I first heard, "Gonna leave the door open", on a TV show in the UK last year, I thought they were a band I'd missed during the 70's. Then I realised they were Bruno & Anderson. Playing something by Silk Sonic always make my feet tap and my my face smile. They really "the soundtrack of the 21st century".
How? Because they are straight up taking a page out of 70's soul music. Everything about this sound is what i grew up on. They are simply going back to the best form of soul music sound, of a formula created in the 70's.
Those who are complaining about the album not geeting released its called great marketing they value their music and creativity and want to milk it and we should appreciate that they are not like other artists that will drop anything
I noticed that most of the compliments are going to Bruno. They're well deserved but Anderson is fire as well. The two of them together is something SPECIAL.
Anderson and Bruno are like a well fit glove, they really sound great together. I love it that Bruno being a star that he is, has this Collaboration thing going on with this group, not many star artists does this, so I give it up to Bruno for making it happen. The are both bad to the bone, bringing back ole school mix with new sound….I love ❤️ it!!!!!
For those of us who lived this era, I can tell you this music, their dance moves, the voice inflections, the clothes, the lyrics... all of them are 100% exactly what was happening back then. All of the Silk Sonic tunes/videos are brilliant. This resonates so deeply. And if you didn't live back then, you can't even realize how exact and detailed all of these songs are. Wow! just WOW!
Your analysis is extremely accurate. The ONLY thing that is "off" visually is the hairstyles of some of the women. One or two of them should have afros to complete the 70s vibe.
I love the music, but nobody's gonna talk about the smooth dancing skills of these beautiful, natural sistas skating circles around Silk Sonic. Skating sirens. Love seeing women I look like and grew up with! Love the vibe! Can't wait to buy the album and eventually see SS in person.
