    Trevor Bayne was sadly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis short after his win, but the guy is still around and racing, so much respect for him

    So I want to put this out there about Hornish. I live local to him roughly a 30 minute drive and see him out and about either driving semi or running around town. I've had a few chances to talk to him and he's always super genuine. He would love an opportunity to race but he fears not being able to compete at the same levels as others. Like the article stated he wouldn't turn down a chance but he's not entirely sure it's for him still. I know I'd love to see him come back even for just one more.

      I'll never forget his shining moment of glory winning the 2006 Indy 500 in such thrilling fashion. I've seen every one since 1995 (and some before that) and that remains my favorite.

    Carl Edwards retirement shocked everyone. He left the sport under really strange circumstances. I would love Carl Edwards to come back to NASCAR even if it’s on a part time basis.

    Marcos Ambrose is now a successful crew chief for a Trans Am team here in Australia and occasionally drives in random appearances here and there, he's still very much heavily involved in motorsport. Good bloke.

    Ryan Reed is actually still pretty invested in the sport. He works as a driver coach/manager for Jack Wood, who races for KBM in trucks, and REV Racing in Arca.

    Ambrose did actually make a one off racing comeback this year in the Bathurst 6 Hour and he led some of the race until his gearbox failed.

    I remember Carl Edwards was rumored as a candidate to take over the 42 when Larson was suspended in 2020 but turned it down, leading Ganassi to ask Kenseth instead.

    Trevor actually said he was going to be full time at jgr this year but they lost the sponsor last minute
    He is still gonna run a couple races for them later this year apparently

    Forgot to mention Greg Biffle. Didn't hear about him after the 2016 season and wouldn't be heard until he drove for Kyle Busch Motorsports at Texas and won the race. He also completed in a couple of cup races and will drive for SRX this year

    Knowing that Carl Edwards is 43 years old, I can imagine him making one more start in the Cup or Xfinity Series. Kevin Harvick is 47 now and is still racing until his retirement in November.

    An article came out a few days ago about Bayne and apparently he had a sponsor that was going to land him a full time xfinity jgr ride for 2023, but they pulled out last minute. He was also offered a competitive ride in the truck series for this year but he declined because he thought the jgr deal was still on. He said he is racing with jgr for at least one race later this year and is still debating whether to go full time racing or stay the tv route due to his family

    To add to cousin carl, he was at Trackhouse to go on the Chevrolet Simulator and see if he could still be at pace with others. Results of it were never said, but it was Edwards himself who gave that info. That would be the best Project 91

    I think there was a few things that contributed to Carls exit. Tony broke him at homestead, Dale Jr's concussions and seeing other head injuries. Guy has a family and wanted to spend time with them. Doubtful he ever comes back. He absolutely loved dirt racing and never did that again either as far as all the reports go.

      Can't dismiss the multiple times he's been seemingly targeted by NASCAR / victim of NASCAR and their laughable rules and uneven enforcement of said rules. Plus his dislike of the direction NASCAR was going with things like stage racing.

    Marcos didn’t disappear. He came home to do V8 Supercars again, then disappeared, before taking a driver development role at GRM

    I’m surprised you didn’t mention David Reutimann, because he drove in NASCAR for a few years, won a few races, had some hard crashes at Watkins Glen and California and then promptly disappeared.

    Trevor Bayne said yesterday during the Portland broadcast that he was working on a full-time deal with Gibbs and a sponsorship deal fell through late and that he may race in select starts later this year.

    Also, Chip Ganassi offered the full time ride to Carl Edwards to replace Larson but Edwards said no after some thought.

    It was great seeing Carl Edwards in Darlington but I don’t think he may not have a high chance of racing again. Because he pretty old and probably won’t do his backflip

    You missed on Trevor Bayne. Sure, he disappeared from 2018-2020. But even right now he is a studio analyst for FOX during the races. I forget which series. But he is very much around and involved unlike the others.

    Trevor Bayne resides in eastern Tennessee and still makes appearances at Kubota dealerships when the Bristol races roll around. Not sure about his day to day life, but he’s still around

    Trevor had a full time ride set up with JGR in the 19 car Xfinity series. The sponsor dropped out at the last minute before beginning of the 2023 season. He is trying to get some rides with JGR before end of 2023.

    Does anyone remember Kyle Benjamin? In 2016 and 2017 he was battling for his career against Ryan Preece.

    After having run indoor karting for a couple of years and knowing how I felt when I was forced to quit and years in iRacing, I doubt if any of these drivers will ever comeback to racing. I follow Australian SuperCars and Marcos Ambrose commentating in Tasmania, where he lives, and said he was done with racing. I'm learning myself now as well when it's time to stop.

    Ambrose was was burnt out. When he came back to Supercars but struggled with feeling what the car was doing and the schedule too demanding.
    In 2015 he shut down all media accounts, disconnected from motorsport and hasn't been back to USA since he left in late 2014.
    He now runs a wilderness retreat in Tasmania and has only recently got back into motorsport to help create pathways for his daughters.

    I miss Carl Edwards, but I don't think there's anything that'll get him back in a NASCAR. I always assumed that after he retired he would go on to have a long a prestigious broadcasting career (he was so good at calling races!) but that sadly didn't happen

    Carl Edwards making an announcement that he'll enter a race again is one of the ultimate contingency plans NASCAR has in place for the rainiest of days. Akin to the military officer who approaches the retired soldier chopping wood at his cabin, asking him for one last favour.

    WE NEED CARL BACK! He gave NASCAR a fun twist and he always made finishes fun and exciting. Carl was my 3rd favorite on my list of NASCAR drivers and he should make a race return as a guest or for some races.

    Can't believe Gibbs, Penske, Hendrick, RFK don't sign him
    Probably cuz they know SHR will never let him go

    I know this video is about NASCAR, but Sam Hornish Jr.'s 2006 Indianapolis 500 finish (overtaking Marco Andretti on the final homestretch) was the most exciting I personally have seen in that race's celebrated history.

    Ambrose was in the 6 hrs of Bathurst driving a Mustang this year and well didnt end well ended joining the broadcast team for the remainder of the race also, he was leading till his retirement of the race

    I don't think Carl ever suits up for competition again. He seems to value both his mental health in addition to his physical health. Most of all, he values his family.

    Talk about Erik Darnell, he almost won the Truck Series championship in 2008 and run some Xfinity and Cup series races and after that dissapeared for a long time until he race back in 2021 for niece Motorsports.

    man Sam Hornish Jr. is from my home town and when I was a kid my family always talked about him in the races but when my brain wanted to work past 4 years old I never saw him and I never knew where he went but this video really helped me to know what he did after racing

    i 100% believe edwards will make a start in the cup series soon, but probably just a one and done kind of thing. I dont think he'll make multiple starts and he definitely wont be going full time again.

    I don’t think Carl Edwards will ever race in NASCAR again. I do think we may start to see him some as an announcer though, at least in trucks or xfinity. Not a full time announcer, but as a guest every so often.

    I don't know if Ryan Reed or Trevor Bayne will drive full time again since they do have health issues that cut their career short like the same with Matt Tiftt. Even Kelly Sutton can't race much either since she had MS. I do think them and Jerry Nadeau all could still be a spokesperson for NASCAR for a fight for a cure for all of their issues.

    Sam Hornish Jr. is simply one of the best American drivers ever. Whether it was stock cars or open wheel, he was extremely dominant and he would be great in the next gen car

      @Swine Brothers He only made 11 starts on Road Courses, he had an average finish of 9.8 on them compared to 7.6 on ovals for his career. You have to understand that it was a disadvantage because he spent the rest of his IRL days on exclusively ovals, so it was an adjustment compared to the CART guys
