"Gosh, he's got a good voice" me, whenever Harry opens his mouth.
Same
Same girl
Every👏 time 👏
Same😌
He could be caughing and I would still be like: "gosh, he's got a good voice"
I love Sam's sarcasm : "Great camera work" lol
It wasn't sarcasm for me
@@alffonssina it obviously was. She was singing, be the camera wasn't showing her.
I was sad cuz I also love Kayci, her voice is so great just totally different from his
Ahaha, yeees
React to him singing "Girl Crush" live!! AWESOME!!
OMG yes please
Yasss please!!
Yessss
Yaaas
yes
react to girl crush or medicine... or Harry styles staring at a camera doing nothing. Basically just react to harry styles
Jenni Boo LMAO I LOVE THIS
😂😂😂
whenever im talking to my brother or gf about singing im always saying "yeah my vocal coach Sam Johnson told me..." lmao I crack myself up sometimes.
You should react to Harry's Styles vocals in general
Y E S 👏🏼👏🏼
MORE HARRY...MORE HARRY....MORE HARRY!!! :) :) :)
He should react to him singing “girl crush”
I was never really into one direction (I think I missed their window there by a few years haha), but I absolutely loved his solo album! It surprised me how skilled he is as a singer, and the songs are just damn good. He really does have such a great voice! Awesome video, as always!
Same! :) I hardly knew anything about One Direction (when they became big I was too old to be the typical boy band audience), but I stumbled across his solo music and fell in love with his amazing voice and great songs!
I’ve always been a big 1D fan and honestly, Harry’s solo album was by far the best solo album of the 5 of them. He’s SO talented!
Livia Marques
And he’s not hard to look at either.
Same
Ade S that’s hard to judge since only Harry, Niall and Zayn have albums out so far.
we need more harry reactions 🖤
Loved the video! With Harry, he has always been very expressive when singing and emotive, his facial expressions always really portray that and I think people mistake that for him straining on notes when he can do it easily, he’s just pouring his heart into it!
voice teacher falls in love with harry styles for 15 minutes straight
"Gosh, he's got a good voice" was probably my literal reaction when I first heard Harry, and I'm still in the same place. Also, I've waited for you to analyze his voice since the day I discoverd your channel, I can say I'm pretty satisfied and I can also say that you're awesome as always.
Sam: Just close your eyes and imagine what its like to be harry styles
me: Closing my eyes imagining what its like to be WITH harry styles 🤤
All I ask is... Would you be willing to analyze Florence Welch's vocals? ❤️
YEAH i've been waiting for a Flo reaction I just hope he doesn't react to that best vocals video bc those are not her best vocals lmao
Yes please
I have learned so, so much from you. Singing is just a hobby of mine, but my voice is something I'm very proud of. You've helped me tackle a lot of problems I knew were there, but didn't know how to fix. Thank you so much! I can only imagine how helpful you are to real students!
Sarah Bacak I have lessons with Sam and can confirm how amazing he is! I’ve made so much progress in such a short time and after years of singing and not being able to get any better
"God he's got a good voice" couldn't agree more
I feel like Sam is the type of person you cannot hate even if you try
Sam is such a lovable soul. Love his videos.
I adore Kacey Musgraves - just saw her live in Phoenix last month! And I personally thought she was amazing live! Thanks for doing this video Sam!
I actually was surprised how pitchy she is in this performance. She normally sounds so controlled.
I saw her live in Portland on the first leg of her North America tour this spring and oh my gosh! Her voice is crystalline I love listening to her. Her CD is constantly playing in my home❤️
you need to react to harry’s girl crush cover at the BBC or the video “13 times harry styles voice had me shook”! he has an amazing voice and those videos showcase some of his best vocals
I am a simple woman. I see Harry Styles, the love of my life, I click.
Loved seeing your inner love for Harry! That made me smile! Love when you analyze my favorites! Wish you'd do Tori Kelly or Jessie J! Either you do or not, I'll still watch! Always so informative and entertaining! Thank you! All the best. Xx
Carolina Soares He’s done a Tori Kelly react video. It was really good!
@@Chiqocasidi I know, wish he'd do more though! Can't get enough! 😄
“Just close your eyes for 5 seconds and imagine what it’s like to be Harry Styles.” Sam, your voice is just as good if not better than most of this people you review!!! And, you are not too hard on the eyes either ❤️
Omg! I actually got a notification! Lol. Even tho I can’t carry a tune to save my life, I still love watching you! You’re amazing!!😊😊
Let's make a club. "We are those who can't carry a tune but would love to someday" and love watching Sam =D
Stephanie Manrique count me in!
@@josephcane6198 We are 3 so far, we should get 10 for the elections 🤭🤭🇵🇪
Me too!!
Yesss!!! Count me in to!!
I literally just got done listening to that cover and you uploaded this 😂❤️
I love Kacey Musgraves! I saw her live two days ago in St.Augustine. She’s so special. Her voice.
I LOVE how much you actually break down the technique ❤️ it’s really helpful
Thank you for such in-depth answer to my questions! I haven’t seen Harry and Kasey’s video before and I really enjoyed their take, such a sweet song. Vowels make or break a singer is my takeaway from rewatching some of your analysis lately! ❤️
Your Takeaway is right. Realizing this in 2016 changed my singing life.
“Excellent camera work” lol I can tell the gender and age of the person recording based only on the harry styles-close up-camera work 😂
Or the position in the crowd?
@@Lauraphoid mm no, they were zooming in on him
Too be fair.. it was a harry concert.. and kasey came out at the end. Sooooo yup
The Original Amber Rose sooooo... what?? Because it’s Harry’s concert you’re gonna zoom in to him all concert long?
Ade S uh yes. Fan cam. I’m sure you can go to another video to get her in also, but this one. Just aimed at Harold
I just loved this duet. Simple, and almost just stripped down. Fun to watch!
3:09 "God he's got good voice"
Me:we know that ya we know that*nodded*
Atlast! Someone reacted to this! 😍👏👏
Peter Gabriel - In Your Eyes live ( Secret World Tour)
One of the best vocal coaches on here
He picks great vowel shapes for pop. It’s very smiley, bright and wide without approaching the pitch from below.
I think a lot of it is how well he regulates his volume between different shapes. Most singers stick to a single concept for ALL of their vowels to prevent them from occasionally popping out. He seems to have enough control and practice to be able to utilize them while maintaining a uniform feel to the song
Hi Sam! I would love for you to react to "El triste" by Jose Jose, he just passed away a few days ago and he was (and in my mind will be) one of the best and strongest vocalists that Mexico had, we seem to be losing more and more great singers from the golden years and while it makes me incredibly sad, i'm happy we get to remember them and keep them alive through their work.
Here's the link of one of the best performances of that specific song:
ruclips.net/video/LWSAEGMPXT8/видео.html
In the media it's always been described as a super hard song to replicate and to be fair in the eyes of the general public it does sound super hard to do, the intensity and duration of the notes kinda blows my mind and i'm really curious to know from a voice teacher the technicalities behind it.
Yes, please!!!! 😃
8:17 LOL he is Harry Styles for 5 seconds, OMG he feels it LOL
I learned alot from you! I have been practicing and paying attention to my vowels. Also I'm trying to find confidence and relax when it comes to singing hard songs. That's been a challenge. Thank you for your help!
I would lose my mind if you would analyse Mikael Akerfeldt from Opeth. Switching from death metal growls to 100% clean voices for sure would bring amazing insights from you :) I love your content and the good vibes you transmit with it. Cheers from Spain!
Damn, you're such an amazing teacher. Thank you so much for this! I'll definitely apply those mouth shape tips 🙏🙏🙏
React "13 times Harry styles vocals had me SHOOK" I would like to see it and I think you will like it!!!
THANK YOU!!! recently ear this cover with Harry and is beautiful 😭🥰 and thar you react and explain all those beautiful sounds, thanks
I dont listen to Harry , or have any interest in how he sings or really any interest in singing techniques. But something about watching Sam break it down it makes me brain feel like I know what hes talking about and it is very interesting. Great way of keeping my attention and breaking things down so that a complete amateur can relate.
I've seen a couple videos of women singing the opera from the Fifth Element. Would love to see you react to one of those. I really enjoy your channel. Thank you!
Hey Sam, I had a question. I've heard that young children singing professionally is kind of frowned upon because they haven't developed their instrument and don't have as much control. While they may sound amazing, they're ruining their voices long term and that people shouldn't even try to do more than learn vocal relaxation until their twenties when they can learn more techniques. What's your view on this?
Yes, please talk about this!!!
If this is correct i did everything right. I started singing with 20.
This is absolutely incorrect. The same reason babies can cry for hours at a time is because they know how to do it without ruining their voices. Children don’t have to be touring the world to learn how to sing. What conservatory teach told you this?
Griffin doer
Babies can scream for hours because their larynx is still flexible and soft. It hardens as you get older.
Children should not be imitating adult singers. They can sing, and take lessons but shouldn’t attempt heavier repertoire. ( belting, opera,)
Voices change with puberty, vocal cords get thicker. Women’s voices tend to reach thier full mature sound around 30 something, men around 40 something.
As a former child singer who got nodes from vocal competitions. DONT LET YOUR KID PRETEND TO BE ARETHA.
OR pavorotti. Or nickleback.
As a Matter of fact, how about none of us try to sing like nickleback. 😝
margi cates I didn’t think the question was about children trying to SOUND like adults. I assumed it was more a question of how often they should be able to sing.
And yes, let’s all avoid singing like Chad Kroger :)
can we talk abt when camera zooming on harry sam immediately smile and slightly blushing and goes ‘excellent camera work🥰’
I have this theory that most country singers, especially in this era, do not aim for vocal effectiveness... that country would lose it’s iconic sound if they became “efficient singers”.
So I think, as you said, this was (to some extent) a conscious decision in order to produce that “twangy” sound.
OMG THANK YOU Sam
I'm not sure if you have done her already and this is random, but I would love to see you critique Imogen Heap!
Thank you for your generosity. 🙂
On 8.18 I laughed SO HARD 😂😂
There are so many emotions in your face
Love it))
The funny thing is, I watch your videos with the same face 😂 just noticed
i smiled so big seeing this in my recommended
Hi Sam 🙋, there is a beautiful, talented and amazing young singer called Fouzia, she is a Moroccan who grow up in Canada. She has an amazing voice, I am sure you will be impressed. My favorite song from her is This Mountain, you can listen to the acoustic version, I think you will like it because she is one of the few singers I know who actually use their real voice.
Didn’t realize that I only watched his old videos... I thought he still has long hair I’m so confused hahahah
he cut it like three years ago and I would really suggest checking out his solo stuff :D
this comment... i lowkey love it lolz
Aww you're so cute!!! The world would be a better place if everyone closed their eyes and imagined what it would be like to have Harry's outlook on life.
And the talent...my goodness. You have a great voice, too. As a 61 y/o person Harry Styles has brought a lot of sunshine back into my life. 🐾⚓🐾
Loved this one ❤
“Nice camera work.”
😂😂😂They said “I came here for one reason”
I just watched a clip earlier and would love to hear your take on it! Can you review James Corden and Neil Patrick Harris having a Broadway riff off on the late late show?!
I totally enjoy your videos!
you should react to harry's vocals in general tbh he's quite understated vocally
Well damn, Sam, I watch and rewatch your videos and each time I learn a bit more. 😁
Harry’s record is Fine Line and is kind of supposed to be listened as a story: meeting the girl, falling deeply in love, the break up (not accepting it was his fault but finally accepting it -the song Falling), dealing with it and finally acceptance.
Now, there’s in Falling the acceptance of loosing someone forever (thank god he found recently a new girlfriend and seems happy). But the day before (night) his first “adult” (he was 17 and she was 35) love, Caroline, committed suicide. I don’t know the circumstances and I don’t want to. But Harry was devastated.
The Brit Awards ppl contacted him and offered to change the singers and his fabulous scenography and be replaced. But he went through the thing and I think he gave us that heartbreaking performance by pushing himself
“...and I get the feeling that you’ll never need me again...”. That’s why I was seriously pissed of (pardon my French) when that “music teacher” compared and contrasted his video singing with the Brit awards singing, making him an example of overpraised (he used that word) good looking singers that really can’t sing. And he went on pointing each and every crack of the voice, pitch issues etc etc.
That’s why I asked the most knowledgeable and FAIR singing teacher in my Patreon and that’s you 🙂 Thanks again!
Hey Sam! Love your content. I like singing though I’ve never taken any lessons, but I feel like I’m learning a lot watching you analyze all these singers. Anyway, I’m Mexican and I’d love to see you analyze two of the best Mexican singers
Luis Miguel - La Bikina (Live)
And recently a much beloved legendary singer who recently Passed, Jose Jose - El Triste (live)
It's so easy to get distracted by Harry's handsome, beautiful face and presence, as well as his hair, fashion and general appearance , but I feel his musical talent and songwriting is maturing all the time and his actual voice is really good.Plus he thinks about being creative and out of the box. He is the whole package IMO.You never know what he is going to do next- like the video that accompanied his new album/song , ERODA, which was so interesting. It was a short film that was his concept. He always wants to grow and stretch boundaries and I admire that about him.He is also wonderful to his fans from what I have seen.He espouses kindness! Sam,I really enjoy your critiques!
Sam thought better than to mess with Harry’s style.
Can you analyze Clark Beckham singing Gravity featuring Abbey Smith (aka yebba) pretty please? ❤
I SECOND THIS
Te ganaste un premio tienes un gran y un Oscar algo aparte de estar acá en RUclips la verdad que nadie puede aprender bien con vos no se te puede escuchar directamente
DYING FOREVER WITH LAUGHTER--"Excellent camera work!" LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!
Make a video reacting to José José, please 😢💕
This duet was added to this MSG show. This is the first time they ever performed it together.
You should react to him performing "girl crush" you won't regret it!
LOVE ur vids!!! Would be cool to see you do another Beyoncé reaction, either Resentment from the OTR tour or I Care from Beychella!!!
Sam please react to Vera Blue mended 1 mic 1 take. She has such a stunning voice and I would love hear your take on her vocal techniques
I would love to know what 'my voice' is, because I always end up trying to sing like the CD or the live, and that's not me but I have no idea on how to find my own voice for singing, LOL. I'd love to someday book a class with you! Hopefully you'll keep teaching on-line for years on so I can manage to save up :P
Great video! Thank you so much!
(How is it possible that I haven't been following your IG before? Rectifying immediately!)
Stephanie Manrique you have to sing a song you haven’t heard being sung before - look at sing along videos on RUclips that just have the beat and words
Sing them out loud and you will sing in your own voice
@@Laurensji Thank you! I'll try that!
Harry sounds so good in this song and it brings me back to the 1D days
It would be really nice if you could analyze Hillsong Singers like Taya Smith, Joel Houston, Benjamin Hastings, Aodan King, and Brooke Frasier because they have some really good vocals. It would be cool for you to analyze their singing techniques. Plus you would be the first one to really react about them.
Just a suggestion :)
I would love to hear your reaction to Kari Jobe or Cody Carnes.
TAYA YES
"Even when it hurts" those vocals are insane!!!
Yes yes like Tayas live oceans
Taya singing oceans live in Israel!!
You should review Shania Twain performances when this song was launched in the 90's. I also suggest to review Italian voices as Mina, Mia Martini and Laura Pausini.
I would love to see a video on Melissa villasenor’s covers on her channel and maybe analyze her impressions on snl!
Would love to see something like Lucky Stars by Coheed and Cambria, or any analysis of that light male voice around the passagio. The vocals in that song interest me a lot
Not related to this video in particular, but would love to see an analysis from you of Marko Saaresto from Poets of the Fall someday. There's a great acoustic version of one of the band's songs, Temple of Thought on RUclips, and a good series of live recordings with Genelec. Great songs, and Marko has a great voice!
DO MORE HARRY PLEASE🙏🏻❤
I enjoyed this performance a lot. Kacey Musgraves surprised to me. I didn't know she had it in her. I was so used to her sweet, saccharine, bright, girly Soprano vocals. She's sounding more meaty. The guy singer was good. Including his guitar skills. The key and the style... I am reminded of Bryan Adams. I need to listen to "Cloud Number Nine" again!
I’m still dying to see you analyze some live Aurora vocals!
Video may be too old to comment on effectively, but I checked out the podcast (pilot) and oh my god I love it. I have too many thoughts about it to even know what to say. Maybe I should start taking notes like McKenzie. Probably not... that might be strange. But it's great. It makes me happy. That's all.
Also I really like the way you sometimes respond to questions in conversation with another question that prompts the other person to more deeply reflect on their own thoughts and feelings about whatever you're discussing... like even if it's not that deep, it's still really interesting to listen to. Kind of interviewy. Uh yeah... it's cool.
Anyway those are my thoughts which I may or may not be typing into the void.
P.S. sorry for ruining 420 comments okay have a nice day
Celtic Thunder, recorded and live videos. Reaction and analyze. I think it would be really interesting to hear what you think of groups singing and how things change between people singing solo and when they are part of a group performance.
Con ellos y se llama convoy escúchalo por favor Please convoy👏👏👏
Hi, Sam! Love your reactions and analyses, by far the best on RUclips! I saw your reaction to David Phelps and, despite not being religious myself, I always loved gospel quartet arrangements. Wondering if you could react to something from, say, Gold City? Especially when they had Tim Riley (awesome bass singer) and Jay Parrack (super high tenor). Would recommend "In time, On Time, Everytime" or "God is building a church". Thanks!
Great analysis
8:07 why Sam giggling?
Okay he died By Harry Styles HAHAHAHHA
u HAVE to react to The Chain and Girl Crush covers! they’re amazing! also Landslide with Stevie Nicks (from the Gucci party). I’d say “Ultralight Beam” cover too if u wanna hear him going all rockstar straining tbh.
Love your videos! and yesss if you could analyze Taya from Hillsong omggg that would be pretty cool! I love how she sings oceans from their movie performance!
ruclips.net/video/bMiiNRuU0iw/видео.html
Sam- I’d love for you to talk about awesome Band leaders. Elvis was amazing. Bruce! There are so many. How a look can change things. Maybe you’d frame it as a tight band?
"just close your eyes for 5 seconds and imagine what it’s like to be Harry Styles" and there you got me, please more harry if its thats okey with you
Could you please talk about breathing a little bit , since it's what causes most singer to tense up . Big fan of your videos !!
adnane mestour Sam has a breathing 101 video, worth to check it out. Should be in playlists.
adnane mestour I’m not sure how many of his videos you have watched, but he talks about breath a lot! So watch some more of his older vids. Like watch “Can smoking weed, make you a sultry Goddess “ video.
i wish i could like this video multiple times. ☺️
I did not appreciate Harry enough before I watched your videos on him.
Could you analyze him singing two ghosts or girl crush? Please ✨
I would love to see you react to some of his other live performances like Girl Crush or The Chain
Random question is it possible for everone to get a raspy voice with practice? Might be a stupid question i know.
As in, a deliberate raspy singing voice that doesn't harm the voice, or raspy from less than ideal technique and/or strain? If the latter then yes, absolutely! But if the former, the voice is like anything, if you get training, and practice a lot, then there are lots of things you can do with it. There's always the chance that *someone* can't do a thing - no matter what - so you can never say everyone can learn to do x or y... but yes, you can absolutely learn to change the tone of your singing voice over time.
@@JustAnotherBuckyLover That was a good and fast answer. Ty u for that. :)
@@MysteryDreamer You're welcome, glad it was useful. :)
I dunno if he will, but I do wish he like watched more of Akmu, cuz those two are just musically so amazing.
