@@ivanhristov898in options there is a option about mouse wheel where you can choose between zoom or change the range of the shoot. Also, there are buttons for that.
It’s funny you mention that. I’m in FDC in 81’s and I was trying to do that with the plotting board just the other day. Shame not all map grids are scaled the same.

i was using method 2 all the time, and believe me guys, it works really well also, in method 1, iff the enemy are at the other side of the cap zone, you can get the distance from you->objective zone+100-150m
Method 4: Use a Law of Cosines calculater for absolutely perfect accuracy better than Pythagorean theorem. Simply input side A and B as the distance from the target and yourself, then input Y-gamma as the angle from yourself and your target using the compass tool(iirc defaults off in options.) Usually better off using a friendly tank with laser range finder, but I suppose it can technically work with a drone if your willing to have slight inaccuracies of the drone being moving. This method works on the map universally, meaning that you can be anywhere on the map realitive to the target since this equation can salve any kind of triangle, Pythagorean theorem works for right triangles only. I mean, you can make it work but depending on how malformed the triangle is from yourself, the target, and the position you range from, you can be off by 100-200 meters. Oh, right, you might want to use google on your phone for the Law of Cosign calculator, unless you have multiple monitors like me :3

(you do have alot of space so.) If youre not the maker and you know the guy that made it you could suggest this to him. Would be cool for the lazy people.. also sadly i cant use method 4 since i dont got no V2 whatever math yet lol

I would say that there is another method, the ruler one. You calculate the scale of the map and the distance to the spot, you would get the best approximation even at odd angles
You've to just find the scale on the map, using the grids works well for that and just multiply that to the distance that you measure to the new target
It's practically the same as in Arma III (I mean, it's more confusing in Arma III but the idea is the same xd), I didn't know it was possible in Warthunder XD

How do you estimate distance if the distance you reading from your drone is different to that of your tank on the ground. Your drone could be 1km closer to the enemy tank you targeting than your actual tank so how do you compensate for that
What if you used the online Desmos graphing calculator and imported into it an image of the maps, set it to the right size, and then created 2 points being the firing position and target, which you would move depending on what position you and your target were, and then automatically calculated the distance between the 2?

You can do the distance i.e. 500(square root of 2)(number of squares)......I don't have square root symbol on my phone but your calculator will. Square root of 2 is 1.41 though so you can also just do 500(1.41)(4)

And how do I do that without a drone? I would like to play around with my M109 on 6.0. Specifically I would like to shoot upwards and make the projectile return to the ground, for example, I have a target at 1km but I have no vision; I wonder how far up I need to aim for the shot to land on (or near the target)

(i.e sin45) They are related, but from the math on screen, it's not Pythagoras theorem
It would be nice if we had a quadcopter type drone that could hover then u could laze distance to your tank and the enemy tank and use that to calculate the shot. When i saw this being done before thats how i thought it was being calculated but the drone constanly moving makes it impossible

I know a former mortarman who made plotting boards for some maps ingame that he uses when playing SPGs
I did it myself, take me a lot of time and Gaijin ruined my work by change the map after every update.

Low tier without drone for marking unsee targets is impossible, but you can use these methods to find distance for long range shots.

Unfortunately square roots are their own function. However, SqRt 2 = 1.4142135624... so just use however many digits of that you like. 500*1.4142*4
Different maps have different side lengths, so make sure to change the map scale (500 in this case) to match the scale on the map.
