As a black guy with long hair, I brush my hair back, wrap it flat with a large satin Square headscarf, and use the excess material of the scarf to wrap my ends. I twist the satin material gently until it covers the shaft and ends of my hair and secure it with a hairtie. This way I can move, roll, toss, & turn yet NOTHING moves. My hair stays covered 100% during the entire night, I can even wake up shake my straightened hair & go without brushing because it was wrapped the night before after detangling it (& it stayed in the same exact position I wrapped it in all night). I like seeing what people from other races or ethnicities do with their hair, it's a real nice way to learn fundemental things about eachother.
same i never ever cut my hair short in my whole life, only trims. the biggest amount of hair that i cut was 2 inches, but my hair was hip length and now its even longer. im so so excited to grow it more and take more care of it
My hair isn't as long as this, but my boyfriend pins me down in his sleep by sleeping on my hair. Just wondering: don't the big clips hurt when you sleep?
Braiding is the best way to minimize damage to your hair while sleeping, but two braids are better if you've heavy hair. Single braid might cause headache.
But when i turn at night i sleep on my braid- you dont move your braid during sleepu know what i mean? Just wondering how do u all do it? And if i keep my hair up in a bun my scalp hurts in the morning
@@katayasymphony8863 A silk bonnet sounds like a good idea in this case, hair won't move against each other because of braids, and won't move against other things thanks to the bonnet.
I've been doing twist up bun with extra large round clip which doesn't pinch or disturb my sleep!!! I'm Choctaw/Black/Irish background and this keeps my hair crinkle-free. Also, rosemary/mint oil for dryness/frizz control. Love your tips, as I am honoring my grandmother, and helping my hair grow longer than waist length!!! Thanx!!!
Girl, with hair down to my thighs, I felt this tutorial. I have been getting a lot of breakages and I am seeing a bit of thinning so I have been doing pig tails for a few weeks now and I found a new hair treatment, fingers are crossed it helps my long, long, ridiculously long hair thicken back up!!! Thanks for the video, your hair is beautiful!!!
YAAAS QUEEN. My hair is this long but thicker and curlier. Mine is an issue cause the curls can get knotted and my hair so long it's a really big issue if it's not in a style. I do the plait regularly. I've got one i kinda Frankenstein created from the head band curls. So instead of wrapping it like you would for curls. Put the head band low around your neck. Then proceed to seperate your hair into four parts. Each part wrap around the band and do it all around the head and then raise the head band up from your neck to the top of your head where a head band would normally sit. It will give you an early 1800s pompador look , but for me it protects my thick long hair and if it slides off the cool thing is it stays wrapped generally until you actually take it off properly. I normally just do it every night. If your hair is damp use a it'll create fantastic curls. Mine curls even dry. Give It a try ladies! Awesome hair awesome channel!
I sleep like a wild animal. I've tried so many methods to keep my hair from being damaged but I hate the crinkles braids give and I hate the way sleeping in a bun feels. Either way I will end up using heat the next morning because my hair gets matted and frizzy because I sweat like a hog in summer in bed.
Try dark and lovely dentangular cream or any leave in conditioner in the morning to prevent breakage matted and tangled hair after braids or sleep. use a wide tooth comb, brush gently. I never use heat tools! I currently have 25in hair I grew from a bob three years ago .these types of products saved my hair from dryness and breakage. Definitely keep your hair protected at night if you love it. I use dark n lovely tention tamer on my scalp to keep it from drying or inflammation..very soothing and jojoba oil. I recommend these to all hair types that might have autoimmune disorders or other causes of drying. Hair life savers!!!!
I m a Asian guy growing his hair long. I like bundling it up too and wearing a satin/silk lined hat. The twisty method into a bun looks good too, I'll try it. I think maybe a hair stick like how we see alot of old Asian styles might be quickest, I'll have to see if it also provides least amount of hair wrinkle/curl.
@@jessicahorne6496 I bought 2 types off of Amazon, both silk/satin, likely satin heh. It seems though, because I also use satin pillow cases, I prefer the loose beanie with the satin lining, it has a cinching elastic to make it tighter and stay on my head, but the outer part is still cloth. Satin on satin makes my head slip on the pillow too much :) I hope this helps!
Yup, I do all of these! Haha. If my hair's already in some sort of braids like Dutch or French braids I'll leave them in and take it them out in the morning. You have beautiful hair, love your videos!
This is helpful because I can’t find any hairstyles as my hair is very long and it’s hard to find hair styles for it I guess it can be hard to but I love my long hair ❤️
I can relate to this video so much! I usually drape my hair between our bed and wall (no head board), which works fine if I don't toss n turn in my sleep. I was looking for ways to put it up when I found your video. No ladies in my family have straight hair (let alone past the butt) so I didn't have anyone to ask in person! ❤️
You kinda look like Jane from Jane the Virgin 😍 so pretty & that haiiirrr??!!!! So long, luscious and healthy 😩😍 gotta be honest it‘s really hard to not get jealous 😅
I had been putting my hair up in a bun with a scrunchie - loosely - but it caused my delicate underside hair to start breaking so I stopped. I’m going to get a silk head scarf/bonnet.
Awesome thank you! I’m growing my hair to get back to my roots and in remembrance/honor of our children ancestors who were harmed at residential and boarding schools
This is a life saver. My girlfriend prefers my hair longer so I am now desperately trying to keep my hair healthy. I'm super tender headed so this helps without pain.
Wow you are so authentic and real, and the words you speak are magic. Thank you for the soothing moment! Wishing you a blessed New Year 💞🥰❤️ Come by and say hello one of these days, I'd love to show you our latest 😊❤️
Are you native? You’re so pretty! My hair isn’t long enough to do the first styles but I do the last one most of the time lol. I’m slowly trying to reconnect to my indigenous mexican roots and taking care of my hair has become a part of that journey. I clicked on your video because you looked indigenous to me lol 💛
My hair's a little longer than yours. I definitely get tangled and trapped in it if I dont wrap it up. The twisting works well for me too, but I don't use clips (ouch). I like your vid :)
By any chance are you able to provide one on one advice for someone with long hair that is in desperate need of tips and guidance? I’ve been hoping to find someone I can have a back and forth conversation with about the current condition of my hair. Thanks either way!
Same! I have super thick and long hair! I can not for the life of me take care of it no matter how hard or what products I use! It always ends up in a tangled mess! It’s a joke trying to brush it out after a shower too (I don’t own a blow dryer) so I usually throw it up in a tight bun at night without brushing and it’s in an even more tangled mess in the morning, it also takes my hair about a day and a half to fully dry and that’s leaving it down or up! I need desperate help bad! I’m tired of only having one hair style and not being able to even manage that 😭 ~Tiffanee
Ok. So when I try and put my braid on the top like that, or a ponytail like that or something, my whole hair gets SOOOOOO frizzy. It's dry and knotty on the back.. what do i do?
this happens all the time as well. try to get a silk pillow case or a silk/satin cap. if your hair is super long, turn it into a braid on the side. put some hair moisturizer on the back of your head, and comb it well before you sleep. if its super frizzy in thr back it means your rubbing it on your pillow too much which causes lots of breakage. make sure ur pillow isnt too chunky and huge, use silk/satin covers or a cap, and even if you move lots before you sleep try and fall asleep on your side or on your stomach. if it doesnt matter that much/if u dont have a headboard, try and rest your head on the feet/bottom area of your bed at let your hair hang off. also, try and use a hair mask
Make sure you use a natural oil, & /or natural leave in condioner daily, and prior to bedtime. I fight my wild-ass frizzies like this and twist up bun. Use extra large round clip, twist all your hair NOT TOO TIGHT, and I hope this helps you, bcs you sound like your hair is like mine!!!!!!!
How in the hell do you do the twisted bun? Every time I trust my hair to do it and bring it up to out in a bun, the rest of my hair close it my scalp falls. I literally can’t do any of the hairstyles in this video
i do this bun almost every single day, if you have short hair it might not work, but pretty much grab it like you’re gonna do a pony tail and then twist it all and wrap it around
I struggle with the upside down styles, too. My hair is very particular about hanging down (like right-side-up down), so when I flip it upside down, I have to spend about 15 minutes brushing it so there's not a 90 swerve the first 4 inches of each strand. I've pretty given up and just laugh about it.
The twisted bun always leaves weird kinks in my hair, i tend to do two lose dutch braids so then when i take it out the next moring the waves in my hair are consistent
You probably will never see this but if you do how can you keep your industrial piecing from getting caught? I have long hair and ugh hurts so much when I’m just dealing with my hair
Hi, I have no idea how my industrial piercing didn't get caught! I just now took it out because of my dog! 😭 I miss it. But maybe just keep your hair behind your ear, I have no idea how it never got caught.
my hair is also to my waist and thick, can you help? Its super heavy every time I put it up in a bun, it gives me a headache! :( is there anything you find the most comfortable for sleep? I've got neck issues and the side braid kinda hurts me, the bun is super heavy on my head. I'm not sure how to wear it and even though I would never cut it, sometimes I really feel like it!! its just so heavy!! :(
I personally don't have thick hair ( although it might look thick in the videos) but if I did have thick hair I would personally leave it down (behind me or over the pillow like in the video). Or I would put it in a low bun. I hope that helps 😊💕
I would suggest wearing it down more often too. I also don't cut my hair either. For me I like to either do super low buns in the back or buns on the top. If the buns are in the middle back (if that makes sense) I feel like they pull more. Hope that helps.
