that long. Real homeless people are too hungry to be funny
Humor during dark or "depressed" times is often known as "gallows humor", coined as such because it was a way for some to cope when they were being taken to the gallows to be executed. It's absolutely a coping mechanism for many people. And I've met plenty of homeless folks who have been on the streets for years and still prefer "funny" signs for a variety of reasons including: feeling that at least their humor can't be taken from them (sense of empowerment), to still having a desire to making people laugh (sense of purpose), to stand out from others with signs (survival) and many others. Don't judge.
Forensic psychology? I pray you can make some positive improvements but i don't have much hope. We live in a postmodern corrosive world view at least in the western liberal populations. Power analysis replaced all other human principles.
To answer your question amanda a couple current issues that are going on today is illegal immigration and the crisis at the border and the economy and the rise of inflation because the cost of living has increased dramatically and we as a society are not getting as much for our dollar today as we were in years past.
There is a crisis at our border because the US has intervened in South and Central American governments, couping democratically elected leaders we determined to be not facist/right wing enough.
There is no crisis at the border, just business as usual. As if the recent inflation was caused by anything but the covid stimulus; money which ultimately ended up in the pockets of the rich and the government made no commitment to tax back. If you print billions of dollars and inject it into circulation, you will cause inflation. All that money was hoarded by the wealthy while the rest are left to deal with inflation years down the line.@@Belly_Beane

Hey props to you! It’s so rare people actually understand what it’s about. Love seeing people rediscovering rage thirty years later.
They are literally removing books from libraries today. No hyperbole.
Yep, Florida and Texas in particular are removing books that include topics like sex education, LGBTQ perspectives, systemic injustice, and the darker parts of American history.
Welcome to Florida, if you want to learn about history, go somewhere else.
True, but drop the right left political dogma. Look more closely into who is pushing censoring speech.
