    I have a huge amount of iron wood, assuming you mean ipe. I made a fence and some Adirondack chairs Tough to work with. I sold all my woodworking tools. I don’t think I could split it with a chop saw, maybe. It’s all a little over an 1” thick

    I use to make stabilized wood mods[vaping] and the process is prety cool using alumilte clear and puting it into a mold and then a pressure tank for 2 hrs to remove any bubles, I also had added alumilite powders to add into the part b of the alumilte, you gave me the idea to start making them now for knife handles. thank you.!.

    And I've been fighting 5 minute epoxy this whole time! Thanks for the tip!

      But remember to use epoxy to adhere the segmented assembly to the liner.

    What kind of liner do you use? I am new to knife restoration and so far I've only made solid scales. I want to try this. I have some cool pieces to try and put together.

    Excellent tutorial Dan. My only suggestion is to provide links to where you purchased the iron wood and acrylic pen blanks if they were purchased online. Thanks for the ideas.

      Will do next time. I had the wood scales sitting around the shop. Acrylic also. I usually just search online and buy whatever colors catch my eye. Next time will keep track of where I got it from

    Excellent video. Question: I know it depends on the knife and the scales but in general how long does it take to attach and shape a set of scales?

    • @DIYeasycrafts
      @DIYeasycrafts  3 года назад +1

      I kind of do it the slow way but for me it works and I get good alignment from side to side. I glue up one side. The drill holes using holes in blank as the drill guide. Then I glue up second side. once that is dry I drill through all three pcs. Bottom line I spend a lot of time waiting for glue to dry Buy total time actually working to attach and shape might be about an hour
