I would be happy to give Elon my proxy over my shares. May he should put up a form on the Tesla website for stock owners to sign off on giving him voting proxy of their shares. Hopefully he will somehow get his compensation he is due.

I live in SF and today was my first time to use FSD V12. I was by ocean beach near the Cliff House and heading back home to State College area. It was a beautiful view of the Ocean and all it waves so I am on this two lane road heading south. There was a car on my left side blocking some of my view to the left. As I approach a pedestrian X walk which had no signal light or stop sign, my car suddenly stopped. I was a bit surprised but the driver to my left continue to speed pass the crosswalk. Once the car to my left pass far enough, I saw a lady holding two dogs moving towards the beach about 5 mph. Now I understood why my car stopped. I was surprised to see a pedestrian and her dogs. My car saw things I wasn't aware of cause I had part of my attention at the beautiful waves of the ocean plus the car to my left was blocking total view to my left Yes I was slightly distracted and the driver to my left definitely was wrong to not stop for the dog and pedestrian. They were big dogs and it looked like she didn't have control of them. The dogs wanted to go to the beach so yes, I am glad my Tesla made the right move to stop. Good job V12.3.3. you have earned my appreciation for doing a great job.

The reason engineers are going to XAI is because autopilot is now solved. It is now known that they have solved it. These engineers want to move on to something else to solve.

@@ssing7113 Maybe but I think they are interested in AGI and Elon has said that until he has a voting block inside of Tesla that he does not want to pursue AGI inside of Tesla. He is severely worried that a group of stock holders will try to take Tesla over and he doesn't trust their motives.
I'm pretty sure that was the reason for XAI so that he could work on AGI in a company that cares whether it can get out of control or not. One that he has control over.
@@tedmoss All that remains is further refinement of the data that goes into the system and more and more good data. It's pretty much rinse and repeat going forward.... minimal new coding required if any.

They've increased the number of edge cases *while the car is in control* (and with less experienced users) by an order of magnitude *because now they have the compute to collect them all and affect a first time fix*

I predict a month of data collection, a few weeks of checking the result, then maybe the same again.

That's going to mop up *a lot* more obsure cases the second time.

The history of Apple should have taught us small investors how we should be cautious of institutional investors who try to mingle with the management of a successful business. There are now many institutional investors who thought they could dictate what they want from Tesla and ease out Elon Musk from the company just like what had happened to Steve Jobs. I would not blame Elon if he will be too cautious.

I had also stopped using FSD on highways until v12.3. Just finished a 1,200 mile trip where car drove vast majority -- and only had short stretch with phantom breaking due to tar marks plus heat haze. I'm about 99% happy with performance and seriously hated stretch where I couldn't use FSD... it is so much better than I am at basic driving.
Only difference for me is phantom braking, no I didn't break any (phantoms). I did get a black mark on my rear bumper evading a large black pickup truck. (That was close).

St Pete FL beaches to and from Tampa airport, ~30 min drive 50% in moderately heavy highway traffic and 50% city driving. zero interventions.

Remember, no publicity is death, what you said is what this means. Conversely, any publicity for Tesla is good, especially if it is free, the best publicity is free. It does not matter if it is considered good or bad.

I find with V12, when changing lanes, it first does a dummy lane change and then only does it change lanes. It's annoying.

Yeah smooth acceleration in V12 needs improvement. I notice it creeps out in turn then floors it when straight . When I am driving I usually accelerate smoothly through the turn. Today it tried to park next to a Red marked Curb.
TACC has been greatly improved too and the phantom braking on two lane roads is seemingly gone.
Can't wait to hear your commentary on Ford's further cuts to EV production and development.

Since trying FSD with free trial, it’s not quite right. I disengaged at least 2 times on each one way trip. The car can’t read the speed signs on the road so it keeps traveling too fast. One time, it was on the wrong lane when the road forks (splits). Another time, it was following the car ahead too closely.
So far, a fail. Needs more work.
I have a service appointment Friday to install the hardware in my Model X for FSD ahead of my free trial. I’m confident I’ll be subscribing after the trial.
Matt, what version of FSD do you have? To get FSD 12.3.3 you sometimes have to go into the Software menu in your car and scroll down. This will cause it to look for updates. It should then start pulling down 12.3.3.
mine is 12.3.3
I nominate London Ontario Canada for robotaxi pilot as it has a simple grid infrastructure with the occasional round-a-bouts popping up in newer subdivisions...not to mention a large university population to boot
Matt & James Stephenson you know if you want to change earlier you just need to signal. IMO doing so will be recorded and perhaps adjustments may be made by the FSD team.
The only issue I am having with 12.3.3 is the navigation data is still poor and speed limits on said navigation are "spotty"

BYD doesn't have high volume production on many of their individual vehicle platforms through and has a higher cost base to Tesla. It's likely BYD uses different parts for the different models, also BYD does manufacture their own batteries at high scale as well. They are only focused on China, whereas Tesla has to manage a much more complex global supply chain.
Regarding your delayed acceleration when leaving a traffic signal… Does this happen only when someone is in front of you or all the time? If there is someone in front of you, your acceleration might possibly be limited by the following distance/time you have configured in the adaptive cruise control?
I think when I had someone in front of me it didn't happen, it happened mostly think when no one was in front of me but I will pay closer attention to it next time

FSD is amazing and really unbelievable. Yes moving over slightly in the lane for big trucks makes it feel very confident. It drives better that I do
12.3.3 accelerates too fast for me, even on ‘Chill’. But, I’m 77! Just took another ‘no intervention’ trip and I am completely amazed.
I had a scarry event this week. Driving in the mountains in late evening while on FSD 12.3, we rounded a hard curve and I was blinded by the setting sun... so was Tesla vision and I felt he car leave the edge of pavement (there was NO shoulder just a step drop-off) I pulled the steering wheel left and barely regained control. Would radar have prevented this blinding condition?
My version of FSD v12 must be a spazz or have corrupted code because it is not performing on par with the great drives experienced by other Tesla owners. It is better than Autopilot but that isn’t seeing a lot. None of my drives have been as challenging as the drives I see others put their cars through. It has not met my expectations.
Perhaps it’s keeping an eye on traffic in a 360 area?

Elon should (and has ) tout his acumen at hiring and training engineers, where else is this happening? It used to be IBM that lost engineers to other companies.

What if we could tell ( verbally ) the car what lane we favored to influence its decision process. “Please use the right lane to be prepared for a future turn”.
I think it just corrected because it was way under valued despite deliveries.

I created a spreadsheet when I was choosing which car to buy, but I am an engineer.
I had a scary experience yesterday with V12. Turning right onto a 3 lane boulevard, I was looking to my left and there are no cars coming yet the car wasn't moving forward, I gave it a slight accelerator press and then it took off. All of a sudden in the dark I see a woman and her child crossing the boulevard about 100 feet in front of me and the car is accelerating. I obviously intervened and was shaken by the experience. The issue is that once the driver press the accelerator to proceed, V12 interprets that as a "disregard obstacle" message. Problem is I didn't see what it saw!!! To me this was a clos call and I don't know what would have happened if I let the car continue accelerating.
You are in control of the car all the time. if you override the FSD you are still in control. " if I let the car continue"? I believe it would not hit people no matter what in FSD otherwise it would scream at you a lot

Once the driver presses the accelerator, mostly because V12 is being too timid (99% of the time) you feel the car speed up as if to say "OK I trust you lets get going". It's exactly at this point where the car was in the process of straitening out and started to accelerate hard that I saw the pedestrians 50 to 100 feet in front of me. Keep in mind it was night time, this was a poorly lit section and the woman and child were jay walking (running). At that distance and with the acceleration happening I stabbed the brakes.
This is why I now believe that pressing the pedal, is actually telling FSD "disregard concern and proceed". It makes sense, but I never saw it that way. I thought it wouldn't let you accelerate towards pedestrians under any pretence.
They need to advertise a FSD navigating crazy situations - just show a video of the FSD12 clips and it'll be the ultimate gamechanger for public perception
I agree, but I would wait a little longer to get the kinks out, but in the meantime get a small marketing team to make a strategy, get the videos and website up and running and also link them with PR and lawyers for any issues that arise to keep the media bias low.
As I see it currently Tesla don't have a real competitors besides of BYD at the EV market, all the other car companies try to copy Tesla

Wow being 1st to market really cashed in for TESLA. The industry is forced to adapt to the TESLA charge, the plug. They are build their cars around TESLA batteries, and now they will be forced to lease TESLA's FSD system. Plus soon TESLA bots will replace fast food workers... Wow. I own 8 shares.

Of course AI people will move. This massive shift to small code lines and video based learning models, sort of once matured limits where AI development in Tesla can go.
Elon is right to keep talent under his overall umbrella, no matter the company. We have no idea what Elon has in store for his new venture the could catapult Tesla and/or SpaceX or 'X' through licensing what's or will be created. The not just a Tesla thing.
Matt turn up the volume on this: Ask yourself how many times would you need to stop at a gas station if your car was FULL every morning. That’s answers both “dead battery anxiety”,“availability of charging stations” arguments. Next question please. Matt you have a very influential and respected platform. I’m buying all “dips”. Love your show. (for road trips of course you will need charging about every 3-4-5 hours, just like refueling gas for ICE)

How many actually plan to use FSD in private? I would be freakin' anxious even if FSD was superhuman. I would also be scared that I'd lose a vital skill over time and if shit hits the fan on the road I won't be all helpless and incapable myself. Idk something about this whole feature screams food processor which is great and all, but knowing how to use a knife just feels better and more natural.
Sadly, I've given up on Canoo. Their 23-1 reverse split, taking approx 6000 shares to 260 was pure BS and now, it's falling even further. I sold without losing too much, but I've since lost faith in them.
Yes, Elon deserves the package and I believe he's sandbagging Tesla, albeit discreetly, until the package is authorized.

Being poached or otherwise switching companies is the norm for Silicon Valley, Tesla has *apparently* retained better than most.
I think tesla should own some of XAI, but keep X as a startup. If you buy it out then you may loose a lot of talent as it won’t be a start up with high earnings potential.
Its all the same anyway, XAi Is most likely going to benefit Tesla greatly in the future through integration of AI in the user interface of the vehicles. Tesla is going to succeed anyway and will always have great talent. I'm not concerned.
