MY RAGE IS POWERED BY MUSIC RAAAAAGGHHH
Imagine how the composer's mind would be blown finding out there exists a medium where his composition has been listened to over 13 million times, all the while being adored and discussed amongst people who have never met each other.
well during Wagners lifetime, there were about 30 million people living in just Germany. He was pretty famous in his time, so 13 million might not have blown his mind.

I wouldn't be surprised to discover Wagner had imagined such a medium and thought it only right it be named after him: the Wagnernet.

Music is awesome. This is 150 years old and still holds its impact today. Makes me wonder how much incredible sound composition came and went through humanity before we were capable of recording it.
Something like this would not be lost. It would be passed down through generations by memory and practice.

Fighter jets, helicopters, I wonder if he ever dreamed of similar things before composing this piece. It is forever linked with aviation, but all he had were slow dirigibles to inspire him at the time. I wonder how he would react to his song being played inside our aluminum valkyries today.

Do you like Wagner? His early work was a little too 'theatrical' for my taste, but when 'Der Ring des Nibelungen' came out in '82, I think he really came into his own - both commercially and artistically. The whole opera has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the work a big boost. He's been compared to Carl Maria von Weber, but I think Wagner has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. In '67, Wagner released this, 'Tristan und Isolde', his most accomplished piece. I think his undisputed masterpiece is 'Die Walküre', a piece so catchy most people probably don't listen to the notes - but they should! Because it's not just about the pleasures of charging at your enemy, and the importance of the cavalry, it's also a personal statement about love itself!

Any Tamils / Indians here? Remember the movie Hey Ram?
amal narrated this in a show.
In the movie Hey Ram, there's a song Har koyi samjhe Prem ki bhaasha (Isaiyil thodanguthamma viraga nadagame). The song was not part of screenplay. When Kamal showed the movie to Ilaiyaraja for music, IR said he will add a song but Kamal said there's no space in screenplay. Raja asked him not to worry about it. In the movie, when Kamal is married to Vasundhara Das, he is conflicted between his love for his young pretty wife and passion for killing, shown by gun in the scenes. Raja uses that song to bring that conflict to the forefront. He picks Wagner's tune, who composed for Hitler during his hey days and internalizes it with Carnatic Raga Hamsanadam and whips out Har Koi samjhe song. Who would have thought of this, to pick up Wagner? And I don't think, even after declaring it, any composer can tell how Wagner and Hamsanadam sit together and come out so beautifully. That's Raja the genius.
