Personally, I prefer object pokémon if they are Ghost or Fairy type because it feels like that makes sense. Possibly psychic and steel types, too.
For other types, it highly depends on how the design is executed. I think the execution matters a LOT more than the concept itself, and some object pokémon fail at that while others succeed. (Hell, even some pokémon from the types I mentioned fail at that as well while others succeed)
Some examples of object pokémon I think are great designs: Aegislash, Chandelure, Palosand, Klefki, Comfey, Alcremie, Dachsbun, Porygon, Claydol, Bronzong, Rotom, Drifblim etc.
This is a fair opinion to have, although i think there's something special about "Rock so angry it came to life to punch a guy"
@WobbleHawk Ha well I certainly don't think the concept doesn't matter. But it is a lot easier to enjoy a silly concept if the execution is a good one and pretty hard to enjoy it if it isn't.
There's also the matter of what people value in the designs and concepts that feel too personal for me to actually comment about, tbh.
@@larslionheart that's very much fair😂
I love the Vanillite line
Gen 5 was literally an homage to Gen 1 that’s why there are so many “item” Pokémon the gen 1 dex gets off way to easy. If you hate the gen 5 designs you need to take the nostalgia goggles off and hate gen 1. I’ve never agreed so hard with a controversial take lol
Based. ABSOLUTELY based.
@Eh-nj4qj i mean listen, gen 1 absolutely had some shitters! I think they tend to get a pass though because it was the first entry in the series. Not quite sure what the point you're trying to make with the item Pokémon thing is though. Do you mean that gen 5 is often ripped for having a lot of item Pokémon but gen 1 has an equal amount?
tbh i like the object mons of both gen 1 and gen 5, magnemite and trubbish are so cute
Everybody quick to hate on Vanillite, but say nothing about Voltorb, who is literally just a *b a l l .*
Spirits inhabit items sooooooo often in Japanese mythos
If you hate chingling you're a monster
Chingling watches eternal
Ngl the Soodowoodo amogus joke got me
People hate the cute little christmas bell? D= Atrocious. Look at ma boi!
The boi!!! How could you not love the boi???
You get Phione by breeding a Manaphy with a Ditto, but it doesn’t evolve
I KNOW you googled this
@@WobbleHawkso you do care
Not to brag but I'm probably one of the few people who like the ice cream family FROM THE BEGINNING!
But really didnt care that much for Geodude.
Also Pokémon is a magical world where animals have magical powers ANYTHING CAN BE A POKÉMON!!
Champion among trainers
Why do people hate palossand hes so silly and he kills people ❤❤
maybe its time to give these pokemons more love than bidoof gets.
My favourite starter torterra is just dinosaur+tree (he's a nodosaur not ankylosaur like some people think)
But yeah i love item pokemon
That's an excellent additional point.
I think it’s more with the man made objects. Rocks are something you would find outside, and many creatures pretend to be them in the real world. Plants definitely existed before humans, and camouflage is made after them. But keys? The only place you would find them is on the kitchen counter, where no animal in their right mind would hide. A teapot? You would find that in the drawer, not in a mushroom forest. A pile of sand? Yea, you find those everywhere, so it’s fine. An ice cream cone though? No reason for a living thing to look like that. That’s just what I think though, not saying any options are bad, just justifying mine and others.
Sure, but you gotta remember they're not all animals. Klefki isn't made of keys, he's just the ring and he enjoys stealing shiny things. And there's exactly 1 reason for an animal to look like ice cream. Aggressive Mimicry. When a predator looks like they food of it's prey to lure it in, or when a parasite looks like the food of potential hosts to get close on purpose.
And yeah, friendly debate is always welcome! (especially in the discord ;) ) as long as it doesn't devolve into personal attacks, you go right ahead XD
Pretty sure they establish in-universe that the Vanillite line came first, and humans based ice cream off of those Pokemon... And Pokemon like Chandelure, Honedge, and Sinsitea are literally ghosts possessing objects. At least they have a lore explanation for it, unlike _Voltorb_ lol. XD
Driftloon's ghost typing saves it because the idea of an object being posssessed by a spirit is an interesting concept. I would say this concept works best for the mystical type of pokemon like psychic, ghost, dark, and fairy types since there is a magical/supernatural theme to the pokemon. For other types it gets weird design wise so i get the criticism but i personally don't mind seeing the other types, I'm just clarifying this since I used to be one of those haters when I was a kid 😂.
Glad you joined the side of acceptance (and hype XD)
Out of all the Mon featured at 0:21, I like the Litwick line, Honedge line, Cofagrigus (That had potential to be part Steel in Gen 5 before the sickly sweet Fairy type made Steel lose its durability against Ghost & Dark.), Klink line, Magnemite line, Voltorb line (I especially like Electrode, fastest Electric type.) and Klefki (despite it being part Fairy, but I'm not only a sucker for Ghosts; I'm also a sucker for Steel, too.).
Trying Counterpoints (maybe):
- P̶l̶a̶n̶t̶ Grass types in general: They're not man-made, and they're alive.
- Rock and M̶e̶t̶a̶l̶ Steel types in general: They rock types. Maybe some day we will get a plastic type, a food type, or maybe an object type.
- Ghost types in general: Ghosts are possessing objects, since their inception; there's also the Tsukumogamis.
- Drifloon: It's worse than Trubbish. It's just a ball, much like Voltorb, Glalie and Cetoddle. Also, every thing is worse than Trubbish. Trubbish is great. I like smelling it.
- Cofagrigus: It's creepy. No idea what's going in New York, thought. Also, a mummy would be way better.
- Baltoy agree. Although I just remembered it exists.
- Solrock and Lunatone: If I had to put them on a scale between Inteleon and perfection, It would be in filler.
- Porygon: It's a duck and a Digimon. They should get sued for this one.
- Magneton: My very one sleep paralysis demon.
- Whirlipede: Millipede be circular as needed, it ain't no object.
- Darmanitan: Agree.
- Exeggcute: Seeds are alive, and eggs are cells, so they are also alive.
- Stunfisk: It's a fish.
- Stunfisk-Galar: It's a less boring fish.
- Combee: But it's so happy.
- Bronzor: Pretty sure it's a mirror.
- Alomomola: It's a fish.
- Luvdisc: It's an Alomomola.
- Most are good: Are they?
- Voltorb: There is a fine line between genius and idiocy.
- Amoonguss: Copy my homework, but make it a little different.
- Litwick: Agree.
- Honedge vs Klefki: A weapon used for gruesome murders vs. Might cause murderer in the universe of Kingdom Hearts.
- Sylveon: is cute and cuddly.
- Sandygast: It's ground. Maybe someday it will also be a plastic type for the shovel.
- Carbink: Best rock.
- Cryogonal: Just ice.
- Shedinja: It used to be a bug, until it lost its soul and became just a ghost.
- Cosmog: The cute ones always get a pass.
- Klinklang: Not complicated enough. I want at least 42 gears.
- Unown: Lore is cool and appeals to the type of people who wants to catch all Spinda forms, both males and females, shines and base colors.
- Elekid: It's anthropomorphic.
- Rotom: It linearly possesses objects.
- Gulpin: Agree.
- Castform: has boobs. It appeals to the fans of Rule 34.
- Sinistea: a pathetic life form.
- Chingling: see Cosmog.
- Arceus: Still angry that they didn't use the beta design.
You are saying shit genwhiner are not ready to hear. You are the hero we needed
I can't disagree about Sylveon but it's still my favorite Eeveelution
Look at it, it's cute, friendly and really likes battling against evil. I don't mind it's design though so who knew.
It's Genwunners' fault to Argue newer designs tbh.
I don’t like Sylveon either I always thought it looked it looked stupid and it stands out like a sore thumb with the other revolutions cause it’s so over designed it’s weird and also I’m still salty that there was no dragon type eevee to go with it wtf game freak
right! why'd we stop doing double eeveelutions???
@@WobbleHawk best eeveelution for me is espeon
@@gameingdude2266 YEAHHHHHHHHH mhh but umbreon though.
those are 1 and 2 though by a WIDE margin
@@gameingdude2266Not gonna lie
I like Sylveon to be honest.
Like how can you not like it, it's cute and friendly towards any trainers and can battle with trainers.
Re: driftloon (and some of the other mentioned Pokémon such as the plants) it's not immediately obvious what it is. Sure if you take a minute and go hey wait if it only had one string and was a different shape and different looking material that's just a balloon, youll find that with a fair number of Pokémon. But notice that with drifloon they didn't just smash some anime eyes on the platonic idea of a balloon i.e. 🎈. Now take a look at fuckin idk YOUR TINY CREAM BOY for instance. And they've just. Smooshed a face and arms onto the platonic ideal of soft serve ice cream. No one looks at that and has a moment where they don't think it's ice cream.
This is such a hair splittingly thin idea to even acknowledge, let alone form an opinion around.
At least write Drifloon's name wright (even if you tried writing it in the german version it's Driftlon not Driftloon)
@kubomagico8853 haha fair my bad, was typing it out quickly on my phone keyboard and didn't double check the spelling
Better than "generic bird," "generic rat," or I dunno "generic BALL."
Item based Pokémon that don't 💫do something else with it💫 are THE WORST you WILL NOT CHANGE MY MIND
Your comment just implies that you are showing prejudice against a entire group. I really hope you don’t do this in reality…that would be disgusting and inhumane behavior. Disliking these object Pokémon with a *lack of reason* or possible no good reason behind each individual object pokemon. All you stated was that you hate them, again with 💫 *NO REASONING* 💫so let’s dig deeper:
Questions: (Out of my own curiosity)
1. Why do you deem these object Pokémon as the worst?
2. Can you list all the object Pokémon that fit in your category of “don’t 💫do something else with it💫” and individually write why you hate each of those individuals?
(I dare you to, so you can prove your point. Maybe I will agree on some of them.)
3. Have you actually looked at each of there inspirations on Bulbapedia, trusted sources like Dr. Lava Lost Pokémon, or words from the artist themselves via interviews and see if they do have deeper meanings to them?
4. (Edited to add this question)
Did you actually watch through this video and try to at least understand the message and reasoning behind it? I think not because you would be left at 1:12 , right? Because he addressed people like you who are willing to reason. I don’t understand why you interacted via comment anyways. To be a contrarian? I get it’s freedom of speech, but you added no value to the discussion.
Take some time to actually think about each reasoning and answer. If your following the bandwagon, make a U-Turn and follow your own beliefs and opinions. You are your own person and you don’t have to follow others in order to be accepted and liked. Thanks for reading!
Also, sorry if you read this in your head as a negative tone, I’m not trying to make it that way. Maybe I’m lacking good communication skills to make it read as positive. ❤
@DCDex05 hey dude, really weird place to take this really fast. This is a silly video about Pokémon. We are all playing in this space together.
I don't mean this in a condescending way but you seem like you might be a little young; this generally isn't a great way to interact with people you don't know on the internet and comes off really hostile. I am not going to write you, someone I have never interacted with before, an essay on every Pokémon that I don't think is particularly interesting or creative. That's not a reasonable thing to ask someone to do, especially in this context of comments on a RUclips video. I am friends with this person irl and we argue about our takes on Pokémon for fun.
I personally think the less creative or well developed Pokémon are due to the time crunch the Pokémon team are put under to produce new games, and it makes me sad to feel like they phone it in. I have opinions on Pokémon because I've been playing the games and otherwise interacted with the media for years, and through that time have developed my own ideas and tastes.
Please don't interact with the internet in this way, I don't think it will lead to you having a healthy relationship with the online space. This is not an appropriate response to this situation.
