@@sewbizgirl saw Brian and Al live around the same time this comment was made and I couldn't believe how good he still sounded! Help Me Rhonda in particular...
It gives me chills to listen to the stripped-down vocal on these tracks. This is a really, really great record. The more I listen to it in its totality, the more it makes me think of dissolution of a relationship or marriage. There are very intimate, personal lyrics here that set this apart from their other work.
BRIAN Genius WILSON. And all the while Mike Love was dissing this album. Mike had a pretty good voice but what an ego driven clod. He wanted to go back to the early days of surfing a chicks and cars. Brian had this brilliant stuff in his head and heart. Thanks to GOD IN HEAVEN that he stayed strong and moved forward with this album in spite of his abusive father and dissing cousin! One of the best albums of all time.
Pretty good? His voice and vocal control were pretty incredible! Listen to Our Prayer or The Lords Prayer. Not to mention he helped with lots of lyrics. I hate Mike as a person as much as the next guy, but I wont let his value be understated.
This is not true, and not born out by the overdubs on the session tapes. Brian sings the lead, yes. But Mike does the bass vocal and "baby don't you know" interjection at 0:57 and the "uh uh's" at 2:30 and the "no" immediately following that . The backing vocals were most likely done by Brian, Mike and Carl as Carl is the voice saying "That's it" at the very end of this. If that were just Brian who would he be talking to?
@@BehindTheSounds thanks for answering this. I've heard this repeated many times and I consider you an authority on the subject. Can you tell me who sang all the parts in Til I Die?
Problem with that formula was that most of the Pet Sounds songs were hard to perform live and weren't really dance rock pop tunes that their fans and audience were expecting. Poor Brian, he had a really good thing going at the time of Pet Sounds, but juggling how to keep the record company, fans, and his band mates happy was just too much. I wish he could have gone independent and had enough money to let his imagination and creativity to continue run wild and just make the music he wanted to without any pressure.
On this song, yes, Brian did all the vocals. But listen to Surf's Up, Wild Honey, Smiley Smile, and Holland. The other guys were far more involved as writers and lead vocalists rather than being, as you suggest, mere backup singers for live shows.
No. All of the band members shared vocals on this, Brian was lead. Your comment about the other members is completely wrong. By this point Brian was descending and the other members were taking over the creative process. Do a little research before you post.
On the final mix of this track, a hiss is audible on the master. During the 3rd chorus, right at "...when you can(sss) love again" . It's not on these isolated vocals. How does that get into the mix down?

haha
So what? He had to reach that mic. Are you knocking him for his height? The man is incredibly talented!

It's amazing to know that "to lead a better life, I need my love to be here..." was inspired by this record. Just that intro... that much influence.
Brian's voice is absolutely fantastic!
Brian is nothing short of a National Treasure!
A gift from God!
A beautiful, troubled genius.
@@thunor3656… He was only “troubled” by what the Capitol Records execs and his father, Murry did to him and his creativity…
isolated beach boys vocals/instrumentals are such a force
Dammit his vocals are incredible here! wow
a very simple but effective melody. i love you brian!!!
even the badu da doohs literally make this song perfect... my favorite part is "im guess im saying.. your the only one"...

Such a beautiful lyric!
Sublime.
@@johnnykeeling5680 lol Steve cox means the feeling of sublime, not the band.
I’m Waiting For The Day that Brian Wilson is truly recognized as the musical genius he is with a solo induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

TY for this beautiful post
Makes me sad that in less than 10 years his voice was completely torched with all the booze and the cigs and coke.
Brian, has stated that he preferred, Pepsi, over, Coke ! 🤥
Accidental mike love ASMR
this is truly interesting! 👍👍
The still photograph is a little misleading as Brian performed ALL the vocals on this track making it even more amazing......
even the mike love bit? lol
even those bass notes? daaannng

Lo que hubiera sido ver a McCartney con este tipo en una banda
Wilson didn't need MacCartney. Stop this pointless discussion now
Yes, I think is not even from the same year, but just to put an image to the audio track, I picked this one, Thanks for your comment.

I also think all the voices are Brian.....the band by this point was Brian and back up singers called The Beach Boys, that perform his songs live.
