    Our Husky was diagnosed with this just today. 😔 She's so good, and so healthy otherwise. Hopefully we caught it early and the medication will keep her in a healthy check. She goes back to the vet Dec 27th, wish us luck!!!

    My chihuahua was diagnosed with pannus today. Thank you for your video it was helpful. She has 2 different eye drops and an ointment for two weeks and we go back to the ophthalmologist to see how she is doing. I feel so bad for her but thankful that my vet realized there was more happening with her and sent us to the ophthalmologist.
    Thank you again for your video.🙏🏻

    Thank you for posting this video. I'm glad to hear Loki is doing better. I just took my five year old German Shepherd to the vet this morning due to discoloration in her eye. I suppose fortunately, they were able to diagnose her with Pannus on this first visit and we are starting treatment today. I had never heard of Pannus, and was afraid by what I read. It is very encouraging to see the effectiveness of the treatment on your Loki, and I am very grateful to have found your video.

      It was a struggle for me to get my dog's eye drops in, I go from behind and grab his head and neck area and have him looking at me and drop them in. And I use treats during this process. I'm not sure if this will help but this is how we have to deal with it. By all means do what you can to get the drops in.

      Hi sentinel. How are you? Always good to hear from you. All dogs can get Pannus but German shepherds have a higher rate. I’m so glad it can be treated and managed, the alternative is Loki going blind. Good to hear from you!

    I have been dealing with the same exact thing. Amin was diagnosed with atypical pannus by an ophthalmologist. We were given steroids and have been on a daily dose for 2 years without any improvement. Past 2 months he has gotten worse with his whites being inflamed. We are getting a second opinion and I will be sure to ask about your recommendation. I am hoping we can find a medication that reverses the symptoms. Your video has given me hope. Thank you for sharing!

      Try UV protection. Keep your dog out of the sun when UV rays are high. Usually if your shadow is your height or shorter, keep your dog inside, or have them wear UV protection goggles.

    Pannus - confirmed.
    Tacrolimus 0.03% Aqueous
    Suspension 10mL
    Plus
    Diclofenac 0.1%
    I'm curious why your GSD is on only the
    One set of eye drops. Thanks

      Hi dablock party. Sorry to hear about the diagnosis but the good news is if you take action now, your best friend won’t go blind. I was given 3 different prescriptions of steroids for Loki, they did nothing because they have zero effect on Pannus. Good luck with your buddy.

    Hi. I have a GSD diagnosed with pannus. We have it under control. The only flare up we have had was exactly 2 weeks post rabies vaccine. Anyone out there had a similar experience?? She is ok now, but the vaccine is due again. Also, fish oil, CBD, and raw goat milk were very helpful to build her immune system.

    • @stuartleonard8863
      @stuartleonard8863 9 месяцев назад

      Yes ours got her 5 days post annual vaccinations. She was fine before that.

      Hello, is there any way around getting the rabies vaccine? I know that the rabies vaccine isn't good for dogs with pannus. A lot of vets will refuse services if my dog isn't up to date, which forces me to have my dog boosted.

    Question.... I've bred / showed / trained GSD'S from the 1970's and never had or known of any other breeder of this breed. My concern is the breed being pre disposed ( inherited weakness) for this condition. I understand it's a disease...but traits for weak immune system should be of concern.

    • @climateanxiety2825
      @climateanxiety2825 Месяц назад

      It is genetic, and mainly in GSDs but not exclusively. It's NOT a weak immune system. It is an autoimmune disease where the dogs own immune system attacks their own tissues due to a trigger. In Pannus, it is UV rays. If the immune system was weak, the attacks would be weak too. It's simply a miscommunication.

    My German Shepherd was diagnosed pannus we are using eye drops . Has really scared me. I have two questions, first one was there like a white film over the cornea, second question do you use the goggles to protect the eyes from the Sun I was told that the sun exuberates it

    • @climateanxiety2825
      @climateanxiety2825 Месяц назад

      Check out Rex Specks. They have some good articles about it because they invented the goggles specifically for their German Shepherd with Pannus. They are expensive, but very good. There are cheaper goggles but just be sure the UV protection is good, since it is the UV rays that trigger the Pannus reaction.

    They diagnosed my german shepherd with pannus and prescribed Olfloxacin Opthalmic Solution 0.3% and I haven't seen much of a difference. This was the 3rd time going to the vet i cant keep affording to take days off from work let alone pay for medicine that doesn't work. Sigh I'll see if they can prescribe this

    • @barbaramaas2009
      @barbaramaas2009 Год назад

      Samurican, Olfloxacin is just an antibiotic that will have no effect on pannus. The most effective medication now is an ointment called Optimmune, which comes in a tube. It is the same medication that Loki is using in liquid drops form. Our poor German Shepherd was misdiagnosed and treated by two different veterinarians over a two-year period which caused his condition to get so much worse, with the growth stuff covering both eyes, with one being really bad. Finally saw the third vet who knew what it was and prescribed Optimmune. I've read that this ointment form stays on the cornea longer to do its job. Amazingly, our shepherd's eyes improved with one almost completely clear and the really bad one cleared enough that it is below his pupil and doesn't affect his sight at all. It's important to protect the eyes from UV light, limiting exposure outside to about 15 minutes. We are getting ready to order some Doggles (dog goggles). 😀
