This project took a little trial and error to get it to work just right but the persistence paid off in the end! It's definitely one of my favourite scrapwood Challenges!
You can download a pdf with the dimensions I used here paskmakes.com/plans/
The dimensions may not work exactly with your own springs and materials but it's a fun project that you should be able to figure out with some trial and error. The pdf is very basic but will give you a starting point.
As always I'm happy to answer any questions.

MUY buena calidad, el texto imagenes. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO Un manuel muy completo y trabajado. Resulta muy práctico. Para principiantes y profesionales. Lo recomiendo
You have quickly become my favourite maker here on RUclips. Just incredible ideas and the skills to make them a reality.
Thanks very much! :)
Couldn't agree more
I have to agree. Some of the best maker content on you tube for sure.
What he said!
Ã
6:03, subtle, yet extremely well-executed, and not unnoticed. This is what I enjoy about your videos. And your intro song. I can't get it out of my head XD
Scrapwood Challenge song = earworm
That shot at 6:03 made me stop and rewatch. Excellently executed.
This Old Tony is rubbing off on the RUclips world. Neil have you been Shoot'n the Poop?
same here! It was just subtle enough that my brain didn't quite process it the first time
Replicating with a pencil is much quicker than a band saw.
He cut wood easy way with pencil, may be hitman was his sidejob.
I didn't notice that at first but after you mentioned it I had to watch it several times as well.
I hope SWC never ends Neil! Amazing like always pal! 👏
The shade is magnificent! Great work as always mate, you encourage me to try harder. Thank you!
I love starting off the day and seeing a new video of yours in the news feed. Something to look forward to. I pick up so much from you videos whether it be the ideas or different projects or even just the little tricks and jigs you make/do to make it easier for yourself. Great project. Keep the the awesome work!
Great project...I like your blend of tool builds vs. project builds. It's a nice balance. I really liked this, thanks for posting it.
Pask Makes me enjoy woodworking videos and has given me 1000’s of ideas for new projects and how to do things better. Thanks Pask!
Love the design! Form and function along with craftsmanship at it's finest. The shade was cherry--as in cherry on top. Well done.
Awesomeness once again. Thanks for these always entertaining yet informational productions, great results, great content, great production style!
No worries Richard - I'm very glad you enjoyed it! :)
It's a work of art, Neil. Proof that there is no such thing as "scrap wood". You are a true master!
My friend, that would have to be the best looking, and working, lamp of this type of design, that I have seen. It's not only a woodworking piece, but also a work of art.
Very clever... I agree... Best 'Scrapwood Challenge' so far.
Paak!! You've out done yourself with this one. The motion looks effortless but it stays sturdy, no recoil from the movement. Beautiful craftsmanship
Ingenuity, craftsmanship, attention to detail, and an absolutely lovely result as always. Fantastic looking lamp!
so great.. love this.. one of the most creative and underrated woodworkers on RUclips.. appreciate you mate! really admire your sharp mind and creative solutions!
Thanks Shane - glad you're enjoying the channel! :)
Brilliant, simple as that...brilliant 👍🏼😊
Pixar will be very impressed.
Love all of your projects. Your style is entertaining and down to earth and I think its fantastic that you acknowledge the little mistakes, as you show quick fixes. As a perfectionist it's really important to me when I find someone who encourages me not to stress about it all. Thank you and keep up the good work.
That's really nice Neil and you certainly made 'light' work of it.. ;-) 🇬🇧
Haha! :)
in two words: in-credible! :-)
absolutely beautiful craftmanship and attention to detail, I've been looking to do something similar to this design, but mixing wood with other materials. This is the final push I needed, thanks!
Absolutely amazing! One of the greatest work you‘ve ever made....👍🥇
Wow. Just amazing what you can do with some creative thinking, talented woodworking skills and a pile of scrap wood! Second time I’ve watched this one. Love them all!
My wife heard your scrapwood challenge jingle, and she loved it. Thanks for putting a smile on her face.
Bravo sir! Very inspiring build. You have become one of my favorite build channels!
definitely one of the coolest SWC's yet...great work and a pleasure to watch as always!
The Scrapewood God!
Summertime weather has arrived and I now have no excuses about getting busy in my unheated shop. Now it's down to choosing ~ the Pask Playlist is a long one! 🤔🤗
That's very impressive. Love how you are making things work in wood that are traditionally made in metal.
That's a beautiful Pixar light you made out of wood. I have the same shop light and I cant tell you how many times I stared at mine and thought I should try and replicate it out of wood. Well done brother :) Now you need to make the baby version
It's hard to say for sure, but I think this one has been my favorite as well. Excellent work sir.
What a great looking lamp! Totally unique take on the Anglepoise. Love it Neil 👍🏼
I agree, your the only wood working\maker putting out real content!
Dude you're the creative grandpa I don't deserve . This lamp is AMAZING !
I love the editing too !
Absolutely brilliant! I love the touch of painting the inside of the lampshade cone bright white.
I've been wanting to make one of those for years. Now I have some great instructions to follow. What I really need though is one with a magnifying glass as well. Thanks
Holy smokes that is a beautiful build, also some very clever editing. Top job mate.
Thanks very much Riaan! Glad you liked it mate! :)
Man, this is so inspiring!! I wish I had the time to do ALL projects that I watch 🤩
the white paint makes it look soo NEAT .. Amazing
Your craftsmanship and ingenuity are amazing. That turned out beautiful.
Awesome lamp! I love how you cut the wood with a pencil at 6:04
Phenomenal work, really enjoyable top watch your videos, great editing and explanations as you go! Thanks
I love these style lamps, this is my favorite scrap wood challenge yet. Thank you for the content.
A other masterpiece of the scrapwood challenge! Thank you for sharing this with us!
Love the idea of wooden cone light-shades around the shed. (already have the lights)
DANG IT NEIL, this was on my list of future videos to do!
Oh well. Love your work mate, keep it up! Cheers from down south 👍🏻
i am so envious of your woodworking skills, I live vicariously through your videos.
I really enjoy your scrap wood challenges. It show you what you can do with just about any kind of wood.
What an amazing project! Michelangelo used to say that his statues had always been in the stone and that he only needed to take away the excess material. For me you are the "Michelangelo of scrapwood". You have all my respect!
...and of course I love the Pixar animation at the end. Just great! 😂
Thanks very much! :)
Incredible - I think the term 'scrapwood' is redundant at this point!
Hello from Portland, Oregon. This was a totally awesome video! I love the challenge, the result and how you admit to and take in stride your mistakes (very few). Keep em coming. I’ll be anxiously waiting. Thanks so much!
You blew my mind when you even made the cone out of timber, and the white inside looks fantastic. I like the subtle but creative edits too.
Really beautiful, Neil! I love the nod to Pixar at the end too. :-D
Wow. Is a very nice project. Thumbs up. On 16:20 it look's like the lamp got some teeth. 👍🏼
Pixar never had a teeth lmao
I'm constantly checking your channel for new videos. This is one of my favorites so far! Well done!
Truly an elegant and interesting project. And the presentation is always a joy. Never stop!
Brilliant. The thumbnail didn't do it justice!
Fantastic as always Neil!
Thanks Scott! :)
Love the seeming simplicity.
Nicely done Sir
That turns out great! You're right, that's one of the best Srapwood Challenges. I love your videos!
Greetings from Germany.
Chris
Lovely piece! The company who made this original type of lamps actually made, and still makes these lamps out of wood, as well as metal. You did a smashing job, great way to utilise decent wood to make a beautiful and useful object.
Cool!
That was one of the most enjoyable woodworking videos I have ever watched. Your channel is a joy - you have a fantastic level of skill. Thank you.
Awesome lamp! I've been looking for guidelines on making an articulated arm like this for a project of my own and will definitely be taking a look at your plans. Thanks for sharing!
Just when I thought I'd seen every tool in the shed...out comes the lathe!!
I thought at the end it was going to squash your logo! Maybe that could be a scrap wood challenge new intro idea?
This is awesome. For me, the best scrapwood challenge so far. Thank you for sharing it with us!
Always amazing to see the figure of the wood you use. I know you have told us all before but it always brings life to your projects.
Side note. I know its not much time saved but if you have a drill chuck for the power end of your lathe when cutting pins like that i have found the carbide tools to be much faster and easier on the lathe than in the press with a hacksaw. Well with the exception of cutting bolts down i have never tried that haha.
6:02 Which brand of pencil sharpener do you use? Seems pretty efficient.
That was so quick I nearly missed it! lol
If only - a pencil that cuts so neatly, we would ALL want one of those.
I love it. But I have to warn you as Electrical Engineer, you can burn cone for long time usage. You should always use LED bulb which has low watt. You should check heating. I suggest, you can cover with a foil inside the cone, it can help for reflection and this good way for getting better illumination and it can isolate for heating.
Perfect design I enjoyed!!!
BTW you should add you logo on it ;-)
Thanks Eren! The bulb is an LED low wattage(5.5W), it's seems absolutely fine! :)
And that is something I call amazing. I want to make one on my own now, your channel is a gold mine of ideas and this is a real nugget!
Outstanding as usual ... you just have this knack of seeing, scrounging what you need and turning the idea into a beautiful work for us all to envy. As always, thanks for sharing your eclectic style, wonderful woodworking talent and a MacGyver way of using what ya got to pull it all off. You've become a YT icon in this hobby! Cheers my mate!!
you are a magician!!
Man, your scrap looks like my good wood.
That’s incredible Neil. Love the hand made articulating arms for that. The whole thing is just beautiful and brilliant. I’m sure that must have taken some outside the box thinking. I have loved your whole scrap wood challenge series. Great job as always.
I'm so glad I found your channel. Everything you do is exceptionally well done. A true craftsman
6:01 where can i find a pencil like that 😂. Great video btw. Absolutely loved the project
do you have a video editor or are you editing these? whoever edits them is great!
Thanks very much Ashley - I edit them myself! :)
I'm really happy that you and your channel exist! It's always a pleasure to watch your amazing work. I'm really grateful. Greetings from Brazil.
Last week I went to my parents' attic to look at a lamp like this that I had when I was studying and was standing on my desk. I would like to use this as a background decoration for my workshop, it seems a cool attribute. You make this yourself, respect man!
Where can I buy that "Quick Way" tool? @4:12
I'd like more information on that, too. Big laugh, thanks much.
Все чётко, прекрасная работа. Большой лайк 👍. Привет из России ✌️🇷🇺
Awesome craftsmanship Sir !!!!!!!!!!!
I tried to make this some time back. It was a total fail.. you make it look so easy.. it's note easy at all. Salute mate you have now demonstrated your skills beyond doubt..
Pixar: Origins (2019)
You should have an apprentice to pass on your knowledge to.
just discovered your channel. another great video...and seeing your dogs chase while you work is precious!
This is the most beautiful lamp I have ever seen and I love your videos! Thank you!!!!
Careful. Disney might sue.
Or, even worse, claim your video...
I'm watching Mumbo Jumbo go through some stuff because of a 4-second sound sample used in a song created and licensed for him. 4-seconds! Not even lyrics of a song, it's a sound byte! RUclips is a joke.
Very nice build! I think I have to agree. This is the best scrap project jet. Reminds me of my childhood. I had a lamp like that on my desk. I was steel and brown, like everything in the 70’s, but a very good lamp.
You are extremely talented my friend. Love all the challenges, but this one so far is my favorite! 👍🏻👍🏻
What a great way to use scrap wood. Super project and a great result. Thanks for sharing your ideas and obvious skills. Best wishes.
Love the humour in these sir. Happy to have discovered your channel. Thank you for all the hard work.
I've never seen you use a jointer or a planer before (it's always been hand planes), and here are both in the first minute and a half!!! Glad to know you're human like the rest of us!!
Yeah. I think this just this one just bumped the water bucket as my favorite scrap wood challenge. Well done sir!
EXCELLENT! THANK YOU FOR SHARING FROM ACROSS THE POND...................
Amazing what you do sir! Very inspiring! Thanks for sharing this build.
my favorite classic lamp design redesigned! love it!
As always an unexpected creative idea, it seems so easy when you build it, and a very unique video every time. All of it has your signature, I agree you are underrated, you are a great lesson for most of us every time. thank you once more!
NEVER CEASE TO AMAZING!! LOVE IT!! That lamp shade is gorgeous!!!
What a beautiful piece. That would look good in any home.
