You're right. If you'd watch his parents' band in YT, you'd see they are doing primarily 50s songs. He'd probably get there. But actually, his 1st album is more like that already. Doo wop music came from 40s-50s. The only type of music he didn't seem to cover is like the sound of Thr Beatles which dominated the 60s. He doesn't even mention them.
I love how Bruno Mars just went retro AF back in 2017 and he's hasn't switched back yet but has made nothing but hit after hit with a sound that is almost 50 years old. That is talent!
Yeah I hate how people say they prefer the Bruno that released basic mainstream music. Don't get me wrong his older songs are decent but they aren't as musically complicated compared to his recent tracks. Like even the drum fills alone in the silk sonic tracks.
