    I won't stand up for someone who won't stand up for the schoos in the conference that he leads! He is a follower, a go along to get along, don't rock the boat guy! He's comfortable with his pay but refuses to fight for better pay for the schools in his conference!

    Hear me out...
    Would ESPN, the same network that screwed FSU, be in contact with FSU and Clemson to leave the conference, set up an 1 year TV deal with both schools, just simply to end the ACC TV deal prior to July 1 when SMU joins or August 1 when the other 2 join? Could they guarantee the 2 schools more money as 1 year independent schools than they would make under the ACC contract, all while ESPN lowers the revenue for all teams left in the ACC? I could see that happening. We all know that ESPN cares about their bottom line most of all, afterall they are a Disney company.

      i don't know if E$PN would risk that sort of a thing getting out. but for sure you know that now that they sewed up the P2 arrangement, they are working out all the details of the new deals for the leftover teams. ACC will be cut loose the day all those deals are ready to launch and no doubt those offers will be in the hands of FSU and clemson the same day (if the schools haven't already joined a P2 conference by that time)
      the delay is for E$PN's benefit only

      It's a nice thought, but Florida State would not work with ESPN. FSU doesn't trust ESPN and there is no reason to trust ESPN.
      FSU leaves and joins Big 10 which ESPN does not want to happen, but it's too late. ESPN knows this and has nothing to gain from FSU leaving.
      ESPN at this point will not lose more money on the ACC. When FSU and Clemson are gone from the conference the contract between ACC and ESPN is terminated. A new contract is possible but greatly reduced in value.
      No deal between FSU and ESPN is possible. Not a chance. Untrusted.
      Fear the Spear!

    If the ACC offered FSU $70M a year from the media money to stay until 2036, would they stay? If would save a massive exit fee.

    I think EPSN will restructure the contract with the ACC, but with major opt out clauses, and at an extremely reduced rate to what is already a clown contract.
    Phillips is that CEO that is there to destroy a company, and he's doing it well.

    Philips said that Basketball is where the money is and football is nice to have. ACC is still just a basketball conference and that is why FSU and Clemson are not backed by the ACC. Philips doesn't care about football.

    How can fsu leave on or before June 30? Without playing that huge exit fee

    • @joshhazelip7841
      @joshhazelip7841 19 дней назад

      FSU only has in inform the league of their intentions to leave. Then from there it’s a negotiation. Also with the on going litigation it would get put on hold.

  • @terrywhite6269

    Can you help us out by defining exactly what "officially leaving the ACC" really means in order to trigger the composition clause in the ESPN/ACC contract? How much notice, if any, must a school provide to the ACC? Must an agreed upon exit fee be paid prior to a school's exit? Is there anyone who has access to this confidential contract willing to go on the record to explain exactly what it says? Otherwise this video seems like more speculation, which may get you views, but doesn't shed much light on the problem. "Officially leaving the ACC" means different things to different groups, YMMV.

      great question for doug rohan, actually. it might be as simple as serving them notice. i doubt they have to have finalized all details and payments, but i'm just a schlub on the internet, what do i know?

      @tomrowland4426 21 день назад +2

      Good question but not only is the ACC contract confidential so is the ESPN contract so almost no one knows just what the contract says. That being said anyone who has taken a law school course like Contracts 101 will say there is no such thing as a bullet proof contract.

    Can I just say one thing as a huge FSU fan here's the thing Florida states did not know that deal was going to go on and yeah it might have been a foolish deal but here's the thing the one that made them sign that contract is John Swoffrd former ACC commissioner got so greedy it's not it's pathetic his personal needs his selfish dealing and now it's coming by back and bite him in the butt the former ACC commissioner is being sued by Florida State and Florida state if they are successful by this former ACC commissioner the former ACC commissioner is going to jail for 10 years I was told guys if we're successful the former ACC commissioner John Swafford will go to prison for 10 years no doubt in my mind 10 years in prison or he has to pay $2 billion dollar fine and that's the former ACC commissioner not the current not the current commissioner the only thing Jim Phillips will be penalized is $1,000 fine and maybe suspended for 10 years as a commissioner and there's a huge Florida State fan that's been in Florida State Fair for all his life 20 something and a half years Because I'm 39 years old oh yeah I was told this was illegal the former commissioner could be in a lot of trouble with former ACC commissioner could go to prison within 10 years or paid $200 billion dollar fine it'll be up to him it'll be his decision but I hope he makes the right decision Because if not they said they're not going to protect them in prison they want they're going to want people to beat him up and then he's going to end up dying cast of blame but himself.? @Mr.Ed_Wayner

    One thought I have is FSU is a top 15 program in revenue when we have played schools like syracuse, boston college, wake (who average being barely bowl eligible most years with some clunkers and some solid seasons as outliers, but even then dont draw huge audiences) Louisville, and NC state (who have solid teams most years but not elite and average rank in the 50s in viewership). Clemson and Miami are the really the only big brands that we have played every year in our conference that we can guarantee will be a highly watched game. Even then Miami has fallen off a bit on the TV ratings side. Imagine what our tv numbers would bring if we didnt have 1 team on our conference schedule that has consistently been in the top 20 in viewership? 2018-21 were our worst years since pre bowden and we still ranked and we still ranked in top 25 in viewership each year.
    How much revenue will we bring in playing 5 -7 top brands in either the SEC or Big 10 instead of having the ACC that has one school besides us that place in the top 25 every year? LSU vs FSU was a top 10 viewed game last year imagine most of our conference games being like that.

    The Option to Extend is NOT the "Look-un" - the "Look-in" is if the conference membership ranks drop below 14+ND (composition clause).

    My bet is that there is a vote called by the ACC teams and the conference is eventually dissolved before the end of any kind of lawsuit happens and then there's an amended lawsuit for damages rather than anything else

  • @Donovan_Williams

    JT, I get your point that FSU and Clemson can pull the plug on the conference if they leave before July 1. I don't disagree with you. But how can we actually leave that quickly? Where would we go? Its too late to change schedules for 2024. I don't see how this is even possible.
