Great job, thank you indeed for that! However, I've no idea with regards to right amount of money that I need to start and maintain sustainability in the future smoothly. Could you shed some light on your or some average childminder budget of income and expenses please?
Hi, you're welcome! Your expenses are going to depend on a few factors i.e. how many children your planning to have in your setting and their ages, days out, operating hours, whether you offer food (some childminders ask parents to bring food) etc... As a new childminder you'll be tempted to purchase every and anything straight away, but try not to. I would also look at what your allowable expenses are with HMRC so you know what you can claim back as an expense. Hope that helps and good luck to you!
Hi Muvacan, I really loved your video. I have really wanted to get into childminding and have made enquiries about getting set up though an childminding agency as i thought the process might be quicker and more straightforward. However after watching your video maybe I will go directly through ofsted. Also i have been woth my current employer for over 10 years and am worried about not having an stable income, do you sometimes find it hard to find children to look after or get gaps in self employment that you cannot fill. Thank you x😊
Hi, thanks for your message. I don't know much about childminding agencies tbh, but I found it quite simple doing it directly with Ofsted, which I think now will be via the .GOV website. In terms of leaving your employer - If you're concerned, I would say prepare as much as you can before leaving, and put money aside for your household expenses so at least they'll be covered. I gave a months notice to my employer but it was also like putting myself on notice too - like.. "it has to work or it has to work". I was so committed to changing my life that I was going to take the risk and figure things out once hurdles came, but honestly, try not to overthink it as this can lead to procrastination. I've been fully booked and I've also had periods of having only two children but have always had children to look after. You can't be fully prepared for something that is new, but you'll figure it out and be fine. Good luck with your new journey xx

Hi, it's really up to the individual how much they would like to charge. I would see what others close by are charging (including nurseries) and use that as a guideline. Don't under price yourself just because you're a new childminder but make sure your pricing reflects the value you give. Think about if you will charge an hourly, daily or weekly rate and if this should be paid in advance or at the end of each day, week or month. Hope this helps and good luck
