Hi, Gary. I wanted to take this opportunity to THANK YOU so much for this wonderful build. My wife and I are both enormous fans and are now re-watching the entire cycle for a second time. In between our first watch and this re-watch we've checked out many other streams, and sir, NONE even approaches the level of excellence you achieved here. I won't name names, but you pack more into any 30 minutes than, sometimes, HOURS of other videos. Both my wife and I pray for your complete recovery from the misery of your back issues. (I went though 8 months (I'm 62) of relatively minor pain for a pinched nerve mid-back a year and a half ago and my sympathies are with you, my friend. Be well, get strong, STAY strong. We wish you all good things.
Thank you for the kind words. I read your comment to my wife and she said it was very nice. I am still working on our stamp collection, spending many hours doing what needs be done. Can only work on them for a few hours before my legs start giving me fits. Hope to get to another model sometime in the near future. Thanks again
Gary what a pleasure watching you build this kit. From the initial parts washing 😂 to the finish. I’m buying this tomorrow as a Christmas present to myself 🎉. Your RUclips videos will be my guide. I belong to an armor modeling club and the club president has the immense 1/35 soar version and sadly no place to show it.
The company modeled the gun in its firing position which is sitting down on the tracks, and train trolleys. This gave the gun more support from movement while begin fired and transferred kinetic energy into to ground. You separating and lifting the gun off of the trolleys is how it was when it was moved so you were right to move it up to make it look better. I studied the design of this gun in college and we talked about this very factor. All of those valves down the side were used to move the gun up and down from firing position to moving position. That's what my engineering professor stated anyway. Great model I watched all of the videos and really enjoyed them.
Well done, sir! You have done a remarkable job and have nothing to be ashamed of. Your kind friend x Solomon should be mighty proud (as should Gustav Krupp!)
Great build Gary. I've gone all "Catty-Wampass" and ordered the 1/35 scale Soar Art version. Boy, when it arrives I think I'll faint in orgasmic delight.
I can't believe I watch the whooooooooole thing, Wow! Excellent build! I agree with your usage of Tester's clear/dull coat. It's also my go-to lacquer for use when modeling.
cant tell ya how happy that you pointed out the "flaws" in construction that will prevent future builds "heart-ache". your precise counter measures that you applied is worthy of the manufacturer to take heed and make serious corrections in tooling. Bless ya sir!
Thank you for the build. You are not just a great model builder but also an excellent entertainer and informer. You have the rare knack of making your viewers feel part of the journey. Now I have to go sign off and do my research....wood, ship, four foot.....emmm?
Hi Gary. What a great job you did on that model I'm getting that kit tomorrow I heard there's a lot of parts I watched all your videos on that model thanks again
Gary. I've followed this build each week and been excited for each update. Brilliant and wow. That's it !!! I'm with you to the people that can't comment nice !!! Anyway really really hope your head high my friend you deserve all the best for this amazing build. Sol is a good friend and I second your thoughts about him . He is an brill and lovely chap. He isn't as good looking as us two but he's nearly there !!! Ha ha . Hope you and your family are well !!!
When I get a comment from someone new to me I will go to there channel and see if they have any videos. Also I will look at the channels they sub to and check out other modelers I don't know about. I will say this, it would take me about a year to check out everyone you have sub'ed to. So I'll be visiting your channel regularly.
Gary. Wow, that is an honour ! I have watched you for a while and with you having so many subscribers I thought I'll just enjoy your work from afar as you probably wouldn't even get chance of time to respond to me. But I've loved this Dora build and you seem exactly the same as me very passionate in deed about our hobby. Thank-you again Gary it really does mean alot. I'm about to film a very much requested Inbox Review of a kit I purchased yesterday . It's the Tamiya 1/48th Lancaster. I have had alot of people ask for an unboxing so I'm just having a coffee then I'll be doing it. Thanks again Gary and here from England I hope you and your family are well
Thanks Gary. I very much enjoyed this series . I knew that would happen , because your Bluenose build video series was informative and fun to watch . The Dora looks great !!Looking forward to the next build . However it is great to hear that you will take a break.Hope that your pup Molly makes some appearances in the future . Hang in there .
Gary your model turned out GREAT!!! Hope you still put up a new video every Sunday of what your up to even if it's not a model build!!! Thanks for sharing your videos and can wait to watch your next build!!! Outstanding job!!!
Once again you have done an amazing job, she looks awesome!!! I don't have a big interest in ground war stuff but I didn't miss a minute of the entire series!! You definitely have a talent for all of this, not only building AMAZING models but presenting them in a way that resonates and connects with a lot of people from the beginner to the expert modeler. You should be proud of what you do. I am proud to have found you and I have learned so much because of your talent. Between you and Salomon doing what you do I would never have been able to have the ability to get into this and have success. Enjoy your break with your honey do list. I hope you check in with us from time to time and lets us know you are alive LOL. I look forward to you next build. Thank you sharing your talent.
Thanks for the comment...Truth is, you are the one that made it work. I'm glad you had fun, and was able to satisfy your modeling spirits. I hope your next one is as much fun.. BTW Happy wife , happy life...Regard, Solomon
Gary, I have followed this build from the beginning, and have really enjoyed watching it. Enjoy you well earned break from entertaining us. Looking forward to you next project.
Hi Gary sorry I didn't get to see your last video till Monday night 20.35 uk time. I'm sad I've been looking forward to your video each & every Sunday. I have to say that OMG !!! It is looking amazing my friend well done all that hard work has paid off. You are the reason I got myself back into model making & your tips & tricks videos are the best & I've taken a lot of them on board...oh & lets not forget that we share taste in airbrushes 😔 hope you come back very soon with another video. Oh well tack care & happy modelling. Carm all the way from sunny England lol
Impressive model, I love how this turned out. Your attention to detail is what really made this kit come together. I really enjoyed this series of videos.
Bravo, Gary! Great job. I can't believe I've been watching this series since April. Once again, thank you so much for taking the time to film, edit and post this build for us. I know it's time consuming as hell, and I really appreciate it, as I'm sure many others do too. Enjoy your well deserved break from modelling. Looking forward to your next series of builds. Regards, Wix
Gary, watched ALL the episodes, and enjoyed every one of them. I learned a lot, and I see that you learned some new things (airbrush). Great model, outstanding work.
Hello from Belgium, just went through the all série and can wait to start the build of mine. You gave tons of good advises and very useful tips. I know you did this some long time ago but still I really enjoyed it . Thank you very much. Miguel.
Hi Gary - Just wanted to wosh you and yours a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and other good wishes! Hope all is well! Thanks for ALL the great videos and the wealth of information that they have given!
Great model, Gary! You clearly put a lot of work into your videos for the rest of us to enjoy, so thanks for a great series. My Monday mornings (Australian time) just won't be the same for a while. The next to be a wooden model, 4ft long, needs modification? Hmmm. Can't wait for whatever it is.
Glad that the model came out so good. One point that I would like to make though is that while the Vallejo paints are very good, their primer is not. I have seen several builds on You Tube where the Vallejo primer pealed off after the modeler had used masking tape for their color coats. You may want to reconsider using Vallejo primer in the future. Again, the model looks great!
Gary, thanks for you video's. It is a great build. I have learned a lot of it. Take some time for your family. This is very important. Greetings from Holland.
It's a beautiful model, Gary, your weathering is spot on. Awesome detail. I think if you stood a shell by a doorway you would see it is close to seven scale feet. It is just such a massive gun it is hard to contemplate the thing in real scale. Awesome, man, just friggin' awesome. Only word that comes to mind. Thank you for bringing us along.
Hi Gary, Wishing you & all your family a very Merry Christmas and a Good New Year. Hope your new project is cumming along. Bit of a slow down on my P.T. 109 work due to eye problems, hopefully going to be sorted in the new year. Regards. Tom Kennedy U.K.
Tip: Cheaper than anything else you could buy for cleaning your airbrush: Denatured alcohol by the gallon in any paint store, Home Depot, Lowes... really good for cleaning acrylic paint. I keep a cup of it or mix it 1/2 water to soak the needle and tips just to soften things up. Wipe it down and go.
Hi Gary, although the DORA isn't my thing due to the very bad memories to world war two and the effects on my family i have to congratulate you with this result. She is a real piece of ART you did a great job. I am curious about the next project and wish you and you family all the best. Regards Piet.
An incredible piece of work Gary. The episodes r a perfect how-to guide for building it. My question is probably the same one u had, where am I gonna put this beast?
Great work Gary! Enjoyed every episode and picked-up many tips. Do you have any plans for another build in the near future? If so, could you share what your that plan is? Again, congratulations on a great build,
Gary, I too watched ALL the episodes. I watched a lot on my PS4 so I couldn't comment. :( AWESOME!!!!!!! Now time for a vacation. :D I'll be waiting for the next adventure. That's one BIG gun. Love the color. Great job!!!
A really lovely job, havnt watched every video in this series (i have watched many) and i really enjoyed your dedication and tenacity. Thank you for these great videos Gary. Take care and i look forward to your next mammoth project (after a rest of course) :)
Another awesome build series Gary!!! Now hurry and make a new video I'm jones'n ova here!!! P.S. you should have monetized your channel a long time ago. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us next......
Hi Gary I hope you had a great Thanksgiving I was going to ask you what's the Elmer's Glue ratio with water 50-50 cuz I'm going to use it for my ballast
Hi Gary. This had Been a great set of videos. Very professionally done and I have looked forward to the next one each week. Planning on starting mine before Christmas and I'll be using these for some reference. Just one point though Gary. I was thinking about the two silver rings around the barrel. Thoughts. ...
I don't think the paint was ripped off, it just was not painted there, most likely lubricated with oil to keep it from rusting and recoiling smothly. It does look like there were two sections of the barrel that recoiled. Just like a hydraulic cylinder, part of it is bare medal with a slite film of oil. If it were painted there it would damage the seal during recoil. Thats my opinio and I sticking to it.
Viking longship? :-P Hey Gary, don't feel bad about it, go ahead and monetize. I hope you make something out of this, you put a lot of effort into filming and keeping this channel up. It is appreciated. Do what you got to do man.
Hi Gary was interested to here your hint's on your next project. But this is to let you know have just sent for the John Drain 1/20th scale P.T. boat hull kit. Will let you know what arrives if you are interested? Regards. Tom Kennedy UK
glad to see your still live an kicking you have not been posting, was afraid you might have come down with a chill im starting my next model a nice 1/250 japanese aircraft carrier cant go out an play i'm going to take your advice an try and make a video log of me building the aircraft carrier
Great job ! Looks really good finished, I see what you mean about the "green" it stands out a bit. I know I would have gone with "Mr Color" lacquers, these are the only paints I use, for the last 12 years and they are fantastic, super strong plus I would have done pre-shading with primer. Looking forward to your next build. I've also gone back to work on my HMS Endeavour, have a look, www.modelshipbuilder.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?1017
it has been a few mouths that we herd from you I understand that you just did a huge build. just that I come to know you as a friend lol I know but it is true an hope all is well with you an your family. can't Waite Untill you decide to build again you are such a teacher an a perfectionist that you are only a few that I will watch. God bless you an your family
Never got a comment on them befor, so I though no one cared if I did them or not. Plus it would have put the video well over and hour long. But if you realy want one I'll do it just for you. I know how you Brits are about tradition.
Hah, not to worry. Just watched your Arizona build series again and it came in to my mind as I watched the final one in that series. I think anyone who watches an entire series would get a pretty good idea as to how you felt about the various aspects anyway.
Hey Gary, I am building a website that is going to be dedicated to how to's, product reviews and a locator system for finding the best deals on everything related to modeling. I was wondering if you have a problem if I showcase your videos on the site in categories related to the topics? I will make sure to give you plenty of credit with links back to your channel and ensure you are properly cited if I do a how to article again with links back to your videos and to specific points in a video where applicable. I know you are a lot like me and know how hard it is for modelers, especially those new to it or interested in getting into the hobby to find the right product or to know the best way to do something and are all about offering advice and pointers. So if you want to take part in this project I would be more than happy to hook up with you and see where it goes.
Sounds like a plan to me. I like the credit and links back to my channel part. Already had one guy use some of my stuff on his channel like it was his and that didn't go well. Feel free to use what you want in exchange for credit due. Let me know when you get it up running.
Thank Gary, yea as a web developer I see this all the time with people claiming other peoples work and it is such a low thing to do. So yea thanks a bunch for letting me do this. I am guessing a few months at best since this is a fun thing I am doing and have to work on it when I dont have client projects pressing but for sure will shoot you a link when it is all up and running..
You spend hours complaining about how to paint things and then you paint the model the wrong color. German field grey was a uniform color, they didn't use it on vehicles.

I do have something in mind but need about $300 to get it. I never tell what my next model is because I'm not even sure what I'm going to do.
Gary, I too watched ALL the episodes. I watched a lot on my PS4 so I couldn't comment. :( AWESOME!!!!!!! Now time for a vacation. :D I'll be waiting for the next adventure. That's one BIG gun. Love the color. Great job!!!
Happy Christmas Gary.Hope all is well and can't wait to hopefully see you on RUclips in2018.kind regards Richard
A really lovely job, havnt watched every video in this series (i have watched many) and i really enjoyed your dedication and tenacity. Thank you for these great videos Gary. Take care and i look forward to your next mammoth project (after a rest of course) :)
what a terrific model - just superlative !!
Another awesome build series Gary!!! Now hurry and make a new video I'm jones'n ova here!!! P.S. you should have monetized your channel a long time ago. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us next......
THIS MAN IS DEDICATED.
You might want to consider using windshield wiper fluid to clean your airbrush. It is a much more economical than other cleaners and does the job
You did an awesome job on this one, very good! Its your model, be proud!
Gary did you have 2 parts E15 missing
I love it, a spectacular model, I will follow you to see your next videos. Regards my friend
Hi Gary I hope you had a great Thanksgiving I was going to ask you what's the Elmer's Glue ratio with water 50-50 cuz I'm going to use it for my ballast
I don't remember what ratio I used, maybe it's in one of my videos. You just have experiment off model.
Hi Gary. This had Been a great set of videos. Very professionally done and I have looked forward to the next one each week. Planning on starting mine before Christmas and I'll be using these for some reference.
Just one point though Gary. I was thinking about the two silver rings around the barrel. Do you think this may of been where the paint got ripped off during recoil of the gun? Was there possibly two parts of the barrel set up to recoil? Or maybe it was just decoration, I don't know. Thoughts.
Yep agreed. Basically just confirming with you that it was in fact recoil sections of the barrel. Great build Gary. Take care and enjoy your break. 😊😊
Have not seen you on utube for four months hope you are in good health.
Viking longship? :-P Hey Gary, don't feel bad about it, go ahead and monetize. I hope you make something out of this, you put a lot of effort into filming and keeping this channel up. It is appreciated. Do what you got to do man.

God bless you an your family
Thanks, may be a few more months for my next build, got to get through the holidays and other things first.
What happened to the 1 - 5 ratings? Lol.
During the seige of Sebastopol that bastard destroyed a Soviet fortress 20 miles away under a roof of concrete 16 feet thick!😳😮
Hi Gary have my new PT boat kit & have assembled hull got pic's , e-mail if interested Tom uk
You spend hours complaining about how to paint things and then you paint the model the wrong color. German field grey was a uniform color, they didn't use it on vehicles.
