The 170 and 185 division in the UFC isn't as stacked or fresh as it could be. So if Dana was to add a 165 division it'll reduce the amount of fighters in the weight classes near it that didn't have enough top fighters to begin with. I hope this makes sense
What I like about Khabib as a promoter is, he is all about promoting fighters, not about money. So this is just another way he is giving back to the fighting community.

I am impressed with Khabib's business acumen. He chose a business in an area where he is expert, he quit fighting and dedicated himself fully to this new venture, and judging from what he says now he has a very detailed understanding of what he is about to do. I am sure he has some smart people in his ear. 10/10. you can't play this hand better.
Also he's in a unique position compared to other promoters. In terms of him being Dagestani, he knows the Russian, European and Asian market. Not that those areas had holes in them but he's in a closer relationship to them compared to his fellow American based promoters

I prefer the country version more than the club one. His idea of clubs would introduce transfers and trades of fighters and then money will be involved a lot more. I don’t think that should happen.
Countries on the other hand could open up the possibility of MMA becoming an Olympic sport, which is possibly the greatest thing for this sport.

Eagle FC and Khabib already pulling great moves with those weight classes, signing multiple interesting athletes and having their promotion in the States. Some of you may not know, but the best fighters outside of the UFC are Chechen and Dagestan fighters. But not only that, there are many who are championship ready even for the UFC. We never see them fight in the UFC but we might see them in the States fighting great fighters from US, Brazil etc. in the Eagle promotion now. It's usually the visa issue, and political, but now something might be compensated in that regard with Khabib pulling some strings.

@@lightofshira i dont think the team fight khabib means is like 5 vs 5 brawling at the same time. I think it is more like 1 fight at the time for every division. So every team will have 1 fighter for every weight class, and they will fight other team fighter from the same weight class. The score will be something like best of 5 win.

There are a few avenues a fighter will take after they retire: coaching, commentating and podcasting, Hollywood (this hasn't worked out for many) and then there is setting up your own promotions company which is easily the most ambitious.

They're in a tough spot. Only 5 more lbs and you have 170. It's possible they might use EFC to do their superfights without worrying about belts and division. Just money fights. EFC and UFC apparently has some other deals between them too.

The hand movement when trying to enunciate and joiners like "like" are attempts at trying to communicate better. They tell you to watch for those things in public speaking type courses but it is a natural response. Mike Tyson has similar tics.

They're both under contract with UFC. They both wanted it and tried to negotiate a fight outside but UFC didn't allow them. Khabib won't fight though. UFC did reach him to do a superfight at 165 with GSP. They both declined cuz it was too late. GSP was already turning 40.
@@fahadus I'm pretty sure that the UFC didn't want to do the fight at 165. Dana has mentioned this several times.
As far as being signed to the UFC, that may be true but the big players like these two have wiggle room with Dana. They also have fixed term contracts, like Ariel mentioned in the last 'On The Nose' podcast, so GSP is expired by now. Not sure about Khabib but I'm sure Dana wouldn't stop him.
