Ok, just a few tips: 1. Diet. McDonalds hurts ETs. 2. Haircut and beard trim. Also helps ETs. 3. Tinkle before racing. Weight is the enemy. 4. Don't suck seed before racing. Again, weight. 5. Most importantly, get a round shift knob, power shifts are easier than with the T handle. At least that's what the rumor mill says. Very good times though, that thing really launches hard and sounds badass. 4.89 gears are great.
I loved that quick clip of the C body at the end, I gotta get my '67 Newport all painted and polished up. Still wears all 4 original hubcaps and both fender skirts...
Jamie, Jamie, Jamie, I can hear uncle Tony now you’ve got to put it all in context context context you’re talking about an elevation difference a temperature difference a humidity difference, blah blah, blah blah blah😂😂😂 Congrats brother…you had that thing screaming down the track!!!

Awesome job, Jamie. You're improving pretty quick, that's neat. Looking forward to more Demon updates. Also, you and Byron together are pretty hilarious.
Awesome car, love the old Demons! Car has 12.30-12.40 MPH in the 1/8th. Launch with more RPM, clamp the front segments of rear springs and get better rear shocks to control the axle. A good 60' should be in the 1.75 area and a 7.70-7.80 1/8 mile et. Front end moves OK (better shocks to limit coming back down), the car is porpoising a little, loading unloading (shocks/air pressure may help), watch the side shot slow mo and slow it down on youtube to .25 speed. 😀 Not enough wheel speed in 1st gear for burnouts. You got slicks, try more air pressure. Roll through the water, just to the other side, lock it down, 2nd gear drop the hammer and get on the brakes (if no line lock) and make some smoke. Drag radials - your burnout might be OK, I don't think you have drag radials from the looks of the tire. Raise your launch rpm 250 each time until you blow the tires off it, find the spot where it doesn't let the bog happen. 4 speeds can be hard on parts lots of times. Find the combo of more air in the rear tire (run as much as you can and still hook), launch RPM and fresh burnout procedure. Good outing, NOTHING BROKE!
The springs are clamped. I watched the slowmos. I meant to try 2nd gear. With the 4.10s it just slipped the old clutch so I stuck with first. No, I’m not getting smoke, but in first on the burnout, the car is pushing through the brakes - which I am standing on. It did the same thing with drag radials. And seeing the lack of spin, for what I was doing I felt good about it. I’m not blowing the tires off (like I did with drag radials.) I am going to raise the launch RPM and find the tire blowing point. Haha. Yeah, I think that’s where we’re headed. I know what to do. Thanks.
Find the 3rd gear you have! Peace in your soul you have gain! The force is coming to you, JamieSon. Happy for you Yoda is! LoL. Nice video and happy for your results. That is why we do it I guess, for those little moments.
@@mexicanspec Hahaha.. it will look even worse than the one he bought to the track last time... It melted into nothingness hahaha... Cheers Brother... 3:30am here...
You did a damn good job Jamie! I knew you and the demon could do it! It takes me back to watching drag racing near the Carlisle Chrysler nationals back in 2007. I can’t remember the name of the drag strip, but i do remember that it was in the middle of cornfields.
Jamie I loved it that 2nd run was epic with that Camaro falling back every gear change the suspension looks like it’s on point. The motor sounds great with the 488s it just keeps in its power band omg how I wish you could have done that in Tennessee. It’s gonna keep getting better and better the more seat time you get. So frickin awesome Jamie I’m so pumped for ya.
🗿💨if Tony wins ya gotta send him that questionable GM ecm that most have in our bolt box, or tool box.🙃 I enjoyed watching you enjoy your time in the Demons driver's seat ✌️👍 Heck yeah 👍 thanks for sharing
Warms my heart to see you pull that LS Camaro with the pimp rims, and I'm a huge LS fan (actually , I'm a big fan of many different engines, many Mopars included!) I'm a gearhead from the old school, and I even liked electric vehicles way prior to the current madness, but they can never match the feel of a great running engine with a manual trans..... Nice job 👍👍
Very awesome, the car responded well to the 4:88's. Once you got 3 gear figured out, she pulled like a freight train. I always have to remember to open my hand when slamming it into 3rd, when I clench it I usually miss it! Good time slips, I was looking forward to that!
Congrats; awesome. I was brought back to good old memories when you mentioned Bremerton since I was station @ Ft. Lewis from 82-85 and raced my 340/4speed dart and VW bug all the time. That raceway goes back to 1961 and it's still open is awesome.
I run drag radials. 26x10. 12-14 psi and smokey burnout. I launch anywhere from 3000-3500 no slipping clutch. Stock 440 6pack. I run 12.20 @ 115mph still spinning a little. 7.9 @ 92 mph in eighth with 1.9 60 foot. Since then ihave improved exhaust system and added cal trac monosystem. Have not timed it yet, but it feels like an 11 second that looks stock! Note en headers! Keep up the good work 😊
This might sound dumb, but I feel like you would shift better with a round shift knob.. I had a B&M shifter knob in an RT/TT and had to switch back. Just food for thought. Good luck beating Slag hammer!
Mannnnnn... I had a fun time up in Victoria, but truth be told I'd rather have been out there giving you guys a hand. Car really looks good when it comes off that slight bog, there's 7s in there for sure.
The bog may be gas sloshing back in the rear float bowl momentarily uncovering the jets. Had this same issue back in the 70’s running a Holley carb. Fixed it by fitting tubing to the jets that extend to the rear of the float bowl. Rear jets always had gas.
@Jamie, I think adding a wood carb spacer will keep the carb cooler and adding an AFR Gauge is a good idea. Every shift was a puff a smoke and could you see what rpm you hit up top? If it still less than the powerband you could add more gear IF you run 1/8th mile only. I'm happy you improved, Good Job.
I have the main rev limiter set at 6,000 RPM. I’m going to step it up… the notable puffs of smoke were when I hit it. This whole endeavor is run by seat of the pants and ear tuning. There isn’t an AFR gauge in my future… but I will be doing plug reads.
I particularly appreciate you taking on the challenge of mastering a manual transmission at the drags. Not everyone is born shifting a 4 speed like Ronnie Sox. Back in the day there were arguments about sticking with a three speed because there were the straight back straight forward shifters available to avoid that ‘across the gate’ shift
I considered a three speed for my Barracuda, but everyone says the ratios are terrible. Thanks! This is what I want to do. The reviews are getting better. Haha.
Impressive stuff! Especially without a decent bucket seat/harness. Here in the U.K. you’d not get anywhere near a track without long sleeves and a 3-point standard seat belt.
“If at first you don’t succeed” can be used three times as it’s a Three Stooges line. Once for each Stooge. I saw ‘Adam 12’ S4E22 ‘Who won’ a while back and it had Reed at the drag strip. Reminded me of your race 😊 Reed won as his opponent bogged down badly.
