Jaquie is honestly so pretty! In all her videos, even when you can tell she is in pain she still manages to push through and stay strong! Her and Harlow are perfect together
Great tips! I do want to mention that people with disabilities are allowed an additional carry on for meds. ALL meds should be carried on the plane and never checked. So you are allowed to have them in a separate carry on if need be. Last year we went to Orlando for a week so I needed to pack my nebulizer, and I always pack a month of meds, just in case of emergencies, etc. So I had a personal carry on, and then my medical bag. It's nice to have that additional room if you need it.
Kelley Hornberger Thank you! I didn't know that! I know you posted this a while back so I don't know if you'll answer but, I have multiple "invisible" illnesses that have caused me to be disabled but I'm not in a wheelchair or anything like that. What do I need as proof that I'm disabled to go through the disabled line??
We love you guys!! I'm so glad you're making RUclips videos, we learn so much from you guys! I'm Voodoo's handler and I've flown with her once and it was a really great experience!
Chronically Jaquie I have an important question to ask. I have recently been diagnosed with diabetes type one and my mom is considering getting me a service dog. What brand would you recommend?
Try the web site Blackdogsrule.com. They have 2 service dogs for their son, who has type 1. They also have a Facebook page.facebook.com/GuardianAngelforQuinton/?fref=ts They give a lot of info on training and maintaining a diabetic Alert Dog. You can contact them and they will give you advice
Love all the tips. Geist is my first service dog and it's been a learning process. We haven't had to do flights but he has been a dream to train and gave him to alert me. It makes you feel so much better they are there and save us so much.
Just wanted to add that you don't ever have to take your hands off your dog at any time throughout the screening process if you don't feel comfortable doing so. You can walk through the metal detector together, and you can also offer one hand at a time for the explosive residue swab.
Yes, but it is easier send them through first, Usually TSA removes all of their dogs from the area if there is a a service dog. So sad now Harlow enjoying life as a puppy.
You were a GREAT ambassador for the community. It is a tragic loss to our community that you can not help put a kind and educated face to counter balance some of the other 'handlers' on this platform. May you have an amazing rest and enjoy your next adventure. We miss you deeply.
This was such a helpful video. I will be flying with my psychiatric service dog for the first time in December and I was so nervous about tsa since I didn’t know what to expect.
VERY helpful, thank you. Our family is getting a puppy--in-training soon, we have to fly to SLC to pick him up. Your thorough briefing discusses everything we need to know. Flying on Southwest, too, so the bulkhead seating segment was good. Love that waist-clipped treats pouch. Thanks again.
Your videos just make me cry. I'm a future dog trainer/behaviourist and hopefully one day also an assistance dogs' trainer. It really touches me when I see how amazing and smart the dogs can be. That is why I love them and that is why I want to work with them! Btw, God bless America! Greetings and kisses from Poland.
SO MUCH GREAT INFO! I'm really glad you mentioned the meds, I always use an organizer, too, and I can totally imagine myself forgetting about that! Not planning on flying anytime soon, but this is so wonderful how you broke down all of what happened, I've always been fearful about how that all works, etc, and admittedly, my pup and I have plenty of work to do before we are ready for public access type stuff even, but it's so great to see what all the steps are like, since most things I'm anxious about are just because I have no idea what to expect! Thank you so so so much!
I am Autistic and have a dog that helps me with things but I only take him out to work in dog friendly places because I never know how to tell people about my Autism because it is invisible. I also have Social Anxiety so I really want to start working my dog other places but don't want the looks and comments.
As far as I know, you are not required to answer those questions. A business can only ask if your dog is a service dog and what task does he perform. Then again, its a free country and it will not stop people from inquiring. I really don't have a problem with the questions, but I don't like people wanting to constantly touch my service dog all the time. Had a guy literally go straight into his face once and my dog even has a "do not pet" patch on.
I have ptsd and carry ada cards with me to give out if people are asking to much. I completely understand. I also inform people politely why it is rude to ask so many questions about the need for the service dog.
am i the only bbothered when they were recreating the scene through security, there was a perfect something that looked like a metal detector behind then haha. great vid! service dogs are amazing!
As a fellow service dog handler myself, I would like to thank you for all the helpful tips and tricks. Thank you. I look forward to more videos soon. BTW I have a female yellow lab named Champagne
Jaquie Blake I'm trying to train my dog how to heel with me, how to tuck and how to guard... can you help and make a video explaining how you do it...bear is a SDIT so it's important thank you
My intrathecal pump always sets off metal detectors and when they pat me down they can feel it and always ask what it is then they take me to a secluded area to lift up my shirt which sucks. They have also made me feel terrible and almost give me an anxiety attack bc they ask why I have so many pill bottles and stuff. It's hard to travel for me and anytime I enter a federal building that has a metal detector I set it off and have to lift up my shirt to explain the bulge under my skin. I'm so glad that you have Harlow she's a good dog!
unfortunately if it sets off the detector, they're just trying to keep people safe and doing their job. I'm sorry it gives you such anxiety problems though.
I tried to find you on instagram , but couldnt however i do thank you for posting this as i and my fiance and flying with our sd's for the first time next month this helped a little bit !!

Jane Budde Watch her video all about harlow, and if you don't wanna watch the entire thing there is a list in description, and certain things she's talking about to skip to that time.
Omg I always call dogs doges! lol finally someone who gets me. Also, of course it's not as bad as you, but I have Crohn's disease which is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) located in the small intestine and colon. I get a shot in the leg every Monday. You inspire me to keep going and to enjoy what good I have in my life. Thank you you are amazing! (Btw I'm 12) ❤️
I just saw your video and I can see with my anxiety dying thru a 2 hour flight to sprint for the bathroom as soon as we land. I cant even imagine trying to fit in an airplane potty with a full grown lab.
Per month of her age is approximately how long a dog can actually hold their bladder so you would be OK probably seeing as she can probably survive nine hours
I travel with the Ruffwear Mt. Bachelor Pad (medium size). It rolls up tightly in a small roll. I clip it with a D ring to my carry on backpack. It's a great way to make my SD more comfortable and give that visual and tactile reminder to my SD of where her space is and not to leave it. I leave her on the bed when I go to the bathroom on the plane and don't worry b/c of the strong reminder of where she is supposed to be. www.ruffwear.com/Mt-Bachelor-Pad-Dog-Bed?sc=2&category=17 It doesn't take up any of my carry on space b/c of clipping it on the outside of my backpack. It's great for us.
Hi! I also have a SD and I have like... a lot of equipment and I just saw your cooling coat and I wanted to ask you where did you get it, since all of the cooling coats I have seen are blue (buu) and they don't have anything for us girls who like to put a lil chic on our SD I was wondering where can I find one of those in Pink. Thank you so much! please keep making these amazing videos! They have done wonders with Emma (my SD)
I'm disabled and booked and notified air Canada of my situation. They put me right across from the restroom. Window seat (which literally had no window, just a wall) most claustrophobic plane ride ever. I asked for bulk head because of my mobility issues and was told they would keep charge me an additional $50. Does ADA rules apply to an Airline which belongs to another country but the flight originates in the US? I would assume that ADA laws do not apply. Your thoughts?
Hi Jaquie:-) So happy to have found your videos a while ago! can really relate to your multiple chronic illnesses. I have a few myself...and yes, they are mostly invisible, LOL. So most people will say to me, " But you don't look sick!" etc. I will be getting my Service Dog in a month from now and can`t wait to meet her soon. Her name is "Lexi". I was wondering where you purchased all of your Service dog` s gear, please...LOVE THE PINK !! :-) Thank you for sharing your life with us, you are an incredible woman ; courageous, positive attitude, good sense of humour and beautiful, inside and outside. C.S.
Hi Jaquie! I have a quick question for you. I have a mobility support dog and I cannot walk independently without him. He is a large breed (5 year old Golden Retriever). Can they allow us to get a pat down instead of going through the detectors since I cannot move independently without him? Thanks
My advise would be to tell the airport before your flight (when getting tickets, when checking in) that you can't walk through the medall detector on your own. Either they will take your offer to get padded down or they will offer to get you through with a wheelchair for the security process.
Legally they cant ask you to separate from your service dog or take the dogs leash or harnesses off. Id suggest looking into airport gear that wont set off metal detectors but they will pat down you two if you set off the detectors.
This video is awesome, thanks for going through the process of flying with a service dog. How long was Harlow's first flight? I'm wanting to take my ESA on her first flight (about 5 hours long) and wondering if that is too far.
Hi Jaquie, I am looking into an allergen detection service dog for all of my anaphylaxis allergies. I am currently reading all of the ADA and ACAA laws etc. The program I am going through is an 18 month program, therefore the dog would still be a "service dog in training" for quite some time. However I must travel by plane a lot and watched this video just recently. Had Harlow already passed her Public Access Test and was officially out of the "in training" phase or did you fly with her before her PAT and you were still able to fly with her even though she was still a "service dog in training"? I am currently working out whether or not I would be allowed to fly with a dog in training but enrolled in a professional program with me, before able to take the Public Access Test.
I know this video is from a long time ago, and I tried looking this up but was unable to find the answer: in there any extra (free) carry-on allowance for a service dog, or is it free only when it is checked?
SnowySpiritRuby I believe so... My SD has saddlebag packs on her harness and they checked them but didn't count them as carry ons, I had two carry-ons already, a backpack and a purse but they airline didn't count anything on Sugar as a carry on. I would check with your airline to be sure
This is the first I've heard of needing a doctor's note for a psychatric service dog for a plane , can someone link the law/rule for that? I never found it anything like that when I flew with my ESA, I now have a SD and plan on flying next year for a trip.
Aubrey Morgan - its on page 2 of this Matrix... under the column for DOT/ACAA: www.transportation.gov/sites/dot.gov/files/docs/P3.SA_.HUD%20Matrix.6-28-6.pdf
When I booked my flight, I was told I had to book an extra seat for Ninja who weighs 120 lbs. We got window and middle seats on all 4 legs of our travel. Ninja may NOT sit in the seat! This is United, and I hope they don't take our extra seat away and boot us off the flight.
So helpful! They didn't ask you for a doctor's note or anything right? My service dog and I are flying in June and I'm most anxious about her holding a downstay for 5.5 hours on the plane. We will have to find some busses to practice!
+Avery Brown Nope, no one asked for a doctors note. No one questioned Harlow at all, in fact. As long as your dog is behaving, you should not have any problems! I would definitely find some buses to practice on, and I would also try to practice a 5.5 hour down stay at least once before the flight. Though, I am sure you will be surprised with how well your dog will do!
Great info! I do have a question? Do all airports have areas for dogs to go to the potty? Possibly flying from San Francisco California to Tampa Florida. This will be our first flight. Thank you!
Thank you!. Your not to late. My Labrador and I will be flying from San Francisco to Tampa FL in March. This will be his first flight. I really appreciate you answering my question.
dc5trust on the plane there isn't a place for the dog to go to the bathroom. There is however areas in airports that dogs can go to the bathroom. So they will have to go in between flights
Me and one of my sisters both should have service dogs, by we don't because we already have 3 dogs-one is too old, one is untrainable, and one is just too hyper!
Last time I was travelling I was with my ESA and they told me to put him in my lap. Now I have a Golden mix Medical Alert Service Dog the size of a small lab. Will they allow me to have her in my lap or only on the floor?
Jensen Hammack I called Southwest and they said the service dogs can either be on the floor or in your lap. In my case, my dog is about 16 lbs, so holding her on my lap makes sense.
Jennifer Turner It's definitely not required but highly recommended if you live in a hot climate and your dog is going to be on concrete for an extended period of time. A good way to check if your dog needs boots is by placing the back of your hand on concrete that's been in the hot sun. If you're not able to keep your hand there for more than a few seconds comfortably then your dog needs boots. If your dog is only going to be out on grassy areas then he/she is perfectly fine without boots. Hope that helps! ☺
Jennifer Turner if you can't comfortably put your hand on the ground, you shouldn't expect your dog to have their feet on the pavement for long periods of time. :)
miranda h - not sure but the medical alert should classify your dog as a "regular" service dog and therefore no note required BUT PLEASE CALL THE ACAA IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS... A note probably wouldn't hurt just in case but also you may want to go with what a disability lawyer tells you.
WAIT WAIT WAIT! I wouldn't need a letter for a Diabetic alert dog?! I don't have to persuade my doctor and their logic about medical fixes not animal tools?! Can someone pleas give me a citation or somewhere I can see this and show my parents?!
X X A psychiatric service dog would be one that works with a handler that has PTSD. The dog is trained to recognize when his/her handler is entering into a heightened state, is restless while sleeping, is having nightmares, or is in a highly agitated/aggressive state of mind. Dogs are able to recognize the subtle changes in our demeanors, or when our sweat changes or even a slight tone in our voices change. Anyway, they recognize this change and then take progressive steps to intervene. If my tone changes, she will drop what ever she is doing and come over to me to check on me. If I’m not paying attention, she’ll start by licking my hands. Then she will lick my hands and lean up against me, then she will whine to get my attention. Then, she will jump in my lap so I can’t ignore her. If I keep just trying to push her off and tell her to go lay down, she will ignore those commands until I return to my normal calm demeanor. As far as nightmares go, she will lay on my chest and apply pressure to me until I wake up. She won’t allow me to get up and wander/sleep walk anywhere like I used to. As far as laws, she is protected under the same laws as the others... ADA of 1973, and the air carriers access act. Emotional support animals are different and regulated by different laws. 😁 I hope that helps answer your questions. Please feel free to ask if you have any more!
This was the first video i watched when i got into jaquie... I will forever miss you..
Jaquie is honestly so pretty! In all her videos, even when you can tell she is in pain she still manages to push through and stay strong! Her and Harlow are perfect together

I miss you Jacquie but you are continuing to live on in your vlogs.
We love you guys!! I'm so glad you're making RUclips videos, we learn so much from you guys! I'm Voodoo's handler and I've flown with her once and it was a really great experience!
+Kimberley Montierth I'm so happy you're digging the videos! I've also had mostly positive flying experiences, especially with Southwest.

Chronically Jaquie Awww you're so lucky to have Harlow in your life this video just made me smile and when you see your baby girl tell her I said hi.
Harlow did amazing for her first flight! You have done very well with your access training and Har was very well behaved!
Love all the tips. Geist is my first service dog and it's been a learning process. We haven't had to do flights but he has been a dream to train and gave him to alert me. It makes you feel so much better they are there and save us so much.

Great job Harlow you made it to Texas I'm so proud of you what a good girl you are and Jackie thanks for the video I love it 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😃😃😃👍👍👍👍👍👍
This was such a helpful video.

She's so fluffy😍💜
Thank you for the excellent video.
She passed away ...
i have to get a service dog because i have ptsd and her name is babe and your videos are so helpful!!!
You guys GREAT! She looked so unimpressed on the filming though aha! Good job to both of you
I have went to that airport and that airline but it was in Feburary 25,2017
OMG! You look like my best friend's twin! Great Vlog! Subbed!
you are so so cool I watch a lot of your vids you are so cool and strong

Thank you , did find it quite a while ago now, so watched it and got some info.
Thanks. :-)
Great video.

Hi! quick question!? what airline did you use?
Love you ya'lls shirts!! She did so well on the flight, both of them did. I had no idea their ears didn't pop. Do you live in Texas?
Hello!
Wear did you get your cooling vest for your service dog?
krystal gusman watch Harlows gear video :)
Where did you get that treat bag? I love how easy it is to attach and remove. :)
This video is awesome, thanks for going through the process of flying with a service dog. How long was Harlow's first flight? I'm wanting to take my ESA on her first flight (about 5 hours long) and wondering if that is too far.

Aubrey Morgan - its on page 2 of this Matrix... under the column for DOT/ACAA:
www.transportation.gov/sites/dot.gov/files/docs/P3.SA_.HUD%20Matrix.6-28-6.pdf
Thank you!
Aubrey Morgan - You're welcome!
How do you deal with longer flights and bathroom for your SD? That's what is making me the most nervous.
When I booked my flight, I was told I had to book an extra seat for Ninja who weighs 120 lbs. We got window and middle seats on all 4 legs of our travel. Ninja may NOT sit in the seat! This is United, and I hope they don't take our extra seat away and boot us off the flight.
Wow you look really pretty today
Can u teach me more about making all natural foods&treats for my service dog?
I love you guys ! (:
I have an ESA. When flying with him will he need to know the sit stay recall like Harlow?
I have a ? If your in a wheelchair where do you put your chair my mom has one
she did fly with southwest airlines
Psychiatric service dogs must have a doctor's letter, they are treated like emotional support animals.
How do I train my pup to let someone pat her down? She gets over excited and wiggles, and licks people and sometimes jumps.
James Hall
She passed away.
Great info! I do have a question? Do all airports have areas for dogs to go to the potty? Possibly flying from San Francisco California to Tampa Florida. This will be our first flight. Thank you!
Kathy Barkasy hopefully I'm not too late, but I believe they all do yes! Sometimes just kinda hard to find but they should be there!
Thank you!. Your not to late. My Labrador and I will be flying from San Francisco to Tampa FL in March. This will be his first flight. I really appreciate you answering my question.
Fun! Well good luck to you!
How were you able to train her so greatly
😍.
Just finding your channel in 2021...who was that dog beside Harlow on the plane? Anyone you know or just a random other service dog?
She can't answer you. Jaquie passed.
when you have a service dog are they loud setting beside you on the airplane
No they have to be on the floor or on your lap if a medical alert dog.
If Harlow does need to use the bathroom, how does she?
Ege Akdora the have an area in the airport where the dogs can go to the bathroom
+Kylor Strong yeah I know that but I meant like on the plane😂
Ege Akdora they really dont dogs can go for like 12-15 hours without peeing or pooping and always owners use the dog stops at the airport.
What happens if the service dog wants to use the restroom on the plane? where could it go? (im curious)
dc5trust on the plane there isn't a place for the dog to go to the bathroom. There is however areas in airports that dogs can go to the bathroom. So they will have to go in between flights
what if your service dog is a medical, mobile, and psychiatric service dog.. ik im messed up
Me and one of my sisters both should have service dogs, by we don't because we already have 3 dogs-one is too old, one is untrainable, and one is just too hyper!
Omg I live in Texas
Quick question, are dog boots required? I am training a seven month old GSD and I never thought of getting him dog boots before.
Jennifer Turner if your area is very hot or very cold it's a good idea
They make dog coolers? Which brand?
And I'm a narcoleptic too!
Can you help me train my service dog !!!!!!
Question what if your dog is a PSD and a medical alert service dog
Karen Jacobsen I will
miranda h - not sure but the medical alert should classify your dog as a "regular" service dog and therefore no note required BUT PLEASE CALL THE ACAA IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS... A note probably wouldn't hurt just in case but also you may want to go with what a disability lawyer tells you.
Eu ainda não acredito que ela se foi 😢
WAIT WAIT WAIT! I wouldn't need a letter for a Diabetic alert dog?! I don't have to persuade my doctor and their logic about medical fixes not animal tools?! Can someone pleas give me a citation or somewhere I can see this and show my parents?!
I live in texas
One question, do you have to pay extra for flying with your service dog?
no, unless you need bulkhead seating, which costs more
What? A psychiatric service dog? I never heard of that. How does that work? Rather how does the dog work? And laws?

You are such a sweet girl! I adore your videos
