- Hey guys so I had to make a tutorial for these easy high- waisted ruffle shorts. Super easy to pair with a cute tank , v neck, jean jacket...so many options.
I used:
Lion Brand ZZ Twist in the color Silver
Measuring Tape
Stitch markers ( you can use and contrasting piece of scrap yarn)
Scissors.

hi (: when you start the next row after chaining you two for “the very first stitch” do you dc in the chain or the next dc stitch to keep the seam straight? and when you single crochet the waistband together do you go under both stitches? this will be the second piece i’ve made from your videos. thank you so much for sharing your talent
Hey! I double crochet in the top chain of the chain two, and when it come to the waist band I go under both stitches when seaming them together!

Around 4:45 do you connect the last single crochet to the first one? Or do you just double crochet on top of it? Love your tutorials!

Hey so I’m a little confused about the measuring part? So my waist is 32 but my hips are 41 so am i supposed to make the band 32 or 36 because you said do the one in the middle? And 36 is between 32 and 41
Yup that’s right measure to 36.
When you join each round, are you SL ST’g at the top of the CH2 every time and then starting a new row by Chaining 2 and then inserting into that same stitch with a DC to keep the seam straight?
Yes I slip st into the ch 2 but I go into the 1st st not the same at to keep the seam straight

For the crotch area, how does it stay 18 stitches, I thought with the 2 dc in every stitch it would be like an increase
Heyy! When you measure your band, do you stretch it out to the measurement, or do you just crochet up to the measurement without stretching it out?

Hey! You may be adding a stitch try turning your work after each round, also I would suggest a blend of cotton and acrylic when it come to shorts.
Can you show how you does the ending/begining of each round ?

Hey it’s best to try on, if it fits around the hips after doing the increase rows then just crochet regular if it’s still to tight just increase again

I want to make these same shorts, but with a sinched ruffled waist band as well, and i cant find a video 🤧.
Can you give an example on how you picked your measurements. You said measure hips then waist then picked the middle number . The middle number on them two measurements ?
Yes for example if my waist is 27 and hips 38 , my middle number is about 33. So you Subtract both ( hip -waist) measurements then divide by 2.... add that divided number to your waist measurement . Then Boom you have the middle number..

Hey girl! I’m just a little confused on how long the brim should be. My waist is 39 and hips is 43. I crocheted til 41inches unstretched, is that right?

Do we use our recommended crochet needle size for our yarn or 3.5mm and also around 3:50 when you do 2 sc in every dc I’m having trouble. For some reason my rows are starting to look as if I’m decreasing. Is this due of my mistake or will i need to block the shorts after.
Hey! It shouldn’t look as if your decreasing. What kind of yarn and hook you are using?
LaDria LaVae I’m using red heart yarn in size medium 4 and a 4.5 mm hook but the recommended is 5.5 mm
With the size of the crochet needle, does it have to be a size 3.5 as u have on the video?

Ok so I love ur videos can’t wait for me but how come my piece is looking small. I measured everything right lol but I’m hippy and mines look super small. What could I have done wrong?
hey, it could be your tension.
@@LaDriaLaVae idk because I measured it right and my tension is usually the same pretty consistent. It just looked small but maybe I should’ve kept going and once I started increasing it would have gotten wider. 🤔. Ur videos are good and my stuff always come out right. Maybe I did the number wrong when I subtracted my hips from waist an ch that amount. Ima try again.
when you started doing the increase row it doesn’t look like you skipped six stitches. can you explain what i’m supposed to do in that part again please?
Hey you don’t skip 6 you place a stitch in the next 6 stitches and increase in the 7th

I couldn't help but think it would have been so much easier to put the drawstring in with a yarn needle. So much quicker and less fiddly.

When you finish the one side down to the ruffle you do the exact same thing on the other side, attaching your yarn right before the chain in the crotch area, work along the chain and repeat the same steps
