    He talks about football being great but didn't even support FSU into getting into the playoffs. ACC is garbage defender to it's teams. Even the ACC officials are against their own teams

    This commissioner's 27 minute discussion perfectly encapsulates the reasons why FSU and Clemson have to leave. ASAP.

    The fact that he thinks that SMU = Dallas Market and Stanford/Cal = San Francisco Market is idiotic.

  • @seekingthetruth2748
    @seekingthetruth2748 29 дней назад +11

    Now I understand why the ACC is so crappy defending their football teams. He still thinks basketball brings in the majority of the money. He obviously hasn't kept up and still works as if the conference is only basketball. He needs to let FSU and Clemson leave with little to no exit fee and only 1-2 gor cost. $600M is too excessive.

  • @seekingthetruth2748
    @seekingthetruth2748 29 дней назад +11

    If he really thinks SMU and Cal is good for the conference then he should let FSU and Clemson leave with little to no buyout.

      I 1000% agree. Clem-Tech and Mid-Florida Community College should simply pony up that $500 million exit fee for each school and get the "heck' out of the ACC (hey, the AAC will always be there for you). Or [and, I 100% know this sounds just crazy], Clemson, FSU and all their officials and low-class fanbases could just shut their whinining, unknowing pie-holes until these poor lawyers finish getting paid their millions and the courts decide.
      I mean...you know, thats what should happen.

    It’s clear, the ACC was and now has circled back to being primarily a basketball conference. Sure FSU joined in 1992 to enhance the conference’s football reputation. FSU and Clemson won 5 national championships since then but this past year the ACC was passive with a 13-0 FSU team being left out of the playoff, yeah let’s just forget that.
    You factor that with the conference agreement with ESPN, the duration of the contract, the complacency of the commissioner, the financial disadvantages vs competition in other conferences, it’s hard to ignore the dead end approaching. And Yet, we have a soft spoken commissioner who lauds everyone on good behavior, his inept leadership could not be more concerning. UNC is arguing amongst itself about leaving, that should be quite alarming considering that the ACC is so centric towards the state of North Carolina it is detrimental to member not based there. I can only shake my head watching this guy and hope FSU and Clemson can break free. As for UNC… these are your people you are working against, sorry bout your bad luck.

  • @SamOgilvieJr

    As an Ohio State alum who grew up in NC, lives in NC and attended UNC briefly, it seems that FSU and Clemson should work closely with other conference members to secure a better television contract and demand an equal share of football playoff money, both distinct possibilities. Assuming equal funding, both schools should see improved competitiveness in(currently) football-centered collegiate athletics. Until the NCAA, via state and federal governance, adopts an NFL-like regulatory structure regarding NIL, the transfer portal, etc., even the Alabamas of the world face an uncertain future. My alma mater has bet the farm on the upcoming football season, and considering that the school fields 36 athletic teams, who knows if that is sustainable, even with tv money flowing without interruption.

    • @jamesb0255
      @jamesb0255 29 дней назад +3

      Why would we do that when we are the only two teams bringing in significant football revenue?! Stay in your lane bro.

    • @SamOgilvieJr
      @SamOgilvieJr 29 дней назад

      I am in my lane. I am a taxpaying USA citizen who understands, regrettably, the role athletics plays in the health and vitality of our colleges and universities. Though the vast majority of college and university athletic programs lose money annually, there is a direct correlation between athletic success and enrollments and alumni support, as everyone knows. I get that and I get the fact that football and basketball programs fund all the "nonrevenue" sports. Considering FSU's relative lack of success in the ACC since 2016 and Clemson's recent struggles(maybe because they have not embraced NIL and lost some great coaches), you might be wishing you had stayed in your lane when you line up against Alabama et al on a weekly basis. If money is distributed on the basis of success, and it might well be, you could be singing the blues as the gap between your team and other powerhouses widens even more. In addition, that revenue stream from tv is not guaranteed. ESPN's loss of paid cable subscribers and money losing streaming divisions hint that the golden goose isn't as strong as one might believe.

    And no one ask why there is a $40 million deficit every year compared to the other conferences? Yet he says the ACC is on the cutting edge... what a buffoon.

    The new three bring nothing to the ACC revenue except higher travel expenses .Nothing personal. The power 2 kicked everyone down to lesser worth in their eyes and in revenue . The ACC commish just said yeah you are right and now the revenue share is lesser... If you want to get paid now then you have to put it on the field- But can't when you getting a lot less than the power 2. ACC is crap in others eyes except FSU and Clemson in football... The good old boys mentality needs to die as you are getting left way behind !Evolve or die... ACC be gone in less than 5 years...

    • @sophecles2b
      @sophecles2b 29 дней назад +1

      @@jamesb0255 I read both and Clemson is challenging the media agreement between ESPN and the ACC and that that agreement was made after Clemson signed the media rights with the ACC which makes that contract null. FSU is challenging the fee the ACC is requesting to exit the league; perhaps you should read it before you make inept remarks. Clemson has a better case and is why the SC courts ruled in their favor. Clemson wants the rights to their media.

    • @LKnolesNS7125
      @LKnolesNS7125 27 дней назад

      Let’s be clear, the exit fee is the cost of the media rights… Clemsons lawsuit is based off of what FSU started Clemson wouldn’t even be suing if FSU didn’t pave the way. The entire law suit is over media rights so they can sell them to big 10/sec when they leave the ACC. Comprehension is key because it really is the same thing

    • @sophecles2b
      @sophecles2b 27 дней назад

      @@LKnolesNS7125 FSU gets about 13 mil views per game Clemson is about 5 mil a game so yes, FSU would likely get a SEC or Big 10 invite, Clemson although they are competitive does not meet that threshold, they are more inline with the Big12 but Clemson is not necessarily wanting to exit, Clemson wants to own their rights; they could negotiate to share what percentage with the ACC of what ever line share they negotiate with any network to wear the ACC badging. ND does it now; Clemson sharing far more of the media with other schools with UNC being closest with only a little over 2 mil views per game. Clemson gets their rights and they can make a deal with Fox and Fox will pay the institution not the league and Clemson will negotiate with the ACC to say, we will share 10% to wear the ACC badge or logo instead of the ACC putting all the revenue in one pot and sharing with all members. This is what Clemson suit...the exit fee is just contractual to exit the rights not necessarily exit the league.
