In my family, a lie was considered one of the biggest possible transgressions against my parents and family. Caught and the shame of lying was greater than the punishment - and my parents didn't hold back but doled out the strictest of punishments for lying, no matter the "size." Safe to say this was fairy well established practices in my small southern community in the 50s and 60s. I don't understand how and why this core violation of civility and directive has been so blatantly violated. I can only surmise that folks nowadays feel no shame anymore nor do they feel punishment for lying is justifiable. Thanks, Maryanne, for this reminder of how far we've fallen from what was once considered core principles.

Used to make me giggle with the mental images it gave me. But if that were so and the penance for sewing. Then I can only hope that a chronic liar will face something 10 fold! It wasn’t that hard and I don’t understand how anyone did not see through him! Well, they did, but he would destroy them if they went against him. It’s been an awful time. I even changed parties, because I was not going to vote for him ever. Most of my family did not, my children, and it’s been a big wedge in our relationship. I don’t understand it. My children are grown and they’re smart and they’re successful and yet they vote for him and my daughter yells at me if I say one word against him. ❤ The necessity of honesty is paramount in our lives. All political officials have to be held accountable for their words and need to be impeccable in their truthfulness. The courts and lawyers, judges and other people who are in a position of being involved with a position of trust, must be committed to the truth. News organizations have to be careful about what they do and how they are presenting News truthfully. Teachers and educational institutions are also extremely important to be honest and not just distorting historical information. Lying is a great problem for us all in our lives. We all need to be able to trust in the process of our relationships with our government and our doctors, educational professionals, experts, lawyers, attorneys, and other people who are in positions of power and are necessary for our humanity to function effectively. Having integrity and responsibility for the truth is the best thing for us all.
Oh ,and last but not least...corporate entities are certainly in need of being truthful with the focus on exposure of their interests and their actions. After all ,they have been given the right of individuals. Being bamboozled is not a good thing for us to be able to trust in the process of getting along and survival through this difficult situation of living with lying and deceptive practices.
