- Something non-Minecraft related I've been working on for a long time!
Animancer is an action/adventure RPG set in a fictional fantasy world inspired by the diverse art, mythology, and ecology of ancient sub-Saharan Africa. The game follows the story of the Animancer, a boy with the divinely-bestowed power to manipulate beast magic, as he faces monsters, humans, spirits, and gods alike in his quest to save the world.
I started working on Animancer with my school's game development club. Since I graduated, I have continued working on the game alone hoping to someday publish it as a complete, playable experience. Expect updates on Animancer and maybe development logs in the future!

Stunning visuals and interesting gameplay. Even if something fails and it does not come perfect, remember this still shows amazing talent and ull learn a lot with this. Great job!

Damn, been a big fan of yours for a while now, and this even exceeds your Minecraft content in terms of scale. Definitely getting a play from me. One thing I would note is that you might want to change the lighting in the future? I'm assuming this is an early look at the game, and the finished product will have a less unity-like feeling and be more unique. Looking forward to it!
Thanks!! I’m using Unreal Engine 4 for this and I don’t plan to change that. That said, I will continue to improve the lighting and materials. My look target is the game Kena Bridge of Spirits.
@@BobMowzie Ah ok. I've never thought that realistic lighting on cartoonish style characters looked good. But if you can do it go for it.

This actually looks insane. The visuals are stunning and the concept of animal morphing is sweet and simple. My only suggestion would be possibly adding more wildlife, and maybe increasing the lighting.

Some of the characters in Animancer look like the Barakoas and to top it off, this game looks incredible, I love the atmosphere in the game.

I don’t know where to start… The passion in this project is quite apparent. The fact that you’ve been working on this since high school is amazing and gives me hope for my own game ideas (halfway through college & feel kinda late in the game). Some of the combat feels possibly inspired by Avatar the Last Airbender. Any connections, or just happy coincidence? What’s your favorite part of the project so far?

The skills you’ve acquired from working on Mowzie’s Mobs definitely shows in this, the animations are quite smooth, the design choices, etc. have a similar air about them. I will be watching your progress with great interest. Hopefully I’ll be able to learn a thing or two from it as well!

Also I think the folaaith should have rare chance to be able to become a mini boss. For example either come across one will make the boss startill or killing either 12 or 15 folaaiths will make it spawn near you. The attacks and abilitys:1. it will attack the player stretch a little further than a regular folaaith.2. If the player trys running it go into the ground start moving in the ground particles will appear you can outrun it but it won't stop until you stop.3. Once you stop running it pop up and start attacking again.4. Sometimes leaves will pop out of the ground alerting the player to stay away from those blocks because in 3 seconds baby folaaiths will pop from the ground and snap their teeth then go back into the ground.5. The boss will have 20 hp and 2 attack damage. Taking care: killing it will give you a folaaith seed but why a folaaith seed? No this seed will actually let you have you own folaaith but once grown up instead of attacking you it will be your pet. Attacking other mobs for you. How to know which one is a boss first there will be a boss bar. 2 instead of purple head it will have magenta head. Three the leaves will be a darker green. That's all bob mowzie.
We need more African inspired fantasy games and movies in general, I love European fantasy inspired things but it gets old after a while, this is awesome

Thanks! Lots of doodling and experimentation. Also a lot of digging online for interesting references and inspiration. The small team of artists I had was very talented.

I have a question: Why is the green barakoya mask guy changed texture ?
Was this made by you this animancer game?
People thought the Barakoa were humans, so I changed them to green to better depict them as goblins

Are you trying to install Mowzie’s Mobs on bedrock edition? You can’t do that. Mowzie’s Mobs is a mod for Java edition. It’s not possible to use it on mobile. Use Gabriel Cape’s fan-made port instead.

Well sorry if I'm annoying you but the reason why I asked is because Gabriel cape doesn't have the full version like yours. Example Gabriel cape doesn't have boss music and barakoayas to heal barako. Sorry interrupting you.
Right, because his version is on Bedrock/Pocket Edition. Bedrock addons can’t do everything mods can do. These features are impossible in Pocket edition.

We don’t work together on it. I’m not really in contact with him. Ask him yourself.

I don't currently plan for this. The enemy designs for both projects are very specific to the two different types of gameplay.
