    Really cool! I've got to try something with Jesmonite now! Also going to put that auto clay technique to use for epoxy and concrete casting.
    One idea for you on the curved sides of the mold. You can get PVC trim (designed for baseboards) for super cheap at big box stores here in the U.S....its fairly flexible and definitely much less expensive than polycarbonate. Not sure if its available on your side of the pond, but might be worth looking for.

    • @TerkanTyr

      I checked the prices and it's not that expensive here. Maybe a couple dollars for that strip. I understand that in America budget is of massive concern, though. Especially nowadays.

    This table arrived well packaged and on time. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxn94T8Mu1iMnsLCMNOI9srXSsLkI4JXKW Like another reviewer advised, I pulled everything out and made sure everything was included (everything was!). I built it alone and it took me about an hour. The color is great and for the price the lift part works well. As others have mentioned, it’s not the smoothest opening/closing, but it works. The screws do show, but I plan to order white sticker covers if that bothers us too much. Really happy with this table! UPDATE: it’s been over a year since we got this coffee table and we still love it! It gets HEAVY use as our dining table, foot rest, and school desk. Over time, the opening and closing mechanism has gotten smoother. I added a new photo with the white screw cover stickers. They blend in perfectly and make it look a little cleaner. 100% recommend!!!

    • @ccow11

      @@tiloalo LMAO! Sometimes that's true, but sometimes the dimensional accuracy of a printer for these things is much better than you can get with woodworking tools. Not to mention safer than using saws on a piece of wood that size. Hopefully that part wouldn't take anyone 2 hours to model 😂

    • @DavidGarcia-nx2gj
      @DavidGarcia-nx2gj 3 года назад +1

      @@tiloalo depends this guy have a lot of experience designing so it would'nt take too much time but 3d printing oh god that takes a serious time, the benefits is you can make it better, with complex shapes and in the meantime you could be doing something else so I all i see 3d printing is better.

    So, my daughter and I were watching this a few minutes ago, and I asked her what you should make next. She said a desk. (You're still using that old door, right?) I told her a Jesmonite plank that big would be too heavy. She said the desk should be wood. Maybe a Jesmonite inlay?
    After some back and forth, we came up with the idea of a wood-topped desk, with Jesmonite drawer faces. Maybe use some of your 3D printed drawer handles to trim them out?

    Nice project. Isn't Jesmonite a much better product than concrete and epoxi when it come to casting tops ?! I'm not sure what it takes to produce Jesmonite but I guess the fact that it's water based makes it much less toxic than epoxi, in the first place. And then doesn't it take way less energy to produce than concrete? I worked once with Jesmonite in the past (without pigments nor sealer) and found it easy to handle in terms of health concerns and the like. What are your thoughts on that ?? cheers, thanks for quality YT material.

    Thanks I've just discovered this product, very interesting. A question, can I pour this onto a wood base and leave the wood, maybe 10 mm of wood and 15 mm of Jesmonite? I need to make a surface with a square hole to insert a stove panel and I was afraid that the Jesmonite alone wouldn't be strong enough to bear the tension. Would the Jesmonite bond with the wood without a release agent or would I have to staple some wire to the wood to give it a grip ? It would also save on the amount of Jesmonite. The sides of the base are about ten cms wide with the hole being about 45 x 60 so a total panel of 65 x 80 approx. Not sure if that's clear. Thanks

    Embedd some screws with wide and thin washers during molding, as a later attachment points. (Washers required for bigger surface, so they will not break out so easily from the final product.)

    If you don't get all colours mixed to the same consistency it will crack along the borders to the colours especially if it is gets the sun on it. From experience in the past.

    I'm curious as to how durable this material is without adding any glass fibers or the like to it? Can't really find any info on it.
