'Sam' was co written by guitarist/singer Hank B Marvin who won a Country music award for the song that he still treasures! Mostly because Hank (who with his wife Carole were great friends of Olivia) is not known for Country music, more rock 'n' roll and Pop yet he was and still remains an ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT SONGWRITER! I went to that Physical tour back in 1982 in KC Mo. she was phenomenal, & I was a huge fan until the day she died, I still cry knowing she’s gone, way to soon for a lot of us, I was fortunate enough to have met her in 2014 at LV Nevada when she did her last residency there, I will never forget that time in my life, what a wonderful woman she was

Awesome, if this is your first introduction to olivia Newton John you have a long and incredible journey ahead. This was from her physical concert tour 1982. I would suggest you watch the whole concert start to finish.
ONJ, Olivia, was my high school crush when she arrived on the music hit charts in the early 70's. A few early country hit songs, her music soon crossed over to pop music. I Honestly Love You is my favorite ONJ song. So popular was I Honestly Love You, this song would be her closing song at her live concerts. As a teenager, I dreamed she was singing I Honestly Love You directly to ME! Check out her 60's themed film, Grease, which resulted in a very successful movie soundtrack. Mid 70's I would put 5 of her LP's on the turntable every night to go to sleep. Happy to say I saw her twice on this tour. She was special, and I don't think she ever knew (or believed) she was all that. She was my youth in many ways.

I had the pleasure of meeting LIV before her concert, getting her to sign my first ever ONJ album (If You Love Me, Let Me Know), taking a one-on-one photo with her, and sat in the front row of her concert that night. During the concert she looked towards me with that, "I remember you" look, as I held up the album she autographed for me before the show. "I Honestly Love You," Livvy!! 🌹❤️. I love ONJ! Great reaction. As Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees stated many times, ONJ was the best female vocalist of her generation. 100% agree. Please try finding a live 1974 performance of her song I Honestly Love You (not the 1998 remake video). Olivia was always mesmerizing and captivating. Anything from that same 1982 concert would be amazing.

I saw her live in the same year she released her Totally Hot album which was after Grease the movie. Her vocal range was phenomenal! The song Please Don't Keep Me Waiting had her taking on the lead guitarist! I'll never forget it. She was an outstandingly beautiful person with a voice gifted to her by God. She was loved by everyone here in Australia! RIP Livvy! And thank you for all your music and your sweetness! ❤

LOVE Olivia Newton-John to have followed her career as it unfolded. SAM and her live version of the song always a treat. Livvy's vocals regal, warm and emote. You are right, Olivia had the ability to make you think she was singing to just you. I hope you explore more of her catalog as watching new eyes appreciate ON-J's vocal gifts allows us who grew up on her to fall in love all over again. Also to note about Dame Olivia, what an even greater person she became in later life to grow. Her spirit, love of life, cheeky humor opened the doors for kinder ways of treating cancer with her OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN CANCER, WELLNESS, & RESEARCH CENTER hospital in AU.

I finally watched that concert on YT the other day after skipping it back in '82 because I thought she had sold out, but was I ever wrong. Although the sound quality is poor, it's a stellar performance rife with legendary session musicians and great backup singers not to be missed. She hams it up a bit, but the good Dame ONJ was earnest enough that it works for her.

I think Karen's voice yes, but Olivia is right there with her. As for Linda, definitely a talent, but in comparison to both ladies respectfully, Olivia is ranked number 6 th of all time in comparison to women and groups. Huge career, could sing anything, emotive, but best of all, what a wonderful, loving, and caring woman! Loved and did work for children, environment, and cancer. True icon not these others of today...❤

Maybe ur next ' Van Halen ' reaction you could go to the very 1st album/Cd they released & listen to the sounds that ACTUALLY changed music ' Van Halen-Ain't talking bout love or Jamies crying. This would give you a good idea as to what happened back in 1978 thats still felt today. Van Halen played alot of RnB/funk cover songs before they became BIG. Thats why you hear a more funky yet heavy type style that draws you in.
