The cops didn’t take me seriously about the mental abuse until it became physical and even then I couldn’t press charges because I’d get kicked out because she waited until I was an adult still relying on her. Adults don’t want to listen, they think we’re just stupid kids who just hate our parents because they grounded us or whatever, no matter how bad.

I disagree. She lashed out at the cops first. I understand she wanted to be taken away, but verbally abusing the cops who were simply trying to understand what was happening makes her the bad guy rather than her parents, no matter what she says

I get your point, bht i also think some things are wrong. Yes she handled the situation wrong, but what did you expect her to do? She only twelve, and has the mind of a child, plus she clearly has trust issues with the police. And in my opinion she isnt worse than her parents. Her parents allow her to drink with old men and go ojt partying. Its completly their fault she keeps getting out the house. Like if your child sneaks out keep a closer watch on them so it doesn’t happen again, but they didn’t do that.

Yeah they would. Kids in stable homes still like to act out and do stuff because they know they won’t get in much trouble for it. Kids whose parents gentle parent them get in lots of trouble. It happens more often than you think. And they get away with it because yall always think it’s the parent’s fault or it’s a cry for help. Nah they just like to think they grown and don’t want to listen to their parents and throw tantrums when they don’t get their way.

@@---iz6qt Gentle parenting and passive parenting are different, I think you meant passive lol. Obviously we don't know their family situation from this very video, but from the way the mother was speaking and the way the daughter was talking about the mother, there's most likely something going. Her parents may not be outright (physically) abusive, but there's other types of abuse. Emotional, Verbal etc. As someone who grew up in a stable home with barely strict parents (as I was the youngest, and my parents were tired all the time), I never thought of acting out like this. I've had my ups and downs but not to this extent. I know people who grew up with gentle parents. They didn't end up like that. Not every situation is the same, but hers seems like a cry for help more than a child acting out. It's a shame she was tipsy and couldn't communicate properly.

@@yy_yqI'm honestly with both of you here, mostly in your side tbh but doesn't matter, I just think both of you have valid points as each case can be so different from each other just by the kid's personality itself, without even counting the parents themselves yet, but here is a little reminder of something that you didn't include in your own known experiences because they probably didn't happen or the people you know of didn't fall to:
*There were teenagers, and APPARENTLY adults, too, involved in the 12 yo reunion/party or whatever, and even alcohol to top it off, just such a bad and sad combo...
The parents might seem potentially abusive from your point of view, and something definitely feels weird about it all for me too, but they could also just be strict or not so good at being strict/parenting on itself, and the girl could have made it a bigger problem than it actually was because of her mother's boyfriend being around and the people that she talks to being a big influence, or... Tbh there are so many possible scenarios that it would be absurd to keep talking about them, just wanted to add the part about the third party that, apparently, was casually giving alcohol to kids and how that could have affected the experiences that you know of too...
For how little I know, my best guess would be a combination of all the bad things with variable grades, like a mother with a bad tongue whenever she has her boyfriend with her and a boyfriend that doesn't help OR is the one to start the sparks to begin with, REALLY bad or concerning "friends" (they're around 16 yo while she is 12... They might want to help, but that's a weird way to do so) and most likely weird adults around :(

There is clearly something happening beneath the surface that other people aren’t seeing, including the police. If you’re angry at your child that doesn’t give you any right to harm them. As a parent you’re supposed to guide them away from that. If you’re angry at an adult and you resort to physical violence, that is obviously physical abuse. It isn’t any different for children. Both are physical abuse. Taking away a child’s phone is reasonable, I don’t think anyone’s ever said that taking away a child’s phone makes you a horrible parent unless you have malicious intent. Instead people encourage parents to take electronic devices away from children to allow them to grow and be more in contact with the world around them. Before talking on topics like these educate yourself because it’s infuriating to see someone come up into comments talking about verbal and physical abuse without knowing little to nothing about it.

the way everyone treated the first kid's situation is not funny, like anyone with basic empathy would be able to recognise that she needed help. the way the cops handled it was disgusting. she's obviously acting erratic because it's a plea for help. the things she repeats too, "you guys never understand", "cops dont do shit", this is the fifth time and you only need to listen once", "i go to jail but steven doesn't go to jail"? doesn't everyone understand that this is a child, who's trying her hardest to communicate in a space where she's not being allowed to be vulnerable. ofc she would react with hostility given her circumstances. the way the chat acted and kenji acted really disturbed me as well, simply because cultures and brown or asian households are different doesn't mean the way we are treated is right, and doesn't make a kid sensitive because they "make a fuss about it" when given the same treatment

" well as a black person.. I would never do that to MY loving and caring mother because she would beat my ass "
well yeah, she is probably being abused (at least verbally) at home and clearly has trust issues with the cops. It's ridiculous tbh. It's like me comparing myself to an abuse victim. Yeah, the abuse victim might've yelled at their mom, but that's because their mom is abusive and manipulative. My mother isn't, so I wouldn't yell at her like that. It's a no brainer...

@@cookiegames8464the issue of the whole situation is that she was acting big and bad the whole time and the situation is already twisted and turned on its head. Yeah, the cops handled it poorly, they didn’t need to do half the things they did, but what empathy are they meant to have to a petulant child screaming accusations and fighting them at every step? It’s two sides to everything, the red flags of abuse but also a frequently violent child in another violent situation, acting out of frustration and disrespect. Tbh i wonder from how she reacted to the cops and having a prior if she had a bad experience with cops or men in general before especially with how she reacted to being manhandled. Literally in the juvenile system, the identity of the minors is supposed to be hidden. So idk how these people (the videos) got the information or footage. Even then, it should be against the law to reveal the identity of children when it comes to them getting arrested.

    • @spiderleamer
      @spiderleamer 4 месяца назад +12

@SamieSleepy I think it might vary on state laws but you can pretty much request the footage of any crime from police stations with a fee and post it as like, "reporting". • @Carl_Is_Tired

@@spiderleamer that's stupid, they are exposing children and ruining their lives. The twelve year old one is really sad to see. I'm also not surprised to see how shitty the police handled it - that is uncommon with situations like that. I once knew someone who had a bad home life due to many things, but one I heard about a lot was their mother's boyfriend and they were also like this. Turning to drinking, partying, getting in trouble with the police. Obviously a place like that isn't good for kids, you get a shit load of trauma from those scenes, but for that child, those place can feel like an escape for a short while.
I also wanna add on that it really sucks to see how Kenji has reacted to that video. I'm happy that some people in these comments are talking about it though. Abuse is serious - yes this also includes verbal abuse.

I agree that a lot of times parents don’t raise their kids right. But that’s not always the case, I’ve been around kids who had parents that cared for them, loved them, always made sure that they were ok, cared about their mental health and was just overall loved their kids and were amazing parents and those same kids were always getting in trouble and being sent to the principal office , or smoking and drinking even though we were 14-15 at the time. Majority of the time kids can have amazing parents and still act out and do stupid shit. And the parents will discipline them in the safest way and by safe I mean like not physically hitting them or calling them names and making them feel horrible. And tbh parents can get fed up too. We don’t know everyone’s stories so let’s not be so quick to judge the parents in this video, and automatically think they’re just horrible. Some kids just like and want to grow up faster because they think they’re grown and think they’re cool. Children ages 12 and up know what they’re doing, they’re not stupid, let’s recognize that because it seems like people don’t. A lot of times no matter how good you are to your kids, some still will act out and do stupid shit. We can’t always blame the parents. So I don’t fully agree that parents are always the problem, because truly they aren’t.

I love Kenji, and I'll still watch his stuff, but the first clip genuinely aggravated me man. Coming from someone whose still in a toxic amd abusive home, that kid lashing out in the first clip was basically 1-1 with how I felt when I called the cops on my parents, age and all. My mom's boyfriend had literally threatened to kill me because I'm gay, yet when I tried to explain it to the cops, they weren't listening and weren't giving me the space needed to actually talk about the issue, especially because of the pressure of my parents being right there. Kenji talking down to the kid in regards to the situation is genuinely disgusting to me. It's such a spit in the face to my situation. Whenever kids tell you these things are happening, listen to them. They lash out because they're children in dangerous situations. They're not gonna be calm, they're KIDS. And when Kenji told that commenter who was sharing their experience to shut up? Straight up pissed me off. Don't tell someone to shut up because they're trying to empathize with someone, especially when it's a serious topic like potential CA, calling it "projecting." Like Kenji. That's still a real person who went through that. They're not projecting, they're using their experiences to relate to them. So disrespectful for no reason. I understand being extra/dickish is Kenji's schtick, so I can't be too mad, but if there was any moment for him to cut the gimmick and take it seriously, it was there.

If I had kids I’d never call the law on them unless it’s very serious. Id get them help and not ban them from home. That’s crazy. The girl clearly needs help not jail.

  • @mysryuza

The first situation, everyone fucked up in some way. Cop didn’t listen, the parent and bf are assholes, and the kid was being a bitch (understandably imo, but got some points wrong) and didn’t comply with the police.
Here’s the thing about kids: Kids scream, kick, and throw tantrums, but this is a 12 year-old, not 5 where a 5 year-old still has yet to understand right and wrong, and just because kids do all that doesn’t mean it’s okay to do that or “supposed” to, especially towards a cop. The mom is a douchebag and didn’t help her situation with abuse. The whole household is fucked up and the kid’s behavior was a cry for help that wasn’t taken seriously. At least that girl had a reason to lash out compared to the third person

I'm not gonna personally blame her for lashing out because abuse can have very interesting effects on the brain and how children develop. It's already very hard to manage emotions at that age, so when you add in her upbringing and a possibly untreated mental illness, it just makes sense to me. I agree that normally developed 12 year olds shouldn't act like this and it's not okay, but she wasn't given a real chance to be normal yk? Abuse can drive you crazy, especially as a child

The trans guy, i dont think the police properly explained why they were there to the kid. Kid is obviously scared, police did not witness the fights and were only told what happened.
They didnt explain to the kid why. If they did then the kid would realize the consequences of their actions is grounds for an arrest. But the kid did not like he was not asked what has happened and probably felt wronged and made a huge fit.

a lot of them look like they have undiagnosed shit and lashing out because of the parents so i'm glad kenji said as much. idk i don't like seeing them get manhandled while the cops listening to the parents just because the kids don't know how to deal things in healthy ways. those cops were wrong for telling literal teens to "act like an adult."

The first kid, the 12yr old, I’m not saying this is 100% her situation, but I’ve seen it mannyyyy times where the kid just wants their parent, even if they aren’t worth it. And when they can’t have that, or have any contact w the parent they lash out because of the emotional strain of that relationship. Desperate kids will do anything to be with who they think is fit. I have many family members, unfortunately, who have gone thru the same thing and it always has the same pattern of them believing they know who’s best to care for them, it’s just a phase of feeling unwanted.

The third case didn't really go into it, but that girl has some mental health issues after being in the foster care system for a while... Her case worker; that she kept trying to ask for (in the original video), is the closest thing to a mom for her.
So yeah, she was ridiculous but I have a bit of sympathy...

Also most of the time kids hate their stepdads because they’re not their real dads. And they think since you’re not my real dad I don’t have to like you and don’t have to respect them. Who knows the stepdad could’ve been doing something, or she could just not like him just because her mom is dating him and it’s not her dad. So once again let’s not assume. Assuming gets you nowhere and a lot of times gets the wrong people in trouble.

When the 12 year old said “ow my nail!” I felt that pain from my core. But also her actions (not hitting the car or underage drinking, even though there was reason for it) may have been justified. I never had a step dad but when my mom started dating a guy, and the first time I met him was why he just showed up at our house. I know meeting at a house sounds normal, but someone’s house is their personal space. Especially to a child. So if someone just came in and was like “guess what I’m part of the family now” I feel like almost anyone would be a bit pissed. That’s what I’m getting happened by the way she described it.

I do have a stepdad and I can confirm that’s what it is like (I’m 12 like the girl so I understand her) my mom made sure I was comfortable with him at first like bringing him to family dinners but after 2 maybe 3 years he’s starting to get comfortable and me and my older brother hate him now at first he was okay we didn’t mind he until he started feeling too at home like he would comment on my body saying things like “when you get older you’ll have breast like (insert random lady on street with big breast) her” and it’s really uncomfortable and by the time I was building up confidence to tell my mom I was uncomfortable he started doing it in front of her and that completely broke the confidence I built On top of the fact that one day I was getting a physical check up and they gave me for the first time one of those papers that ask like how you are and I got to a question on suicide and my mom got all mad and literally not even a month later she got pregnant (miscarriage) so I really am trying to be dependent and distance myself from her and my stepdad now no matter how much I hang out with her
