How Bad was WrestleMania 32 REALLY?

- WrestleMania 32 is one of the most infamous WrestleMania's of all time, which is confusing because this was supposed to be the BIGGEST Mania of all time. 100,000 people at Cowboy staduim. People wanted the dream matches, people wanted The Rock vs Triple H, Undertaker vs. Cena, possibly The Shield Triple Threat, all matches that were rumored. The hype was insane, however as injuries piled up the Mania card got destroyed. WWE Champion Seth Rollins got injured, Cena, Orton and Sting were out. Even Bray Wyatt was out. Mania was looking to be a disaster, but even with all of that going on the WWE managed to put together a pretty solid card and the hype was back... and then the show started. How bad was WM 32? Lets find out!

How bad was 2018 wwe
To this day, I still don't get how they didn't pull the trigger on Dean not facing HHH at Mania & getting his moment. He was clearly the most overbaby face at that time.
Amen. You literally took the words out of my mouth. There was so many times where WWE could’ve pulled the trigger with Dean Ambrose considering the fact 2014 to early 2016 was over with the audience but always kept constantly making it clear to the fans that they were sticking with Roman Reigns and told us to shut up and deal with it. Those were very rough times.
The match couldve also been a lot better than the painfully boring one we got as Mox and Hunter had a great match a month prior at Roadblock
because ambrose is trash, we all saw it the last few years in aew
Dean Ambrose as WWE champion killed ratings 😂
In hindsight they are glad it was Roman reigns… Ambrose is in aew and has spoken bad about wwe..
“Tear in front of 900 people”
Bro you didn’t need to make TNA dirty 🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀
More like AEW
TNA had all the potential to be bigger than AEW and compete with WWE. Just everything about their system was the wrong place at the wrong time!

Shawn Michaels return coming ? I'm excited for it.
WrestleMania 32 had one of the worst timing with the injuries & bad decision before the PPV occured like Dean ambrose not getting the chance to face HHH at Mania.
Thank you. I’ve been saying this for like the past eight years Ambrose should’ve been the one to walk out of ‘Mania as the WWE champion, but typical WWE stuck with their precious golden boy Roman Reigns being shoved down our throats as the corny babyface whom the fans heavily rejected.
Don’t forget NXT Takeover Dallas. That also didn’t help matters
One of if not the worst wrestlemanias of all time
@@mycahjofficial nah man Roman was awful he was getting a bigger push then stone cold and John cena had that’s why Roman will never be on par with guys like Austin and cena who had it way harder the competition level just isn’t close to what cena and stone cold had gone through
it's trash. and it's where the women's division started getting worse.
I remember reading dirt sheets back in 2016 and apparently the confusing booking was "to keep swerving the audience with negative outcomes so when Roman wins they'll cheer", the whole show was designed to get Roman over.
VINCE MCMAHON REVENGE TOUR
They were doing anything just to make Roman over 🤣
That makes so much sense as to why there were so many heel victories on the show. Only Zack Ryder and Roman Reigns (at least in the company's plans) won on the main card.
@@WrestlinGifs I say mania 27 was better then mania 32
Vince is/was so nuts that even though this sounds insane, I can actually somewhat believe it. Vince sabotaging the rest of the show to get his main guy over sounds like something he'd try.
I still don’t understand why Jericho had to beat AJ Styles in his WrestleMania debut but I guess that was his get back for losing to Fandango at WM 29
Wait until you remember what happened to everyone else on the card. VINCE MCMAHON REVENGE TOUR 💀
The thing that's weird is that they had already faced each other 3 times, so this was technically their fourth match after a small Y2AJ gimmick.
Probably because Vince didn’t want TNA’s AJ Styles to go over on WWE’s Chris Jericho in his first match, he’s notoriously petty like that, Sting vs Triple H for example 😅
He was in his hulk hogan mood

Crazy to think that apparently the original plan was Undertaker vs Sting, then after Sting got injured Plan B was Undertaker vs John Cena. Then Cena got injured so Shane was Plan C.
It's such a shame, I always figured they were gonna do Undertaker vs Sting at this year's mania before he got injured. It would've been amazing
@@dwightyboy5324 taker vs sting, seth vs roman vs Dean, hhh vs rock, Wyatt vs Shane let's assume also 1 cena and randy match those were potential matches we would've got if there was no injuries
@@thegameking3931 honestly that would've been way cooler. It does sound believable we could've gotten those matches that year.
@@thegameking3931One thing I don't understand is why the hell was there a need for Triple H to win another WWE championship.
Honestly how would Shane end up as plan C?? He would probably be my plan W or something
I was 12 when WrestleMania 32 aired, everything else to me was blank memory besides The Hell In A Cell Match between Shane and Undertaker.
Thus wrestlemania is probably near lost memory of this one
Man don't put out ages. Makes me feel already old😢
@@ShubhamMishrabroBro i refuse to believe this happened 8 years ago, i remember the whole show so well and clearly despite seeing it once when it aired.
This is like WrestleMania 25. They undid everything at backlash 2009 😂
What matches did they undo
@@FlareDope Edge won the WHC back from Cena which Cena had won from Edge at WrestleMania. Other than that, I don't know. Yeah Randy won the WWE title in that 6-man tag team match but HHH hadn't won the title at Mania from Orton, he had actually successfully defended it in a singles match so Randy winning it at Backlash can't be called 'undoing' it. So yeah... I don't know what OC means by 'undoing everything'.
@@DrHannibal1105 basically, every title changed hands at backlash. Even Matt Hardy who beat Jeff at mania lost at backlash
I’ll still never understand why they made Matt beat Jeff who at the time was the most popular wrestler lose at Mania 25, just bad booking
25 is NOT bad. Still better than manias nowadays.
The only thing I remember that weekend was takeover dallas Nakamura vs Zayn tore the house down and made me return to watch wrestling again

The match I genuinely enjoyed in WrestleMania 32.
This could have been the biggest WrestleMania of all time with the roster that they had and the record attendance. Unfortunately horrible booking and a massive amounts of injuries completely wasted This PPV's potential
I’m not going to lie, I loved this Wrestlemania as a kid, but now that I look back on it, holy shit was it bad

I watched it with family so it's important because of that
The nice thing with Shane vs Taker was more of the ring psychology. Taker compensated his lack of physical ability by using logic and and psychology with every old man movement, selling, punch and facial expression makes sense. Taker is truly the GOAT and old Taker proves it cuz he really sold like someone his age and this strangely made his matches even more realistic.
That was my first Wrestlemania attending. After it was over, my buddy and I heading back to our hotel. We both were like, being there was awesome, but if we watched it at home, it would've been buttcheeks.
Man I was so hyped for dean vs Brock it’s actual build up was top notch
Yes but terrible fucking match man. Like how
Brock probably wanted Ambrose to be dominated the first half and then Ambrose would dominate the second half with brock probably loosing the match. He used the same method on John Cena, Kurt Angle, HHH, Undertaker & C M Punk and a few years later Daniel Brian. But, Vince was like "it's a squash match" therefore the disappointing match.
Also, it was Brock's idea to film the attack on Ambrose on phone to add realism and Ambrose crawling bearly to the arena from hospital. The build-up was top notch because both Brock & Ambrose were invested in the story.
When part timers got more spotlight than the hard working one's. You know it's bad.

People forget that, when Undertaker vs Shane was first announced, Shane only had to compete in the match. Vince, himself said, he'd give Shane what he wanted, so long as he had one match, one night. I feel that, not only the fans, but WWE themselves in the build up, forget that detail
First mania I attended in person and I was like 13. It was fun of course but it just felt like everyone we wanted to go over lost
Just that they kept you kids out past 11 p.m. on a school night was a horrible decision! I attended as well, and my host was a teacher, so once the main event introductions started, I told her that I would meet her outside the stadium
I was at that show. People were booing the main event all the way through and tons of people were leaving before the match even ended. When my friends and I walked back to our hotel, we all felt so disappointed that we drove from Canada to see that travesty of a Wrestlemania.
It will forever have a deep place in my heart since it was my first WrestleMania

Lesnar vs Austin
Undertaker vs Cena (Cena was injured)
Shane McMahon vs Triple H
This mania will always have a special place in my heart because it was the very first one I ever went to live
Your Rebooking WrestleMania 32 video was one of my favorite videos of all time. I really wish you would bring that series back and rebook some different manias good or bad!
I still think WM 27 was worse
Unlike in 2016, back then you had no WWE Network (if you wanted to watch better Manias), no NXT as an alternative, and no injury excuses
9, 27, and 32 are the top three of bad WrestleManias for sure.
True, I've watched both shows and I watched buildups as they were happening, and 32 is still a better show. Yeah neither shows were great, but I'd rather rewatch 32 over 27 anytime.

The worst part about the Women's Title match is that the fans actually LIKED Charlotte back then. They were excited about the Four Horsewoman changing the woman's division going forward. But her winning this match at Mania with the help of her dad followed by the hot potato title rivalry she would have with Sasha afterwards really was the catalyst that made fans start to turn on her.
Saying Taker should have lost to Shane is wild though!

Disappointing Cena match, Why book Brock vs Roman only to have Brock destory him sensibly if they wanted to make him big even if it was already too late for that
As a matter a fact why not have Cena and Brock have it out at wrestlemania and have Cena finally defeat him or have Cena defeat Roman SOMETHING OTHER THAN WHAT WE GOT
@@YuriChan640And giving AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura the freedom to repeat their Wrestle Kingdom match instead of being limited to give time to Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar.
@@momelendez9691 Or why not AJ Styles vs John Cena or like I said anything other than what we got
@@YuriChan640 Because they had already finished that storyline the year prior and had John Cena tie Ric Flair’s record. Nakamura was very over with the crowd in 2018 after coming up from NXT the year prior and AJ was putting up crazy matches too. The hype for their rematch was insane and they deserved in ring freedom and more time to go off. Their match was very limited hence why it was a huge disappointment.
Technically that Shane & Taker match didn't say Shane had to win he just had to compete against The Undertaker not necessarily did he have to win.
Mania 32 was the last WWE show I ever watched. You put it in words better than I ever could.
It’s a beautiful day every time this guy posts
Seemingly their entire game plan was to have all the heels win so when Roman won, the crowd would finally have something to cheer for because a face finally won. (From my understanding, Zack Ryder's win originally wasn't supposed to happen.) And on top of that the show just seemed to drag on forever and ever. My favorite parts of that WrestleMania weekend were NXT Dallas and seeing Enzo and Cass show up the next night on Raw. To me, it felt like nothing on the PPV mattered and it felt like it would never end. (Edit: A PPV being long doesn't mean it's bad. If it's a good show, it can be a long show, but it won't feel long.)
I’ll always have a soft spot for this Mania since it was my first one live in attendance. I always consider this Mania a show of “moments” versus actual match quality. Great video analysis Pav, keep them coming!
The only I thing I remembered was obviously your obligatory Kick ass Triple H entrance
I still never understood how Zack Ryder won the Intercontinental Championship at Mania and then loses the title the following night
On one hand, this show was cursed with injuries. On the other, the show is cursed with bad booking 😅
I actually really liked your rebooking you did of this show a while back, Pav. It saved the main event and would've been such a boss way to introduce AJ by immediately having him beef with Beast Mode Lesnar.
These are the matches that that we should have gotten.
Shane McMahon vs Triple H
Brock vs The Wyatt family
Dean vs Roman Reigns
Shane winning that night would’ve made his “greatest in the world” title a tad bit more believable
Bro just be consistent for like 2 years I will guarantee you will get to million
Barely in 2024 and bro is putting nothing but straight banger after banger like prime cena
This Wrestlemania is an interesting relic from a now bygone era. It was a time when Vince McMahon was at the peak of his narcissism against the fans, and it seemed like every decision made on this night was done out of spite, as if to throw both middle fingers at the viewers and say "I'll do whatever I want, and you will like it!". Fans couldn't even turn to the competition, as Impact was in an "it exists" era, NJPW was still quite niche outside of Japan and the hardcore fans, and AEW wouldn't debut for another three years.
Thankfully in 2024, we seem to be on the long climb out of that darkness, but this event should always remind us of how bleak the final years of the McMahon regime were, and hopefully we'll never see a disaster like this again.

I was there live and holy shit the fans crapped all over the main event match, a good portion of the fans walked out before the main event started and also fans were either cheering for triple h and of course booing Roman, chanting for NXT stars, and chanting for CM Punk. I still don’t understand why they would have Ryder lose the belt the next night
From what I've read the Miz was supposed to win at WM32 but he persuaded them to give it to Ryder so be could have a WM moment. To keep their plans on track they just had Miz win it the next night.
