    It will be interesting to see how noisy the pump is compared to the tunze ?

    • @ReefDorkXtra
      @ReefDorkXtra  Год назад +2

      I meant to mention this. I asked the question and they told me it's quiet and you pretty much won't hear it. The bottom of the pump is rubberised to reduce vibrations and the outlet pushes water against the sump glass so you won't get loud splashing. Although i'd imagine you'll still hear a quiet trickle. My impression is it'll be very quiet indeed, but i'll reserve judgment until i've tested it as i'm sensitive to sound!

      @@ReefDorkXtra it looks like the tmc small footprint dc return pumps so if you can find out if its dc then well know how quiet it is, if always fitted soft silivone tube under and around my pumps to eliminate vibration noise too

      Whatever happened to the Osmolator 2.0 they were bringing out? It was supposed to feature a quiet pump. I heard it was coming a year ago and then they said Supply chain issues were slowing it down. Haven’t heard anything since. I would buy a pump over buying the Red Sea system. I do like the connectivity to ReefBeat though. It looks like another good piece of equipment from them.

      @@FoolOfATuque sounds like it's finally on its way - Tunze showed it off at Reefstock last week. They didn't say anything about noise in the video I saw so I wonder if it's actually gonna be quieter...

      @@ReefDorkXtra I guess time will tell. If it’s quieter than they are going to sell a lot of pumps I think. I would love the Red Sea one, because I already have the doser and filter roller. I’m already invested in the Tunze though and it’s only a year old.

    Red Sea is on a roll! They're going to have a solution for everything Neptune Apex does here very soon it looks like! I think the price is actually right in line with where it should be. The temperature monitoring and leak detection add a lot of value in my opinion.

    Stuff like this is kind of keeping me from getting a aquarium controller. They need a PH probe now. I already have the Dose and that would be perfect to add in.

    Glad that RedSea is coming out with a product to fix there problem with the reefmat. While I love the reefmat. Every time it spins to clean mat the water level gets higher in the back of the sump. My Tunze ATO alarms on me. This is a never ending cycle. RedSea to the rescue.

    Great video Alex. I think in comparison cost wise they are quite close you can get the tunze one from Charterhouse for £180 but if this one is quieter then I’d go for this for sure

    Can you put the probe in the main section of the tank if you have a smaller aquarium or does it have to go in the sump?

    • @ReefDorkXtra
      @ReefDorkXtra  Год назад

      You can put a pH probe in your DT but I wouldn't want it anywhere it will see light as it'll grow algae. And probes are delicate so not easily cleaned. And you'd want it away (upstream) from your dosing outlet.

    I need a reef hack! My water storage is about 6 meters from my display tank and I would like to put the pump in that area but I don’t think the wire will reach the controller. How do I extend the cable from the pump to the control panel if even possible?

    • @ReefDorkXtra

      Not sure if you can, but check what connectors they use when it's released and see if you can get a male to female extender.

    When you say the safety cutoff sensor knows when you have turned your return off, I’m guessing you have to have a red sea return for that benefit? If no red sea return then the ato needs to be turned off when doing water changes etc?

    Hey Reef Dork
    Is this just the system for detecting water level and controlling refill?
    Does it include RO water reservoir?
    I’m interested in setting up ATO with remaining room in cabinet and curious about how all that works
    (Refilling a 5 gallon reservoir every few days or what)

    • @ReefDorkXtra
      @ReefDorkXtra  Год назад

      That's it - no reservoir. Space in sump is pretty tight for a reservoir but you can either use the existing red sea reservoir or baffle a section in the sump. Easier option is to install a container in a cupboard somewhere

    • @FoolOfATuque
      @FoolOfATuque Год назад

      For my reservoir I use a trigger systems sapphire ATO. It looks good enough to just sit next to my tank, but you don’t need such an expensive one. You do want an ATO, because it prevents salinity swings by replacing evaporated water.
