So I want to put this out there about Hornish. I live local to him roughly a 30 minute drive and see him out and about either driving semi or running around town. I've had a few chances to talk to him and he's always super genuine. He would love an opportunity to race but he fears not being able to compete at the same levels as others. Like the article stated he wouldn't turn down a chance but he's not entirely sure it's for him still. I know I'd love to see him come back even for just one more.
I'll never forget his shining moment of glory winning the 2006 Indy 500 in such thrilling fashion. I've seen every one since 1995 (and some before that) and that remains my favorite.
Ryan Reed is actually still pretty invested in the sport. He works as a driver coach/manager for Jack Wood, who races for KBM in trucks, and REV Racing in Arca.
Marcos Ambrose is now a successful crew chief for a Trans Am team here in Australia and occasionally drives in random appearances here and there, he's still very much heavily involved in motorsport. Good bloke.
Carl Edwards retirement shocked everyone. He left the sport under really strange circumstances. I would love Carl Edwards to come back to NASCAR even if it’s on a part time basis.
An article came out a few days ago about Bayne and apparently he had a sponsor that was going to land him a full time xfinity jgr ride for 2023, but they pulled out last minute. He was also offered a competitive ride in the truck series for this year but he declined because he thought the jgr deal was still on. He said he is racing with jgr for at least one race later this year and is still debating whether to go full time racing or stay the tv route due to his family
Forgot to mention Greg Biffle. Didn't hear about him after the 2016 season and wouldn't be heard until he drove for Kyle Busch Motorsports at Texas and won the race. He also completed in a couple of cup races and will drive for SRX this year
Trevor actually said he was going to be full time at jgr this year but they lost the sponsor last minute He is still gonna run a couple races for them later this year apparently
To add to cousin carl, he was at Trackhouse to go on the Chevrolet Simulator and see if he could still be at pace with others. Results of it were never said, but it was Edwards himself who gave that info. That would be the best Project 91
I remember Carl Edwards was rumored as a candidate to take over the 42 when Larson was suspended in 2020 but turned it down, leading Ganassi to ask Kenseth instead.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention David Reutimann, because he drove in NASCAR for a few years, won a few races, had some hard crashes at Watkins Glen and California and then promptly disappeared.
I think there was a few things that contributed to Carls exit. Tony broke him at homestead, Dale Jr's concussions and seeing other head injuries. Guy has a family and wanted to spend time with them. Doubtful he ever comes back. He absolutely loved dirt racing and never did that again either as far as all the reports go.
Can't dismiss the multiple times he's been seemingly targeted by NASCAR / victim of NASCAR and their laughable rules and uneven enforcement of said rules. Plus his dislike of the direction NASCAR was going with things like stage racing.
Trevor Bayne said yesterday during the Portland broadcast that he was working on a full-time deal with Gibbs and a sponsorship deal fell through late and that he may race in select starts later this year.
Trevor had a full time ride set up with JGR in the 19 car Xfinity series. The sponsor dropped out at the last minute before beginning of the 2023 season. He is trying to get some rides with JGR before end of 2023.
Trevor Bayne resides in eastern Tennessee and still makes appearances at Kubota dealerships when the Bristol races roll around. Not sure about his day to day life, but he’s still around
After having run indoor karting for a couple of years and knowing how I felt when I was forced to quit and years in iRacing, I doubt if any of these drivers will ever comeback to racing. I follow Australian SuperCars and Marcos Ambrose commentating in Tasmania, where he lives, and said he was done with racing. I'm learning myself now as well when it's time to stop.
It was great seeing Carl Edwards in Darlington but I don’t think he may not have a high chance of racing again. Because he pretty old and probably won’t do his backflip
Does anyone remember Kyle Benjamin? In 2016 and 2017 he was battling for his career against Ryan Preece. Here’s some more who disappeared: Cole Whitt, Reed Sorenson, Brian Scott, Brian Vickers, David Stremme, David Reutimann, Travis Kvapil
You forgot to mention when Carl did a little cameo in a vid for David Ragan's retirement I only remember it cuz for some reason he did his part in a grocery store
Ambrose was was burnt out. When he came back to Supercars but struggled with feeling what the car was doing and the schedule too demanding. In 2015 he shut down all media accounts, disconnected from motorsport and hasn't been back to USA since he left in late 2014. He now runs a wilderness retreat in Tasmania and has only recently got back into motorsport to help create pathways for his daughters.
You missed on Trevor Bayne. Sure, he disappeared from 2018-2020. But even right now he is a studio analyst for FOX during the races. I forget which series. But he is very much around and involved unlike the others.
I never was a full on Edwards fan but I would absolutely love to see him back in a race. He was one to always look out for on the track and never disappointed
As a friend of the edwards family we were told that if carl got another concussion it would likely cause brain damage or possible even kill him. He hit his badly in his last race and walked to the infield care center to try and give himself time to recovery before being seen by the doctor. Carl is such a nice guy though
Carl Edwards making an announcement that he'll enter a race again is one of the ultimate contingency plans NASCAR has in place for the rainiest of days. Akin to the military officer who approaches the retired soldier chopping wood at his cabin, asking him for one last favour.
I know this video is about NASCAR, but Sam Hornish Jr.'s 2006 Indianapolis 500 finish (overtaking Marco Andretti on the final homestretch) was the most exciting I personally have seen in that race's celebrated history.
Just to update, Ryan Reed got some starts in 2024 with McAnally Hingleman in the 91. He finished 7th and Talladega and 20th in a cup race at Vegas in 2023
Talk about Erik Darnell, he almost won the Truck Series championship in 2008 and run some Xfinity and Cup series races and after that dissapeared for a long time until he race back in 2021 for niece Motorsports.
Ambrose was in the 6 hrs of Bathurst driving a Mustang this year and well didnt end well ended joining the broadcast team for the remainder of the race also, he was leading till his retirement of the race
man Sam Hornish Jr. is from my home town and when I was a kid my family always talked about him in the races but when my brain wanted to work past 4 years old I never saw him and I never knew where he went but this video really helped me to know what he did after racing
I miss Carl Edwards, but I don't think there's anything that'll get him back in a NASCAR. I always assumed that after he retired he would go on to have a long a prestigious broadcasting career (he was so good at calling races!) but that sadly didn't happen
WE NEED CARL BACK! He gave NASCAR a fun twist and he always made finishes fun and exciting. Carl was my 3rd favorite on my list of NASCAR drivers and he should make a race return as a guest or for some races.
Lost my wife 2 years ago and I want to know so bad what she went thru. Its like my other half is on the other side of the door and I'm begging to get on the other side and talk to her. I hope the vibration thing is true because she would be in the highest level, she was the most selfless person I've ever met. ❤️
There’s one huge glaring omission from this video. When’s the last time the best in a sport walked away in dramatic fashion like happened in nascar a couple decades ago? I know the story, but it ain’t over……….
I don't think Carl ever suits up for competition again. He seems to value both his mental health in addition to his physical health. Most of all, he values his family.
When I was 9 I cut my artery on accident… in the icu of children’s healthcare of Atlanta carl Edward’s met me with make a wish when he was with Aflac I’m forever grateful and hope one day I can meet him again
Trevor is on with Dave Moody every Tuesday now, as of yesterday he actually said he still wants to go racing. Seems like he's still trying to find sponsorship / a ride
Ryan preece will never disappear He is so good Look at his career CUP stats...phenomenal Can't believe Gibbs, Penske, Hendrick, RFK don't sign him Probably cuz they know SHR will never let him go Builds his own cars/motors/tranny's from the ground up Great road racer Haas will put him in a Formula One car soon The guy is amazing check his career CUP stats, you will shit your pants when you see his stats 💪
This is how you know Nascar is is the toilet. It isnt the drivers, theres no popularity, no sponsorship, no money. Why would anyone want to do this if they not getting anything except hurt lol
i 100% believe edwards will make a start in the cup series soon, but probably just a one and done kind of thing. I dont think he'll make multiple starts and he definitely wont be going full time again.

I would absolutely love nothing more than if Edwards returned in a 23XI ride. He was always fun to watch.
23xi or rwr. Since he raced for (not called) rfk, and also raced for jgr.
Same dude he was my favorite been watching him ever sense I’ve been into Nascar when I was like 8 and I’m 16 now he’s still one of my favorites
Screw Carl.
@@alawalter918 salty 👾
Actually it was Travis pastrana in the cap in 23xi
I miss Marcos Ambrose so much in NASCAR. Hard to believe it's almost been 10 years since we last seen him.
crazy long time
@@RawGator He returned to V8 Supercar in Australia in 2015. Cause he was a champion in his old racing routes.
He wanted his kids to grow up in Australia. Works at Gary rogers motorsport. His daughter is coming up through the ranks.
He raced in Indycar series for a bit too, right? Some dude that looked like him with his name did anyway.
@@Lewis_tWill Power?

SRX
Sam Hornish was robbed at homestead. He'll always be a champion in my eyes. Nascar bamboozled Sam in "favor" of Austin Dillon. Total BS!
Trevor Bayne was sadly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis short after his win, but the guy is still around and racing, so much respect for him
And Roush's cup operations were absolute garbage during the 2010s
how sad
Ryan Reed is actually still pretty invested in the sport. He works as a driver coach/manager for Jack Wood, who races for KBM in trucks, and REV Racing in Arca.
Ah so that is why Jack Wood is not very good
Marcos Ambrose is now a successful crew chief for a Trans Am team here in Australia and occasionally drives in random appearances here and there, he's still very much heavily involved in motorsport. Good bloke.
Carl Edwards retirement shocked everyone. He left the sport under really strange circumstances. I would love Carl Edwards to come back to NASCAR even if it’s on a part time basis.
have you ever seen his video talk with kenny wallace
Blame the playoffs
Ambrose did actually make a one off racing comeback this year in the Bathurst 6 Hour and he led some of the race until his gearbox failed.
Are u sure because I will go back and look at that race
I was so happy seeing Carl Edwards at Darlington and I don’t doubt that he will race again.
SAME DUDE

There were stories of Carl Edwards visiting Trackhouse Racing, who currently runs his old #99 in honor of him...
Forgot to mention Greg Biffle. Didn't hear about him after the 2016 season and wouldn't be heard until he drove for Kyle Busch Motorsports at Texas and won the race. He also completed in a couple of cup races and will drive for SRX this year
Heck yes Carl Edwards should race again! Also, could you do a video on greatest moments where drivers lost their temper?
Trevor actually said he was going to be full time at jgr this year but they lost the sponsor last minute
He is still gonna run a couple races for them later this year apparently
To add to cousin carl, he was at Trackhouse to go on the Chevrolet Simulator and see if he could still be at pace with others. Results of it were never said, but it was Edwards himself who gave that info. That would be the best Project 91

I’m surprised you didn’t mention David Reutimann, because he drove in NASCAR for a few years, won a few races, had some hard crashes at Watkins Glen and California and then promptly disappeared.
He runs his own dirt modified team part time to this day I believe
I think there was a few things that contributed to Carls exit. Tony broke him at homestead, Dale Jr's concussions and seeing other head injuries. Guy has a family and wanted to spend time with them. Doubtful he ever comes back. He absolutely loved dirt racing and never did that again either as far as all the reports go.
Can't dismiss the multiple times he's been seemingly targeted by NASCAR / victim of NASCAR and their laughable rules and uneven enforcement of said rules. Plus his dislike of the direction NASCAR was going with things like stage racing.
Marcos didn’t disappear. He came home to do V8 Supercars again, then disappeared, before taking a driver development role at GRM
It’s nice to see how Marcos Ambrose now lives a nice life my favourite driver maybe retired but still loves racing.
Trevor Bayne said yesterday during the Portland broadcast that he was working on a full-time deal with Gibbs and a sponsorship deal fell through late and that he may race in select starts later this year.
I could see Edwards doing a few Xfinity races for JGR and maybe attempt a Daytona 500 for 23XI
Another awesome return from RawGator. Cool video!
Also, Chip Ganassi offered the full time ride to Carl Edwards to replace Larson but Edwards said no after some thought.
I'm surprised Boris Said wasn't mentioned. That chia pet was a hoot.
Ambrose gave us the best finish of all time in 2012.
Missing drivers: James buescher, John king, cale gale and landon cassil
Landon is a name i haven't heard for a while
I miss Ryan Reed, underrated driver
That’s wild
It was great seeing Carl Edwards in Darlington but I don’t think he may not have a high chance of racing again. Because he pretty old and probably won’t do his backflip
Does anyone remember Kyle Benjamin? In 2016 and 2017 he was battling for his career against Ryan Preece.
Here’s some more who disappeared:
Cole Whitt, Reed Sorenson, Brian Scott, Brian Vickers, David Stremme, David Reutimann, Travis Kvapil
doesnt reutimann and stremme run ump mods nowadays?
Reed is a spotter and last raced in cup in 2020.
Brian Vickers is married to a woman who had very close ties to Jeffrey Epstein
You forgot to mention when Carl did a little cameo in a vid for David Ragan's retirement I only remember it cuz for some reason he did his part in a grocery store
thank you for making this i miss cousin carl. the weirdest thing is playing old games like nascar 15 and seeing everybody thats gone
Ambrose was was burnt out. When he came back to Supercars but struggled with feeling what the car was doing and the schedule too demanding.

Trevor Bayne was supposed to go full-time with JGR in 2023 but the sponsor fell through. He's expected to do at least 1 start this year
Dingle dangle dongle, bingo bango bongo. I think Carlo Edwards will be the 2026 Winston Vape Cup Series Grand Champion

Ambrose was in the 6 hrs of Bathurst driving a Mustang this year and well didnt end well ended joining the broadcast team for the remainder of the race also, he was leading till his retirement of the race
If I was a Nascar fan in 2008-2016 Carl Edwards would be my favorite driver

man Sam Hornish Jr. is from my home town and when I was a kid my family always talked about him in the races but when my brain wanted to work past 4 years old I never saw him and I never knew where he went but this video really helped me to know what he did after racing
When Edwards went back and reviewed the 2016 Championship. He knew there was no need to throw a caution.
He was done.
Carl Edwards didn’t completely disappear he returned to commentate and named 75 greatest driver
Carl Edwards doing a backflip off a 23XI race car would be cool to see
Shelby Howard is an honorable mention.
Finally posted
There is definitely a possibility that Carl Edwards could return to racing as we see plenty of opportunities come up
Other Names will be Ray Black Jr, Reed Sorenson, Travis Kvapil, Casey Mears
Trevor Bayne’s BACK! I’m pretty sure he ran at Texas or Kansas or something. I don’t remember which race, but sometime around then.

Trevor Bayne literally was in the booth for Xfinity race this weekend
Good one mate! Edwards is really missed, he was a championship quality racer. Hopefully he could make the comeback.
Trevor Bayne still does NASCAR RaceHub every week, plus Truck pre-race.
4:37 Ryan Reed returns at Vegas! :D
Lilly had a billboard at Charlotte this weekend if you pay close attention
Isn't Bayne still doing TV work for Fox Sports?
Yep, FS1's Nascar Race Hub
Bayne has officially ran his 3 race deal for JGR in their #19 Xfinity car!
I didn’t even notice biffle wasn’t racing until the middle of the 500 in 2017
i could have told you where Marcus Ambrose went, i lived in his home state in Australia. He isnt very far out of Hobart Tasmania.
The meme lord and the goat has returned
I've been to Trevor Bayne's coffee shop in Knoxville. Sadly, he wasn't there, but the coffee and pastries were delicious.
Trevor is on with Dave Moody every Tuesday now, as of yesterday he actually said he still wants to go racing. Seems like he's still trying to find sponsorship / a ride
I even heard rumors that Edwards was going to run for senate
NASCAR stoops to an all-time low when diabetes itself, became a sponsor.
Trevor Bayne had a full time NXS schedule lined up this season for JGR until he got screwed over by a sponsor pulling out at the last minute!
I can see carl running a few truck series/xfinity series races kinda like jr does, but i dont see him competing in cup anymore
Update on bayne:He joined legacy motorclub as a simulator trainer or some role
Casey Atwood - Buckshot Jones - David Reuitiman
Ryan preece will never disappear
He is so good
Look at his career CUP stats...phenomenal
Can't believe Gibbs, Penske, Hendrick, RFK don't sign him
Probably cuz they know SHR will never let him go
Builds his own cars/motors/tranny's from the ground up
Great road racer
Haas will put him in a Formula One car soon
The guy is amazing check his career CUP stats, you will shit your pants when you see his stats 💪

This is how you know Nascar is is the toilet. It isnt the drivers, theres no popularity, no sponsorship, no money. Why would anyone want to do this if they not getting anything except hurt lol
Trackhouse actually asked Carl Edwards if they could use the 99
Trevor Bayne is on SXM with Moody every Tuesday as a recurring co-host
My brother was a diehard Edwards fan he even shook his hand at Michigan one time
i 100% believe edwards will make a start in the cup series soon, but probably just a one and done kind of thing. I dont think he'll make multiple starts and he definitely wont be going full time again.
