I studied this bike for a year and just had to have one. Found a leftover 2018 in black - which is what I wanted anyway. Still too much silver on it for my taste, so I blacked it all out - a real head turner. No, it's not the baddest bike on the block, but it's certainly the best looking. Besides, in normal use, who needs more than 145 HP? I traded in a VFR1200F for this bike and I'm happy as hell with it. It'll keep up with the VFR up to 80 MPH, and believe me, 467 pounds is a lot more fun than 600 pounds. Smoothest engine in the world, and, yes, the muffler sounds just fine. Plenty of torque in any gear - even in 6th at 25 MPH it's got smooth strong acceleration. I've never ever been burned by a Honda, from my Super-90's in the '60's, my first true love CB750 in 1970, a CL450, V45 750, V65 Sabre, V65 Magna, VFR1200F, and now this beauty. I love this bike. Call it Naked, call it NeoSports Café, call it whatever you want - it's a great bike.

Excellent review......explains exactly what the bike is all about.....helps clarify it's strengths and what type of rider it will be of interest to.....
Honda really are good at creating bikes with character and bullet-proof build quality.
Lots of folks like the 'streetfighter' macho style.....hence the large number of new models in recent years.....

Not on par with a Euro street fighter or the Yamaha but...
-Makes more power than the Yamaha at the wheel
-Has all the electronic doo dads of the Euro bikes and the Yamaha
-Uses the engine out of the CBR1000RR.
Don't see how in any way this is inferior to the Super Duke, MT-10, Tuono, and S1000R. It deserves to be right up there with them and if I'm honest, despite my unabashed love for Yamaha and BMW, I think it looks better than any of the super street fighters out there.

So I have to admit I'm just getting into motorcycles that's why I watch all these videos on the regular I'm trying to figure out what I want to get. I've noticed that a common theme in every motorcycle review Channel is hey it's kind of cool but it's not an Aprilia.... I think you reviewers get really spoiled with the range of bikes that you're able to ride and enjoy. Not everybody in the world has $15, 000 - $20, 000 to drop on the new Aprilia.. it just doesn't make any sense. Aprilia and Ducati are the Lamborghini and Ferrari of bikes. This review is like me saying hey I like my Chevy Impala but it's not a Ferrari LaFerrari? I don't think someone who's looking to get a Honda anything is even trying to compare it to an Italian bike. They're getting it because it's reliable and fun at a reasonable price. Obviously keep reviewing and keep doing what you're doing but quite frankly you lose me when you start comparing two bike brands that are so different...

I think your review is the only one that put it that way in terms of market position, this does however put the bike in a very small niche though. Great review!
Edit: after reading the comments I do agree, this isn't really a retro bike, it's more like a continuation of the older bikes' designs had their not been a "streetfighter" faze. Great look either way, but a 1000cc's are too much for poor ol' me! My 650 is plenty fast enough, even though I found out last night that it doesn't hold a candle to a 600! Bikes are freaking fast!

    Awesome review Sir Neeves☺
Coming on to the bike, I for one, like what Honda has done here. The bike does have a classic(quasi) touch, mixed with cafe racer, and standard naked design. None the less, the design is extremely pleasing too the eye and as Sir Neeves pointed out, the quality even from the video looks amazing.
For years people have said that everything Italian is spicey, whilst everything from Japan is bland.
Well chaps....this bike just proves you wrong. Its design reeks of emotion above everything.
    Well done Honda.

It has a fucking awful throttle response, though... And a lot less power.

Sorry, it still looks like a computer idea of what cool looks like. Honda fans will no doubt like it but i can't see it selling by the bucket load when you have the Kawa 900 mopping up the retro scene and the MT-10 doing well in the super naked category. And how on earth you describe that exhaust as a thing of beauty is beyond me.

Yes, we need another super naked, the naked version of the Ducati Panigale V4, bring back the Streetfighter with the V4 engine, handling and electronics and I'll put my name down for one.

No, fortunately neither can I. Let the masses have those plasticky-manga-styled abominations. People with class will welcome the exclusivity of their CB1000Rs.

Umm there's nothing "old school" about cooling fins on the back of an LED headlight. They ARE needed... for cooling.

I was one of the people who clicked like on this comment but when I finally saw the bike in person I realised the "cooling fins" were in fact plastic.

Hass Chapman the difference is the Honda will go trouble free for 100k miles, just change oil and add gas. Triumph is a hit and miss proposition. Some are great others not so much

Its not retro as it does not have a bench seat, pillion seat and footrests are too high.
