What you feel and feel about Richard Wagner is because his music is both from his heart, his soul, and a "typically German thing". He's one of the really big guys who reflect the Nordic-German spirit. This Nordic-German spirit has nothing to do with monotheism like Christianity. It's a character of its own which reappears again and again in German. Richard Wagner is inspired by the spirit of Allfather Wotan. Which always comes to the fore and comes to fruition.
Wagner is a genius , people will still be listening to his music 1000 years from now. You have to read his memory book My Life he says that in his childhood he saw monsters and ghosts everywhere it's too funny
Good evening.. My late father was fortunate enough to be a band master and my fondest memory of him was conducting this magnificent peice...I loved it's use in Alien but Wagner was masterful.
Of all the callbacks Álvarez made throughout "Romulus", this was honestly the best one because, as you said, it's a very subtle nod that doesn't draw attention to itself the way some of the other ones do. Plus it's a great way of telling people, "Don't worry, we didn't forget "Prometheus" and "Covenant" exist and your thinking we're ignoring them is cute."
I didn't see the movie. But the 2nd half of this clip with the harps and simple motif is when the Rheinmaidens down in the river cry up to the gods for them to retrieve the Ring. Wotan dismisses them and as the gods walk away into Valhalla, the Rheinmaidens tell them that what the gods have is all an illusion.

"It was in 1963 that I first developed an interest in Wagner, or "Wag-ner" as my speech synthesiser pronounces him. Wagner more than any other person before or since had the ability to compose music that has an emotional effect. It reaches a level no one else does." For Stephen Hawking.
This is Hawking's opinion?.......He should have circumscribed to his Physics.....Wagner was a GENIOUS, but the maxim is as ridiculous as so much of the plot of the "Ring"........Fame has people spouting so many embarrasing words.....Simply listen to Beethoven, outside of the sphere of Opera, yes, and a RICHER, more genial composer than Wagner EVER---and I love Wagner....

Nothing beside remains. Round the decay Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.” -Shelley’s Poetry and Prose (1977)

It's a character of its own which reappears again and again in German. Richard Wagner is inspired by the spirit of Allfather Wotan. Which always comes to the fore and comes to fruition.

It is your racial soul speaking to you.
When I first heard this in Bronson in the last scene, it gave me goosebumps. Especially his smile in the end, so epic.
Tommy Cipriani came here to see this
It was perfection Mate.
Wagner is a genius , people will still be listening to his music 1000 years from now. You have to read his memory book My Life he says that in his childhood he saw monsters and ghosts everywhere it's too funny
Such a beautiful piece. Words really don't do this justice.
...I will get them to play this at my funeral...
Peter Marosszeky ends up being rap music
That moment when the „play this at my funeral“ meme actually makes sense for one time

You don't look like a god!
A beautifully orchestrated piece that will fully represent your transedence into spiritual superiority
Good evening.. My late father was fortunate enough to be a band master and my fondest memory of him was conducting this magnificent peice...I loved it's use in Alien but Wagner was masterful.
Anyone from Covenant?
MLG Joe yes david?
Lobx YT Yes.
MLG Joe yes mother
MLG Joe Yes.
I killed everyone in Covenant and put my own settlers there.
just witnessed the Rheingold live. what a triumph
That brief and subtle nod in Alien: Romulus.
I have missed that in Romulus. Did they play a few notes ?
@@lgp2008spthey wouldn't play this in Romulus because the kids have no taste in good music.
Wagner always looks like he's thinking, "What the heck are those idiots over there doing?"
This what a person with a high I.Q. and also a genius looks like.
He's not laughing because he ain't no teeth brah
@@ronalds.658 sadly also a terrible human being
That photo was taken when Wagner was checking on progress building Bayreuth
@@Anonymous-xm8ip why? Because he wasn't the biggest supporter of semetic peoples? Yeah, and so were the majority of other non semetic peoples as well, who cares
Mr. Wagner deserves a posthumous recognition "EGOT" Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony for his genius musical contributions.
Why does it take a movie for people to appreciate great music that has been around for over 150 years, it's amazing
James Dixon Well you See most people aren't interested in this Kind of music but if a critticaly acclaimed "good film" comes out everybody is wanting to Hear it's Hit score.
Hope this clears you up a bit😀
Because there's a hell of a lot of classical music and a lot of us aren't familiar with Wagner's catalogue. I've never been particularly interested in him like I am Shostakovich but for me this is a nice gem to listen to which I wouldn't have found unless it was featured in the film.
James Dixon Because the majority of the amerikans get their education from Hollywood, i think
James Dixon -- because no one wants to sit through any opera, much less as long a one as this.

I’ve listened to this since childhood. So no movie brought me here, pure curiosity and education.
White privilege
Great
Is that a flex or something?
As the end of the song starts playing, we observe David proudly entering his Valhalla...really pumped up to see what Ridley Scott throws at us in the next movie!
rip
This is one of the most beautiful and poignant pieces of music I know of. When I was Curator of Ringwood manor I was enroute to an appointment in Tuxedo Park. As I passed through the gate this piece started. It was overwhelming. It couldn't have been choreographed better. As the lake opened into view The entry was playing the final notes

just look in the pod sir, find the beauty within.
"It was in 1963 that I first developed an interest in Wagner, or "Wag-ner" as my speech synthesiser pronounces him. Wagner more than any other person before or since had the ability to compose music that has an emotional effect. It reaches a level no one else does."
For Stephen Hawking.
No wonder Hitler was off his tits on this shit.

What a genius to compose something like this ... breathtaking

Just finished alien covenant again and wanted to listen to this beautiful piece of music
My grandfather gave this to me this as our German legacy. When he passed I cleaned our family monument in his memory and honor. Wir sind deutsch.
I have to accept that I had never heard this before Alien Covenant, and what a shame that is, because this is perfection, it takes you to regions where you would might never been.

- No problem "Wagner - Das Rheingold - Entry of the Gods Into Valhalla"
I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said-“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”
-Shelley’s Poetry and Prose (1977)
Awesome!
Nice. But it is a lie.
The Memnon colossi have no such inscription.
Btw, the poem is from 1818
Ozymandias? Yep it is I only know this because I studied it in English

Immensely sublime!
Immortal classical masterpiece!
How Stanley Kubrick influenced Ridley Scott. Space with classical music as background is very mind blowing.
Uma obra de arte... Música pra fortalecer a alma e o espírito!
A alma não! Mas sim o espírito! 🙂
The objective of art is to elevate beauty. Nothing else.
We have this in our marching band show, at first with a trumpet solo featuring the melody at the beginning, and then at the finale, our horn line has the horn call at 5:10, and we continue this melody to the end. Im watching this on our way to state, wish us luck!
My music teacher from elementary showed me this, then Ridley Scott reintroduced it to me
Good for him!
got tired of being manipulated by so called classic rock stations . now , a whole new genre of music to explore. and what a genre.

This feels like it needs a stupendous movie clip attached to it.
Think of the Pantheon entering Valhalla. Thor, Tyr, Loke, Sif, Balder. Imagine them. It's not that hard.
I play this in my home and someone tried to call me out for trying to be a poser and ideal “old people music” to make me feel superior. This soundtrack was played on my mom’s belly when in the womb and I grew up with it as a child. And you know what, I’m not superior, but I’m glad and grateful I’m me. Call it narcissism, but at least I’m not encouraging people’s deaths
I am definitely here because of Charlie Bronson. I didn't realize that Wagner was featured so much in the soundtrack, I have this LP collecting dust in my record collection I may just have to give it a spin now.
