Congrats Alex! Can't wait to see next episodes about this tank. Setting up new tank it's always exciting time for all reefers. I'm sure this one will be great!
Man, I really like your videos. Solid work on the disclaimer especially. Handled that well. I also really enjoy my double head redsea doser. Haven't considered their tanks before, but yours looks great. The frag tank is a cool bonus as well.
I just got a Reefer625 outfitted with everything RedSea. I’m setting it up and hoping to start cycling in within the coming week! Be looking forward to more of your videos in this series
Oh man I miss the wallpaper but wow, this is going to be amazing. Rockscape is off to a fantastic start as well, can't wait to see how you apply all the lessons learned in this build.
Interesting upgrades to the stand by RedSea , I have a couple of 250’s and prior to fitting the tank I added bracing to the front . The was a recent poll downunder regarding failed tanks and at least 80% of the tanks were found to be not sitting on a suitable surface as in they were on a suspended timber floor or the floor was not level ....these were the cabinets without the more recent adjustable feet . I do agree with the lack of ventilation, I have to swap out an underpowered return pump so whilst the equipment is out the hole saw will go in
Congrats on being able to get a very expensive gift out of Red Sea. 😅 you are living the dream. 🎉 good luck getting it through the window. My Red Sea 750 g2 was moved by just 2 guys though they were a professional installer and had specialist gear
Also really appreciate you highlighting the differences on these new G2 tanks. I have a G1 525xl that I'm upgrading to a G2 750xxl this summer. Have had my tank up for 5 years now and there's been no issues with the tank or stand. But I'm looking forward to your videos detailing the differences in the G2 series because it's hard to see everything properly in their photos.
Hell of a tank pal 👍🏻, I’m eyeing the s-700 g2 for my upgrade next year so il be watching , and good luck getting it all into place safely , no cracking overflows this time 🙏🏻😂
im jealous to say the least!! my local reef shop here in California united states just put one in there shop and set it up. tank look absolutely amazing in person
It looks a lovely tank, it will be interesting to see how it progresses I purchased one of those battery backups you mentioned a few videos back, I have plugged it into my MP10 and Apex computer. I tested its longivity and stopped the test after 10 hours even though it could have gone on longer.
Braver man than me, even if it was free. I wish you the best of luck though and look forward to the rest of the series. Hopefully Red Sea don’t go back on their word and begin censorship as soon as they can, like they do.
I am one of the few g1 425 owners that has 100+ gallons of saltwater all over my home! All they said was sure give you a discount to buy a replacement, when it’s pretty much a know fact that these tanks have issues. I use love redsea and use their products and now I will no longer use any of their products.
I bought their gyre a year or so ago but it needed cleaning really often, otherwise performance would drop off a cliff. And the return isn't silent so I prefer Jecod (well Reef Factory rebadged Jecod)
Congrats - awesome tank and a well deserved gift from RS. I'll give you 8 weeks before you change out the lights - was never a fan of the blues. They were too purple and red looking to my eye!
@@eillyacostandinides3344 Yeah I know, it has a weird mix that makes it feel like its got red mixed in there to my eye. Felt like I was always chasing trying to get a nice blue
Happy new tank. Do those aquascapes leach many phosphates? Good idea to seed first. Liking the look of the red sea lighting bar that will look very neat. I've had red sea tanks for years, it is a concern about the reports of leaking tanks but I'd still get a red a sea tank. I've always found their customer service excellent.
I can't be certain but it my experience I've had phosphate spikes a couple of times with those scapes and I think it was probably them. Didn't last long though
Whilst I'm not personally a fan of Red Sea tanks, thats more from a layout and appearance perspective rather than any worry about a tank failure - especially as I'd be confident they have solved any issues given it's their bread & butter. Question - had you been purchasing the tank yourself, would you still have gone with the Red Sea rather than a Waterbox/Cade/other brand? (Curiosity, not criticism :) )
I wouldn't have gone with Cade cos I don't like the freshwater reservoir being behind the tank on large tanks. Money no object I'd have gone for this tank but the WB Frag 6 footer and Infinia Reef 6 footer would have been very tempting.
Just joined your channel , I am in the process of setting up a marine tank. (Coming back into the hobby after a long break) , the tank is a nano tank (85ltr), at some stage l would like to keep soft corals. Could a recommend a book on soft corals.
Nice, I am really looking forward to the process. Did you made any considerations because of the total weight? Is there a basement underneath the room?
Just Wondering what the running costs a month are for you on this tank in the uk? I’m looking to upgrade from a 170 to a 525 and would like to know what I’m getting myself into😂
Its a nice gift but you know if your paying money your self red sea are deffo somewhere near the bottom of the list im talking about the tank the red sea skimmer and reef mat are good bits of kit but them tank 2 and half years it's best to re seal or you front room turns in to a water park i like your content tho
could you please make a few comments on how easy or how difficult it would be to relocate with such a tank? I can imagine that setting it up for the first time is facilitated by having all the parts that you need delivered, including some propertary Red Sea components like for example their silent valve, in a prestine, unused state, and in the original packaging. But once you have connected and glued together all the piping, and the tank has been running for a few years, will it be possible to take everything down, organize the transport, and put all back together in a different place? I am asking this because there are people who need to relocate for professional reasons every few years🤡
@@ReefDork Me too. I had to relocate with a 240 liter tank from Duisburg, Germany to Leeds in UK. This Included spending the night in a cabin on a ferryboat with some liverock, 5 fish and a mushroom coral in a Ikea box. That was all the livestock I had, and all went well, perhaps due to a 12V-220V converter and a low-power aeration, filtering and heating system permanently connected. But I did not want to take the risk again one year later when I had to return. So I gave it all to a colleague in Leeds who had fish.
I have a 10 year old red sea max 500, It has never given me a concern regarding the build quality and the silicone seal looks very good still. When i change to a new tank i am sure it will be a red sea again. though i hope they would bring a slightly lower model more like a lagoon.
Would never buy Red Sea again. I had a g2 tank seam fail! So many better options out there right now, plus their customer service is horrific. But it’s cost you nothing so best of luck
Not sure why I’m getting hate from this comment. It’s my personal opinion on Red Sea tanks, which comes from previous history. For the record I am a big fan of reef dorks channel and it’s some of the best content out there on RUclips.
"I've gone with the RS lights" did they offer something else? Pretty sure this is missing the paid promotion label, YT says that if you're provided free products, it's a paid promotion. Just a heads up :). I could care less and us RS gear myself, but I figured you'd want to be on the right side of YT TOS.
I don't like to use the banner because it's ambiguous so I prefer to say exactly what the deal is. I use the banner when I've been paid money (2 videos so far and I also say those videos are sponsored at the start). RS didn't offer me anything else, I just mean I would have bought the Kessils as my number 1 choice but I decided the RS lights and £2,000 in my pocket was better than the Kessil lights and £0 in my pocket!
