Al Trautwig w the intro narration, he went on to be a mainstay at the MSG TV network who covers the Knicks & Rangers, as the in between periods & interview guy.
Lord, I remember watching this game on USA. I couldn't believe what I was seeing whn the brawl broke out. Now that Garry Bettman is trying to make hockey a non-contact sport, I miss those days.
I saw this game as a kid. 83-84 season introduced me to hockey. USA did great coverage of the NHL then. Can't stand hockey on TV now. NBC/Versus coverage is awful and plus the shootout is a joke. Hopefully, with the new contract, NBC will use all their networks(including USA) to show the SC playoffs so I can see them.
Those Canadiens / Quebec games were some of the most intense games I ever saw played. They had those political overtones to them and guys on each team like Chris Nylan and Dale Hunter that people just loved to hate. The NHL would be so better if one of those fraudulent Southern US teams like Phoenix or Florida would just pack up and move there.
How come that he could see only 21 banners for SC victories on the rafters? Since then, Habs have won only 2 other Cups and if I'm not mistaken, they have recorded 24 wins overall. Unless they sort of disowned the very first Cup of theirs won in 1916, yet in the pre-NHL era. Which wouldn't be, though, comprehensible nor logical since it's, first of all, still the same franchise and secondly, who would be that stupid and deprive oneself of a certain accolade?
The infamous Good Friday Massacre is this particular game.

Always like USA Network's theme.
Crazy, isn't it? And Marv Albert's brother on the play-by-play. I'm waiting for Rick Bowness to do a cut-rate Coach's Corner.
Hockey on the USA Network...those were the days.

@RealVerdad You got your wish, USA will show some of the 2015 playoffs
Wish the NHL was on USA network hopefully with NBC universal having the NHL rights and owning the USA network they can put some games on the network
Your right. The Habs have won 24 Stanley Cups. The first they won before joining the NHL. The NHL only recognizes the 23 after that.
Omg it's a young Al Trautwig!
I loved the Van Halen comment.
@chris10468 Would be a nice break from the Law and Order, NCIS, and other reruns.

I hated Gary Green...I just didn't like his broadcast style.
