I see some of my younger self when I was in high school and wonder if the amp issue is something that is recurring with younger musicians or not?

Sounds like he has a 15fender great little amp for the house. I think young musicians like nose candy and egos more than music. Explains the over the top texts
Hey Glenn, actually had this happen to me a few years back: I was recording a single (on my birthday!) with some studio time we won in a contest. My band's not really metal, though the song we were recording was kinda heavy. I brought my marshall amp into the studio and one or two pedals. We hooked everything up and in the room it sounded amazing and heavy (even though I brought my single coil strat for a near-metal song, which I still regret to this day even though it's my favourite guitar). So then the engineer was like "I'm not really impressed with the sound, let's use my Orange amp". I didn't really see the point, but we went ahead with it. So we recorded the song with it and got the track a while after that. The "metal sound" he dialed in was barely better than a DI signal... It's a nearly clean guitar sound, gain maybe at like 3 or 4 or so. Since then I really dislike Orange amps, which is undoubtedly unreasonable, but that guy really ruined it for me. Also have you ever had something like that, using one product and disliking the brand as a whole after? And have you ever had or heard of situations where the engineer was really wrong like that? I'm getting into recording as well, starting my study later this year, so I'm bingewatching a lot of (your) recording videos (again). Cheers! A soon to be recording student from the Netherlands
I honestly can't imagine a person that says "Yep. You have a big cool amp that sounds huge. Similar to the ones we use at the rehersal place. You want me to use it for recording? An amp that makes even my shitty guitar sound cool? Not going to happen! We wil record my Curve 7 Bug instead!"
Nick Whitman Completely agree. But I have seen the reverse also. Someone who get's great sounds from a cheap piece of equipment, but keeps getting told to upgrade it constantly because expensive = MOAR!!!! Or something. I've got a couple of ultra cheap Epiphone Valve Junior heads that I've recorded with, they cost nothing and (even stock, though I have played around with them) sound pretty damn good. If someone told me to instead "Use a Marshall". To me that is ignorance, what Marshall? What tone? Perhaps I am loving THIS tone.
Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Glenn Fricker's RUclips channel: Where Your Dreams of Being a Sound Engineer Come to be Burned Under the Harsh Light of Reality and Stomped Like a Bagful of Bunny Rabbits in a Crush Porn Video. But I have an idea for how to get musicians in your studio to be more cooperative: Take them out back and show them the nice fresh holes you dug, just for them. . .
Wolfe Tone Sorry, but the premise of these texts isn't about the nuances in the written english language, but about the conversations between band and engineer. I fail to see even if the poster had written "they're" in deliberately, how it can be called irony. Except now that it might by irony how stupid this engineer is after slating all these "stupid" band members
Dave Shortland Right, so in stead of writing a tagline showcasing stupidity. He should have: written a 2,000 word essay, not used any type of humour, or better run it by you for your approval.
Yeah-- right On! I was in a band for 5 years. We were really popular in Texas. Had a following, sponsored by radio stations, etc... I doubt we were ever really going to be famous, but, I loved gigging every weekend. So... We had some really big opportunities, and some people demanded we do a "Professionally Recorded" Demo, for us to go any further. We called a studio, found out the price, and gave our front man all of our money (Each person pitched in their equal share.) We went to the studio, talked to the engineer, and had it all set up. The engineer was NOT going to let the front man just have his way. he was going to do it correctly. The day to record arrived, we showed up to meet, and travel together..... and the front man had taken all of our money, and bought some mics, and 4 track recorders--- because he could record a demo better than that stupid engineer...... I quit the band that day.
He wanted to record with a 15 W amp? I have a 22 W amp that came with my first guitar, and it sounds like ass. I can only imagine how bad a 15 W sounds
The problem is he wants to use a 15w modeling amp to play heavy metal. You can certainly get away with lower wattage amps when recording, even for metal, but the modeling amp is going to clip at proper levels rather than saturate like a tube amp would. To accomodate for metal distortion, you WANT that headroom because it keeps the sound tight, dynamic, and punchy. There are always exceptions too, look at how awesome the Orange Dark Terror is, even for metal rhythms. Hell I've seen some people do miracles with pignoses and stuff too, but those kind of amps either are created to serve a specific function or create a unique sound. A 15 watt solid state modeling amplifier is not trying to be it's own thing; it's trying to be a bunch of other things, and not particularly well compared to the real deal.
I have been responsible for recording my band for some time (we now practice in a space that is a borderline studio), we started with a digital 8 track to record things like practices and drum takes for demos exported into Reaper. This is where I started to learn how to mix which to get a solid sound is much harder than I realized, it opened my eyes to just how difficult an engineer's job is, this is not even considering the added level of difficulty when you start to incorporate a more sophisticated set up like a studio, my level of respect jumped substantially. Now I use an analog board and some rack effects routed into Reaper and it frustrates me so often that I am tempted to send a basket of fruit every recording engineer in NY state. It's really hard. So for what internet cudos from a guy who will likely never be a client of yours are worth.... well I already know. Regardless, I tip my hat to you sir. That being said as a guitar player, let the guy use the amp he wants and make it sound as good as you can, after all it is HIS performance conjured up in front of his amp and he's gotten used to how it sounds... perhaps perfect isn't what he's going for... and I know that you have the knowledge required to make it sound as good as it ever will.
I don't mind sponsorship Glenn. I mean. this is half your job now so ofcourse you ought to earn some money! It's better for us too, because that will undoubtedly mean more content. I do however want to point out that I nearly closed the video because you put it at the halfway point. I don't need a distribution label so I felt that message was not meant for me. Also I'm from Europe. A lot of sponsorship deals are not 'for us' or we have a european/local better solution. TL;DR - is it possible to put it at the end of the video, that way I can choose wheter it's interesting for me or not.
Yeah I'm familiar with them (I believe you mentioned them before in another video). Maybe I'm just allergic to mid-rolls (compared to the US we (in the EU) don't do that too often, for example in television. Well, these were just my 2 cents for your consideration. I'll be enjoying your content nonetheless. It's what I come here for anyway! \m/
Fuck man, if a studio provides me with a 5150 or a dual rectifier for me to play on, I'll leave my Bugera at home :)

I love this section of your channel. But sometimes you interpretate the voices on the texts like they're upset , but It could be that they are compleatly calm...( except for capital letters, of course). Keep it up, this is gold.
Just so you guys know, in one of the earlier video's of this series, Glenn (I believe purposely) made a mistake with there/their/they're. Someone pointed it out, and since then there have been similar spelling mistakes in most, if not all, of the opening titles. I'm pretty sure it's all on purpose, and he actually knows when to use there, their, and they're.
So I'm a guitarist and I'm learning what not to do when it comes to treating other people in the music business before starting albums etc. Thanks for these videos they are really helpful!
I can't use a 15w solid state modeling amp to even practice with. But I can use it to block off the dog door that goes to my basement... ...which I do...
No man, if you play bass at least semi-regularly, the strings go dead in a month or two. If you care about tone at all, you'll replace them before they break.
Lmao whatever floats your boat bro, personally I like to invest in my instruments and their upkeep, but bass strings are expensive, I'll agree with you on that one
That Irish accent that ended like Indian accent! hahahaha Really enjoy this videos! And maaaan musicians are stubborn! Would "Shut up you thinned strings peasant!" make it to a T-shirt? haha

About the last message, the fight about the practice amp and the marshall one, reminds me of smashing pumpkings, they recorded everlasting gaze with a crate practice amp, and is one hell of a tone. In that message, both of them, the musician and the engineer should have tried the marshall and the practice amp, instead of pushing their "own truth" , tha'ts religion if you ask me
exactly studio big-shots like Mr.Glen Fricker want everything done their way with no artist creativity for it and this is why studios push out shit no creativity at all anymore just generic and bland to fit a corporate portfolio personally id rather hear it with a 15w practice amp because it might actually sound unique.
***** You do have a point there. Using the same equipment over and over makes for cookie cutter audio. It depends on what you're going for. Like someone mentioned in another comment, the Smashing Pumpkins used a Crate practice amp on one of their songs.
Though I do agree with the fact that a 15 watt practice amp will most likely sound crap, I do not agree with your premise at the beginning "because it has an 8inch speaker" that is not indicative of anything in a recording situation, the tonal range will be different, but that doesn't equate to being bad. Rock and roll sounds great through 8 inch speakers, Supro Super six for example, 8 inch speakers have the advantage of having a focused low range. But you probably shouldn't be playing high gain, though not impossible. And yes you have to be mad to want to use a spider/vypr or whatnot over a marshall tube amp lol
I could only understand this if you are talking about the specific amp in question. like if dudes amp is busted. if people want to bring their own gear to my place that's fine. saves them abusing my gear... and whole heartedly agree with the "cookie cutter" train of thought. if everyone plays the same guitar thru the same amps, what fun is that? variety is the spice of life and all that... different gear can give different sounds. try it all and choose what sounds best to you, not what you think is best. I also hate marshal stacks and will never put one in my studio I would rather use a practice amp. and get a better result. you cant force an artist in to a box.
+SpectreSoundStudios I'm sure you've had plenty of practice setting up this retort already so I'll take it, cause it's super meta so unwittingly make a spelling error and later blame the observer for not understanding that one-hit joke. 'cause a passing observer is too thick to get your deep, edgy humor thoroughly displayed in the rest of your videos ;). keep up the good work!
I thought it was probably used ironically...but if you don't point it out somehow, like animate it to correct, then you're just shooting yourself in the foot. And it is irony...why wouldn't it be?
I love these videos. What I like most is that they play out the same, in theme if not specifics, for any commercially viable art form. I once agreed to be an assistant editor for an anthology magazine (an editor is the literary equivalent of an engineer) but I had to call it quits after about a week; unreasonable requests, ridiculous conditions and unbelievably obtuse bullshit all within the first week. and those arguments were just me trying to uphold the standards and practices of the magazine. I am not a secretary, I'm not an English teacher, and I'm sure as hell not a miracle worker.
I usually dont mind promotion in RUclips videos, I get that you want some money out of these and the promo might really interest some people. But jeez, keep it at the start or at the end of the video!! Stopped watching when the promotio started. This is bullshit
+SpectreSoundStudios A promotion is a promotion even at the end of the video. Its up to the promoter to make it interesting enough to engage people. Promo in the middle of the video is just annoying as fuck. Not really different from a popup. Been using AdBlock to block that shit for years now and this falls in the same category. And don't try the livelyhood excuse. There are plenty of people on RUclips doing promo in their videos (at the end) and doing really fine for themselves. This shit just makes you look like a sellout.
One of the heaviest guitar tones I ever got was with a mic'ed 15-watt Vox Pathfinder with a Metal Master distortion pedal in front of it. My intention was just to make a guide track with the drummer and record the "real" tracks later with my JSX. I just ended up doubling the "guide" track that day because I was liking the way it sounded. That was probably a one-off thing that I couldn't replicate again if I tried a hundred times.
Glenn, I will never have your skills or half of it. I work with stomp modellers. Man, I'm learning so much from you. Thank you so much and keep rocking. Sorry about my English. Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭
A little off recording topic, but my favorite engineer vs experience occurred some time ago. I was working as a Software Tech and got a call from a grad student who seemed very upset. He wanted to know how to shut down Windows using only the keyboard. I walked him through the process, and as the system was shutting down I asked why he needed to shut it down that way. "Oh, the monitor is on fire and I couldn't see where the mouse was." Ah, College! The best and the brightest!
As somebody who designs and maintains websites as a freelancer for individuals and small businesses, I empathize completely. That long one about the 7 and a half minute mark is my life.
Hey man, i love your videos.. theyre really great, i love the funny punch you bring while being serious. but as alot of other viewers have said, i'd prefer the sponser/add thing at the start of the video, compared to just randomly popping up in the mid! i wont stop watching your videos over a sponser add tho.. the videos are just a pinch better without the sudden sponsering. =) keep up your work!
You could make "STUPID TEXTS FROM ENGINEERS TO MUSICIANS", as a parody of your own videos. It could be even more entertaining than your regular videos :D
Damn, that brings back a lot of memories I'd managed to bury... One thing to point out regarding the last bit and amps. I've always mic'd up the amp the guitarist has brought with them, and work with them to get the best sound out of it. I also DI the guitar and record that, so when I want to change the settings later in the mix, all I have to do is plug in an amp and re-record the output. It's got me out of a lot of messes over the years. It also helps the session run smoothly, maintains the relationship with the "artist" while leaving full control possible in the mix if you need it.
As a Bass player I can confirm I change my strings every 1-2 months depending on gig frequency. But maybe as someone who started on guitar that’s something I appreciate more than most. I also like a tight sound dull strings are the bane of my existence
I love the series, and one of the reasons is the different voices you do. Ever thought of doing a voice-over on South Park? Cause I think that'd be awesome!
hey glenn about the recording school one , they only want students to touch the equipment because if something breaks they can easily hold the students accountable
00:11 -- Stupid texts from Musicians to THEY'RE engineers? And you complain about the stupidity of musicians? Grammatical error aside, I LOVE this series. Keep it going!
Fucking love you Glenn, this shit is so tight. Love your tutorials, love the work you do, love the advice you give, love it all man. Seriously, im obsessed with this channel
At 6:03, sometimes I cup the mic when I am using it to manipulate the sound to get a certain effect; like if I wanna sound like an electric guitar, or an animal, but generally you're not supposed to.
my school is actually moving away from teaching studio recording and more to live sound actually XD I love both and you are awesome Glenn! i really hate when musicians send me recordings where everything is clipping!😂
I had a guy tell me once that he wanted absolutely no high frequencies in his bass tone at all. Clean singer from the same band was so bad that he went to take a piss and the guitarist looks at me and says, "You can fix that, right?"
Do what you gotta do Glen to keep bringing us these videos and support your family and your dream buddy. You're doing what we all wish we could do...Making a living from music. Keepz it Metalz!
Glen your hilarious but you know what really brings me back to watch all your videos it's how every song sounds perfect the mix is brilliant you are a god we are but mere mortals
Love this video man. Many of these situations are why I stopped recording other bands. I only ever put myself out there to record demos for local artists using an 8 track Boss machine. Charged low prices for quality work. Some of the demands these artists had were just absurd. Oh well. I just record my own music now. No more headaches over other people's stuff.
You were talking about young people learning to play an instrument and actually changing strings on it. You forgot taking care of the instrument, in general. I have seen countless instruments with "new strings" and in the poorest shape, and even if they weren't mine, my heart broke haha. Seriously. Take care of your instrument, even if it's a $50 guitar. It shows respect for the people who made it and your playing and attitude towards music. Love your videos man, keep it up.
About the "my own amp" part: I would just let them bring their SUPER INCREDIBLE 8 inch amplification WONDER OF GOD'S MAGNIFICENT CRAFTSMANSHIP into the studio and take a dry track to reamp later rather than having a discussion with this genius. As an added bit of fun I'd then show them the two different amps and tell them something along the lines of "Hey, I edited your guitar sound two different ways, which one do you prefer?" to then inform him that the better one is in fact not out of his matchbox of a guitar amp.
Which strings I use on which bass (I keep steel roundwounds on my 5 string Schecter, nickle plated roundwounds on my 5 string Ibanez, and flatwounds on my 4 string G&L) ultimately determines how often I change them. The steel roundwounds I like to be bright, because that's pretty much what I buy them for, so I change them often. I like worn in nickle plated roundwounds so I don't change them as often, and the flatwounds I can make last for quite some time. Depends on the sound you're looking for. I heard Ben Shepherd of Soundgarden is known to use steel roundwounds that he never hardly changes because the deadened sound he gets from them is essential to his style and tone.
I actually learned how to restring my 6 string bass a not too long ago. It was definitely more difficult and trying than restringing a guitar, but the feel and sound of fresh strings was SO beyond worth the effort.
The bass player with the strings is so funny. I learned how to string my first guitar withing the first week of owning it, AND IT HAD A KNOCKOFF FLOYD ROSE
Glenn, do you think the Marshall DSL100H amp head with a Marshall MX412A 4x12" angled speaker cabinet would be a good amp combo for alternative rock? I really wanna start recording with a band and start making music but i have a horrible Line 6 Spider amp.
With every episode of this I watch, I tell myself that I'll never do that if I wind up making music. Also, I love changing my bass strings because it's relaxing for me.
Hello Glenn, While we all try to record it multiple takes to get it right at first but there could still be some little mistakes, where do you stand on these issues whether to edit, re-record, or let it pass: 1. Manual time-aligning instruments that are slightly off tempo. 2. Manual pitch correcting singing words that are slightly off-pitch. 3. Picking the best takes of verses/choruses and sequence it together. Thanks.
I'm planning to go with choice no.3, at least for my own drum tracks. Record 5-6 takes of the full song, listen back while taking notes, edit together the best sections, job done :)
That was the wittiest bass player I've ever heard. "Shut up, you thin-stringed peasant" :D Win.
"Ireland: that magical island where you go to see a fist fight, and a rock band happens." Quote of the week!
:)
Gotta say that "thin string peasants" comment was low-key gold
That's actually me at 6:37, and I can confirm that there was no language barrier. He was just that bad at typing. He is American, lives in the south and thinks he's a gangster. I lost my shit with that comment. God lord, I had tears in my eyes with that comment.
I don't understand why people are so stubborn on using their own amp- I would love to use one of their expensive amps especially after hearing my piece of crap compared to it
I always take a DI track so I can reamp it later LMAO. Then they are like, man my amp sounds so good! Yeah sure it does buddy!
I must be in a weird area, all the amps I've recorded have been Marshall DSL 100s, Vox AC30s and AC15s, Fender Super Sonic 60s, and a Traynor YBA 1. All of em were owned by the guitarists I was recording.
+Doug Payne in my area the musicians are pretty decent, but are to cheap to invest in decent amps. So I always use my own amps or the studios valve amp

That thin stringe peasant joke was fucking gold.
i saw deftones at wembley a few nights ago. Chino cupped the Mic. 1 like 1 prayer.
1 like = 1 prayers/triangles
His voice transcends technique.
hahaha!
Cupping is allowed for dynamic microphones. Condenser microphones, used in the studio, cannot handle cupping as doing this can destroy the mechanism being used that picks up sound. If it doesn't shred the "diaphragm" it will force the mic to clip excessively. Cupping your mouth in front of a condenser, totally fine. Just not cupping around the windscreen.
Live I guess you can do anything....I'll never believe that a Engineer would let anyone cup any mic...I've been to many recording studios and I never saw that EVER///
"low volume on the female vocals"
>"So you want the female vocals to be lower?"
Was that really a necessary question?
Well, was it necessary for the guy to fail so fucking hard at grammar? A little literacy goes a long way.
To be honest, I was expecting the engineer to say "Are you sure you want the female vocals lower? Because she actually hit the notes, unlike your real singer."
+Zwiebel4 that would have been amazing

how is it selling out to promote a music distribution site? Just gotta hate when someone else is doing well. Childish!!

You're probably right. Just saw it and reacted. Sometimes it's hard to tell what's a joke and what's not on these comment sections.

Ok, for this one i'm going to rip the audio and pitch it back the way you recorded it.
Too curious to hear you making the impressions :)
Please upload it

More expensive doesn't always mean better sounding though.

"Curve 7 Bug."
But I have an idea for how to get musicians in your studio to be more cooperative: Take them out back and show them the nice fresh holes you dug, just for them. . .
LMFAO!
Continuing the binge with video number 16
Ireland. That magical island where we know the difference between "There" They're" and "THEIR" :)
+Dave Shortland but not the word "irony;" apparently.
Sorry. you'll have to elaborate. I understand what the word irony means but I fail to see how it can be used as an excuse for using the wrong word
Stupid texts. Thus will have stupid mistakes in them... irony.
There are valve amps that have 7w and sound amazing. A solid state 15w would probably suck ass.
Wattage does not equate to quality.
A 15 watt solid state modeling amplifier is not trying to be it's own thing; it's trying to be a bunch of other things, and not particularly well compared to the real deal.
randall diavolo has one watt and sounds awesome.
Not about wattage at all unless recording with it in the live band room.
+Joseph Black it's online distribution & available to everyone.
\m/
+Joseph Black thanks man, just trying to get by :)
By all means!!!
i almost closed the video cuz u put the sponsorship in the middle of the video too
I just realized that with the proper clothing, Glenn would seriously look like a groovy hippie
But Glen... Line 6 is the best amp ever... i can play all my Black Veil Brides amd Asking Alexandria on it😂😂
The way you spoke in that Irish text absolutely cracked me up haha
Message to all bass players from a bass player. These messages are the reason we are made fun of.
I know I don't own the best equipment. If the studio has a valve marshal, then absolutely will use it.
0:11 they´re? they are? nononon their*
I'm glad someone said something
I love the irony so much!
Seems like someone doesn't know the runnig gag.
Just so you guys know, in one of the earlier video's of this series, Glenn (I believe purposely) made a mistake with there/their/they're. Someone pointed it out, and since then there have been similar spelling mistakes in most, if not all, of the opening titles. I'm pretty sure it's all on purpose, and he actually knows when to use there, their, and they're.
lolsokje Yes I know, but the grammar nazi inside cannot let it slip.
The conversation at 10:15... the angry amp user sounds like Cartman xD
I love the voice
So I'm a guitarist and I'm learning what not to do when it comes to treating other people in the music business before starting albums etc. Thanks for these videos they are really helpful!
Why do people always forget the apostrophe in "I'm"
It mean's having to go to a different screen to include it and it takes extra time, they'd be better to just use "I am" instead.
Laziness.
Why don't their shitty phones autocorrect it?
essengeebee lot of people don't know how to use autocorrect or switch it off because they find it annoying.
Because their shitty phones are shit. SUDDENLY
I can't use a 15w solid state modeling amp to even practice with.
But I can use it to block off the dog door that goes to my basement...
...which I do...
WAIT YOU GUYS DID A BECK COVER?
+Fire Duck yes. Check our moon on the water
I just seen it and I'm in love
Ironically, the Irish voices in a high pitch sounded more like South Park Canadians than the high-pitch Canadian voice... Great vid as always man!
lol I'm a thin stringed peasant
You're a thin string plucker or licker or that's too funny bro fellow G stringer lol
Holy crap this awesome! I'm glad I found this channel! I'm proud to be a thin stringed peasant and a clueless bass player!
HA HA HA HA, lyric video release party...I love it, oh my god.
P.S. if you don't break a bass string don't replace it, that shit's expensive. Wait till it breaks.
No man, if you play bass at least semi-regularly, the strings go dead in a month or two. If you care about tone at all, you'll replace them before they break.
A month or two? Can't I just replace them with boat cables? They're less expensive.
Lmao whatever floats your boat bro, personally I like to invest in my instruments and their upkeep, but bass strings are expensive, I'll agree with you on that one
+Henry S Pun intended?
That Irish accent that ended like Indian accent! hahahaha
Really enjoy this videos! And maaaan musicians are stubborn!
Would "Shut up you thinned strings peasant!" make it to a T-shirt? haha
Bit ironic to call the musicians stupid when there's a grammar error in the first second of the video yea? Or should say "theirs" ? ;)
or hypocritical works too.
+paldri it is ironic. That's the joke...
Just so you know, in one of the earlier video's of this series, Glenn (I believe purposely) made a mistake with there/their/they're. Someone pointed it out, and since then there have been similar spelling mistakes in most, if not all, of the opening titles. I'm pretty sure it's all on purpose, and he actually knows when to use there, their, and they're.
Thank you for this! I'VE BEEN WAITING!!
About the last message, the fight about the practice amp and the marshall one, reminds me of smashing pumpkings, they recorded everlasting gaze with a crate practice amp, and is one hell of a tone. In that message, both of them, the musician and the engineer should have tried the marshall and the practice amp, instead of pushing their "own truth" , tha'ts religion if you ask me
Agreed. They wasted a lot of time bickering.
exactly studio big-shots like Mr.Glen Fricker want everything done their way with no artist creativity for it and this is why studios push out shit no creativity at all anymore just generic and bland to fit a corporate portfolio
personally id rather hear it with a 15w practice amp because it might actually sound unique.
I also hate marshal stacks and will never put one in my studio I would rather use a practice amp. and get a better result.
you cant force an artist in to a box.
first video by you that iv'e watched, my sides split laughing at the last one :D
you used the wrong their* in the intro. used they're when it should be their
Probably on purpose
+Ashton Hyman irony. Look it up.
Or a typo that is now ironic, and so takes on a double layer of irony?
This episode was golden :D Really deserved the hype of a 10th episode in series.
you really can't start a video about "stupid texts" with the wrong 'their'
+Swaying Hemlock yes I can, because it shows who is too thick to understand irony.
+Swaying Hemlock see! I wrote "so" instead of "to", so now I'm wayyy deep on the intellectual inside joke of all this lmao
That's not irony, it's bad grammar.
I thought it was probably used ironically...but if you don't point it out somehow, like animate it to correct, then you're just shooting yourself in the foot. And it is irony...why wouldn't it be?
Absolutely love your stuff my man, keep it coming! Just saying though, that was more of a Liverpool accent than an Irish accent!
Stupid texts from musicians to they are engineers?
Someone once asked why would anyone have a 6-string bass and I've told them "well you don't need one if you're a bassist, unless you're John Myung..."
Using the ole' red circle and arrow in the thumbnail clickbait eh? Pretty sad.
+Random G lol
Unlucky mate
Educate yourself simpleton: imgur.com/gallery/R2cPE
Insulting you makes me feel better about myself because I am often a victim to red arrows.
+Random G Ok, this Random G guy is pretty damn funny! (from a recovering arrow addict...the struggle is real my friend!)
+Soppa how dare I try to make a living!
I found this promotion really interesting!
I love how, for the texts from Ireland, you read it in an Irish accent. It kind of makes me want you to read everything in an Irish accent, now... XD
Wow, so the thumbnail thing really works out. Didn't expect people to just click it for some random circle&arrow. Nice one!
Glenn, I will never have your skills or half of it. I work with stomp modellers. Man, I'm learning so much from you. Thank you so much and keep rocking.
Sorry about my English.
Greetings from Switzerland 🇨🇭

"READ WHAT I FUCKEN SAID
I SAID HIS HANDS WERE FULL!"
Literally LOL'ed
A little off recording topic, but my favorite engineer vs experience occurred some time ago.
I was working as a Software Tech and got a call from a grad student who seemed very upset.
He wanted to know how to shut down Windows using only the keyboard.
I walked him through the process, and as the system was shutting down I asked why he needed to shut it down that way.
"Oh, the monitor is on fire and I couldn't see where the mouse was."
Ah, College! The best and the brightest!
Burzum recorded his first albums using a small practise amp and a computer head-set as a song mic. Sounds amazing. The norwegians knew how to do it.
I am so happy to see how far this series has gotten! I remember when it was up to 3....
The Irish one had me fucking crying with laughter, the awful accent made it even fucking funnier hahaha
hey glenn about the recording school one , they only want students to touch the equipment because if something breaks they can easily hold the students accountable
+Geordan Tomes no gods, no masters. I was just too dumb to not quit.
The 15w amp selfishness comment was gold, Glenn!
As a bass player who’s band is thinking of hitting the studio I enjoy watching these because it shows me what not to do
Omg this channel instigates my asthma! I want to watch more, but I should take a break for today.
I wish stupid texts video come out more often cause it's my favourite part of the channel. ^^
I really love that random red circle in your thumbnail
"Stupid texts from musicians to they're engineers...", I'm assuming the wee error in that sentence was intentional.
+J. Fomoiri :)
I seen the same thing xD maybe i should have scrolled down some more before i typed my comment
I saw that too.
Yeah, he made a typo in the first episode of this series, and eeeeeveryone pointed it out, so it kind of became a tradition since then :D
Pretty much assumed it was intentional, although I've seen all episodes I ever so rarely look at YT comments for the sake of my own mental health.
That circuit breaker story got me wondering on what your electrical setup is like. How many circuits do you have in your studio? are they 15A?
Ok, Glenn, when you raise the pitch on your voice and speak with an Irish accent, you sound like Terrence and Phillip from South Park!
This series will NEVER get old
LOL. You said recording school and career in the same sentence. Now that's funny.
Your voice overs in the texts are fucking comical, Glenn!
Dude, these just get better and better! 😂
With every episode of this I watch, I tell myself that I'll never do that if I wind up making music. Also, I love changing my bass strings because it's relaxing for me.
Hello Glenn,
While we all try to record it multiple takes to get it right at first but there could still be some little mistakes, where do you stand on these issues whether to edit, re-record, or let it pass:
Yea, number 3 saves a lot of time and I know some bands do that too.
It just seems like the least effort AND least "cheating" way :P
