    I'm thinking about doing something similar to my Ontario Tak 1 micarta scales. Maybe not a coke bottle shape, but more of a Cutco steak knife handle shape. I've done this before to a RD7 micarta scales all by hand with different sandpaper and it turned out well. Took some time, but got it done. Not having power tools or sanders or a shop is just something you have to deal with.

    I've had a bushcraft knife done and scales ready but have been putting off in fear of messing up my first coke bottle handle. Watched your video and took the plunge! Turned out awesome. Thanks for the good tutorial.

    Having a rotating knife vise makes the hand sanding much easier and faster.

    I've been staring at a knife I thought I'd finished, but I hate the handle, it's just not as comfortable in my hand as I want. Watched this again, and will be putting my 8" wheel on this afternoon! Thank you for the tutorial.

    I dont have a contact wheel, or a spindle sander...i do have a small wheel set and scalloped belts....which may work

    Man, those are gorgeous scales. I would of liked to see a decent Hamon to match the quality of the scales. Maybe even a design or specialized finish on the blade as well.

    Where did you get those scales? I see it is some kind of dyed burl, but what wood and what color is that? Great knife! Absolutely gorgeous!!

      I got them from Cory Scott, however it seems as though his etsy page no longer has any merchandise. I will continue to shout out any makers whose handle material I use any future builds.

      I draw all of them myself. The cut outs on the wall are just my drawings put onto wood template material.

    How thick is the metal in this build?

      It was 1/4" thick.

      @@theriversexperience9383 that’s what I thhought. I have a billet of 52100 and 80CRV2 that thick and 2.5 in wide. I’m trying to think of a blade to make that big. 24 in length.
