Great to hear the warts and all view of full time van life. It's definitely something we couldn't do given Mels health and mobility issues. However, as you've seen it doesn't stop us living some of the life you do. The car/caravan combinattion suits us and I'm loving adding the solar system to allow us much longer off grid stays,. Dene Hollow showed us how easy and cheap off grid can be, and it's where we first met you! Another great vid. Prep for Fleetwood Follies is progressing well - building the b-roll catalogue! Looking forward to the next vlog. Happy new year to you both, and of course, Chancer too.
Hi Tony and Mel and not forgetting Reggie, it’s the same for you really as us when it comes to the living part, I agree the getting more solar and making your van the way you want it is one of the best parts for us, especially doing it on a budget, good to hear the follies is progressing looking forward to watching your adventures. Take care guys and hope to see you in 2024 safe travels 🥰🙏👍👊🚌🏴

Hi Heyden hope you had a good new year’s, we thought it was a good example of how you can do fulltime and use campsites, would like to get the site fees down a little bit by more off grid this summer, and some rallies, thanks for your support this year buddy and see you soon. Safe travels 🙏👍👊🚌🏴
How do Steve and Lorna. This has been a great informative video with lots of great tips and advice and things to think about. Many I wish I'd known when downsizing from Bessie to Viv-i-van. I don't regret selling the bessacar. It had many memories that dragged me down after loosing Mum. That's why I got Viv to leave sad memories behind and make new good ones for me. A few things you said resonated. Loneliness if full time is something that stopped me selling the house-though I very nearly did! . Its different if you have a partner who you can fill your time with as you both do. Size is an issue too. I couldnt go back to driving a big van again, especially on my own. What I did notice was when you showed the bit when you first got the van ,and hand over the van looked antiseptic and soul-less. Having us met up and being in the van, that van truly looks like a home now. You have made the van full of both your personality and love and of course, Chancer adds that little more magic. I dont feel that kind of vibe in Viv but then again, Ive not used her much so that would come. I deffo know at the moment my mental health doesnt put me in the right frame of mind for full time. If that changes, and I am taking steps to get there, I might rethink in the future. I must admit I was surprised at your figures. I did feel it would be much higher so you gotta be doing something right. I think you both made the right choice and dont just park up on insudstrial estates like some vanlifers do. deffo wouldnt work for me, and you've made sure for the most part, you've chosen to be on places where you feel at home. When we met up earlier in the year, the vibe around you bth and Chancer, I certainly felt and took home with me. I hope you didnt mind me saying that. To meet people like you both and be uplifted.... It made me look forward more and appriciate possibilites Viv could give me. Anyhoo, I've waffled on too much lol. Should have saved it for when we meet up but you know me, id probably forget. Thanks for continuing to be my inspiration. Much respect- 🙏 Kenny

Great vlog guys, one little question. Im 64 and stopped smoking only 6 years ago having been a 20 a day smoker for 47 years. I notice you use a vape and I smoked for such a long time due to being addicted to the nicotine so whats the thing with vaping. Is it just for the sake if having to inhale something or a distraction for something else or stress related or street cred or !. Im just baffled that if theres no addictive quality to it whats the point. I personally having battled to quit smoking would never even think about taking up any kind of habit that could have anything to do with inhaling a chemical that is not natural other than a Vic's inhaler to clear the respiratory system. I just dont get the vape thing at all.
Hi buddy good point, mine is with nicotine but lorna not, we both gave up smoking at the same time but I didn’t really want to, now I intake more nicotine than I did before, which is stupid but I enjoy it, lorna is going to quit altogether some time soon, hope this helps and thanks for asking, have a great new year and safe travels 🙏👊👍🚌🏴
@@wanderingbychoice wow, I didn't realise you could get nicotine in a vape. You really should consider trying to ween yourself off the nicotine as it's really not good for the vascular system and more importantly the heart. Especially as you have a heart condition. The other down side to nicotinic is it causes many nutritional deficiencies that can and will impact your health especially in our over 60s age group. Just a suggestion not having a dig as it's your life, but being as you seem to be both enjoying a new lease of life with the travelling and great walks it would be a terrible shame for you to develop a life changing illness because of addiction.. just saying. So happy New year to you both and good luck with whatever choices you make.and thanks for answering my question. I love Chancer by the way, lovely dog.

Hi Andrew thank you, Lorna gets her state pension but I’m 58 and gave up working when Lorna retired, we also have Lornas private pension too, so we can get by quite nicely whilst still watching the pennies, we didn’t live in luxury before doing this so this comes naturally to us, hope that makes sense, you should definitely go for it when you can, you won’t regret it if you prepare well, we love this lifestyle so much, take care and safe travels buddy 🙏👍👊🏴🚌

Smashing that like 👍
Thanks buddy you are a star, have a great new year ahead 🙏👍🚌👊🏴
How long do you tend to stay on a site and did you have any trouble finding sites through the peak seasons?
Hi Gill depends really but avg is 14 nights sometimes longer, have always managed to get a site not always the one we wanted, fully booked or hadn’t got the dates we wanted, but really we just pick a direction and see what we can get, winter no problem at all, take care and safe travels 🙏👍🚌👊
Good to know. Great post. Thanks so much 😊
Hi Steve, just out of interest what camera over heated?
Hi guys sony zv1 does it now and again over 30 mins of recording. 👍👊🏴🚌
@@wanderingbychoice we're having real issues with our gopro 11, the thing just over heats every time we use it. Love the yearly break down, it will help us budget for when we go full time.
@@KevnHeidido hi guys the GoPro has been overheating since v6, they can’t be bothered to fix it, mind you both I’ve insta 360 go2 and the 360 one x2 both do the same, I’m thinking about a DJI action 4, glad the video is helpful 🙏👍👊🏴🚌
But what about the price of your motorhome?
Hi Lorraine, we didn’t factor that in mainly because it’s paid for out of a private pension lump sum, so wasn’t sure if it was worth adding in, hope it didn’t spoil it for you, have a great new year and safe travels 🙏👊👍🚌🏴
What an inspiration both of you & happy new year! 🥂
Assume you're both retired now & doing this via state pensions ?
Personally I'm 55, still working but have my motorhome & thinking of moving into mine & get some money behind me for the future whilst enjoying life in the meantime too!
