I reckon the plane shavings as a shade, in the one I made in this video, was neater than the first one. I could probably even refine the process more but I think it's getting there.
As always I'm happy to answer any questions.

The author does like to from scratch, ruclips.net/user/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.
That was probably the best in-video ad segue I've ever seen.
Masterful Lol idk about your sense of humor but "internet comment etiquette" has some pretty funny and unexpected segways as well
@@fatlacesthedon Just so you know, "Segway" is the brand name, whereas "segue" is the term to refer to one topic melding into another.
Mini_Marauder...one in every crowd. (Two in this case, because I thought the same thing.) 😆
I don't think it's the best in video segue but it's just a hair off being the best.
It's the best Dollar Shave Club ad since Norm Macdonald was dropped.
When you put the razor on the wood piece, for a second I thought you were going all This Old Tony on us 🤣
you and me both :D
Great minds think alike)
@@Gogofam123 But fools rarely differ.
Likewise.
Hahahha yep
18:30 I realized that you’re the most innovative woodworker I’ve seen. Your style has a charm to it that seems not to take woodworking too seriously and yet your pieces display so many perfectly executed, novel techniques and your understanding of proportion is clearly such that the things you make are genuinely unlike anything I’ve seen before.
Coming up with original ideas is so so difficult but you seem to do it in a regular basis. I hope for you that the ideas are always too abundant to keep up with!
Thanks very much and you're right that I don't take it too seriously, I'm just giving it a go and enjoying myself! :)
Clarion you're right, but first Pask and Frank Howarth have to fight.
This blew my mind
Arash Molavi …""
So brilliantly and accurately articulated
I have done some woodworks in the past but this woodwork plan ruclips.net/user/postUgkxZF0EMnrujZvqHhGkxiz559uIABJWR9TG helps me do much in a far lesser time than i used to do i have already built several projects with this plan and i intend to do many more soon. Thank you so much!
Really I did not understand until this segment just how coherent Mr. Pask is I do not hear well hence cc for me so by the time I read that he has moved on but somehow I can follow what he is doing , unlike many others I am in my mid seventies and still work in my shop. Some of the jigs and tools Pask Makes are an immense help. I have been working wood for over sixty years and have never tired of learning. Please continue your "Scrapwood Challenge"...forget the CNC, give me more hand tools.
Thanks very much Pete! Fantastic to hear you're still in your workshop, hopefully I'll be doing the same in a few years too. Glad you find the videos useful even though you would have far more experience than me! :)
that's awesome!! in mid seventies and still active in working. You are an inspiration to others, hats off to you sir.👏👏
When I glue up for a lamp base, I cut a small slot in the sides that glue together. That way I don't have to worry about drilling a deep hole that wanders all over the place. Great job Mr. Pask... Thanks for bringing us along
That's a great idea! :)
Good to for sure. Early in the video I was wondering how he was going to do that.
Learned that trick for making blowguns, and later employed it on a few "flutes of inordinate size". ;o)
6:51 Please don't get confused and attempt to shave your chin with a block plane though.... 😧
Like Stan Laurel shaving Oliver Hardy in their woodshop. Have a look for it...

Why do you think Neil's finally joined Dollar Shave Club?
@@jodyrohde6938 Thanks for the memories. L & H, two minds without a single thought.
Fantastic, as always! Isn't it amazing how many different things you've already made with your Scrapwood Challenges -- and you still have at least half of the wood left!
and some of that wood is good!
I believe he's on his 2nd or 3rd pile... Maybe even more!
Thanks very much Donna! Yes there is still plenty for more challenges yet! :)
Clarty Paths 😆😂🤣
Wow! Another great project. Your attention to detail is what makes you stand out as one of my favourite RUclips makers.
What make this channel special is your mix of great craftsmanship and amazing good taste in design!
The lamps turned out great. I think that the use of plexiglass was a really smart solution to the issues you had on your experimental adventure with the larger hanging light fixture. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work.
Those are really gorgeous. I don't normally care much for lamp projects but this has a beautiful elegance in its complex construction for such a simple shape. Well done
My grandfather was a master wood worker and your projects reminds me of his work. I enjoy seeing what you do.
Such beautiful craftsmanship Neil! Thanks for sharing the process with us. Your videos are always my favorite. Keep up the great work.
Those are beautiful. Love the backlit colors in the shade coming through.
Your scrapwood challenges are my favorite part of your channel. It is amazing what you can make from scrap. You have some real skills. Thank you for making the videos I enjoy learning and getting ideas for them.
Beautiful. Very classy yet, modern and homey. Love the proportions.
The trick with separating the routed out shade caps on the table saw was mind blowing! Keep up the most excellent work!
Top man. Excellent project, clearly explained. Thank you.
I derived nothing but pleasure watching you make this. So many ideas and techniques were demonstrated. Fantastic, simply fantastic.
Still confused why you haven’t hit a million subscribers by now. Another fabulous video!🇦🇺👴🏻
Mark Brandtman ~Back in the 1980s, during the Tipper Gore PMRC debacle, Frank Zappa was boycotting Washington state, so he set up an 800 number where you could order his CDs. Right after he set it up I heard about it and was jones'ing to hear a little Grand Wazoo, so I gave it call and ended up taking to Frank himself on the phone. When I said I was in Washington and that I was calling because of the PMRC stickering here, he jokingly said, "Well, you need to get off your ass and fix that shit." LOL So I'm telling you to tell your other woodworking buddies about Pask and fix that shit! I know I've told at least a dozen people that have subbed. So get going! LOL Cheers
Gorgeous piece. Loved the "snap" and Pask is out of the frame shot when you turned the lamp on.
Absolutely love your work and you are an amazing photographer too! Thanks for sharing your gifts with us.
These are awesome! Really beautiful lamps. I also enjoyed the process. Good idea with the plexi for the shades.
Probable one of your best Projects. ..a true work of Art and technique thank you for sharing and keep on that !!!!
Amazing narrative, beautiful workmanship, very enjoyed watching this, like all the other videos you make. Great work man!
Hi,
I like these even more than the first one.
The technique with the plexiglas seems less difficult to.
Nice project, thanks for sharing.
Willy from Belgium.

Very beautiful design, thank you for sharing your amazing story. God bless you and your family.
You never cease to amaze me. Your scrap wood challenge is so much fun.
Another great video! As someone just starting to learn about woodworking, small things like you showing the label of your stain are incredibly helpful and very appreciated :)
Great project my friend.
Thanks for sharing.
Maaan, you've reached such a level, i'm speachless in front of those beautiful lamps :O
Great creativity too, in all the meanings.
Awesome, I've been wanting to do this myself thank you for figuring it out it'll make my life a lot easier

That was the most innovative idea I’ve seen in a long time. They’re beautiful.
Love the design, great looking lamps.

Absolutely Gorgeous as always! Your skill and patience are top notch. Cheers!
Great design, great forethought and planning, great filming.
Great shavings and a great shave, too. Nicely done!
Those lamps are fantastic! What a wonderful idea having the wood shavings as the cover for the lampshades! That just blew me away! 👍
I am continuously in awe of the amount of work that go into your videos. Truly well done Neil!
Thanks very much Phil! :)
...the usual good woodworking... I see where it's going... then magic happens... Two rings appear... back to the regular program... 14:10 or so. Fantastic.
Those lamps are both unique & beautiful Pask! You always do amazing work........ 👍👍
This is a very beautiful lamp.
A great idea with the very thin wood.
It also shines beautifully.
I've already watched a few of your very good videos.
You always do everything very well.
And you always have super cool ideas.
Many thanks for all your very good videos.
Hands down, I learn more little techniques from your videos than any other channel on RUclips. Good on you, sir! Awesome as always. Cheers & Happy New Year. -C
What a great gift idea!! Masterfully executed too, as always.
Quite elegant Neil. Really enjoyed your Shave Club segway. It gave me a laugh!
I like how you made the shades with the wood rims at the top and bottom. And I like that you showed how you made the bulb support to hold the shade on the lamp base. Thank you for sharing your skill.
I’ve watched this video before when you first put it out and I just watched it all again.
You do nice work Mr. Pask.
Totally agree ... a clean shaven man looks 10 years younger! The lamps are awesome, unique and true works of art.
Nice. I really enjoyed this presentation. Great end product.
The lamps are very nice, I've always wanted to build one. thank you for sharing
They look amazing Neil, nicely done! 😃👌🏻👍🏻👊🏻
You made that look so easy and effortless to build. Great lamps. Love your channel
As always.. it's neat and inspiring. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
True craftsman. Love your videos. You make it look easy and I like how you keep coming up with great projects. One of my favorite channels
Whoa!! New bloke on set!! I thought it was a guest appearance by some clean shaven chap!! Absolutely love watching the lathe work. Another great project.
Neil, you keep outdoing yourself!
your method of gluing the shavings to the plexiglass is perfect!
Beautiful work, friend! Wow....super fun. You do it in such a way that makes me want to try this!
Thanks Tim - that's great to hear! :)
Lovely work as always.
Perfect! Beautiful project
Love the design and the execution...
Stunningly beautiful. Insanely innovative. Well done sir.
Wonderful as always, I never though I would be offering advice to you especially on such a wonderful result, but when joining the shade into its tube shape, leave a small strip of acrylic exposed and use acrylic weld for a clean joint with no fixings. Beautiful, you have inspired me to give that a try, thank you.
love those lamps, very neat, good looking
ouch, hot glue on the fingers. Very nice. I've always wanted to make a veneer lamp/sculpture similar to your cool lamp. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! What a great set lamps. Great video!!!
They're stunning mate and the even nicer thing is they look up to date. Great video bud
Nice looking lamps, and an interesting idea.
OMG, they are stunning!
Really lovely. Nice work. Thanks for sharing.
Your skills leave me in awe. Well done, Sir
Just beautiful!!!
I am going to try this project out for myself. I just hope I can find a wood as beautiful as kind you had.
Thanks for sharing
Great job Neil, I see the light LOL !!!.
I think this is my favorite project to date. You really did a nice job!
Absolutely love these lamps!
And your ad segue was brilliant. :)
Very cool. I like the addition of the kumiko to support.
what a very simple but super cool set of lamps. they look like they came from a very high end design store. LOVE the wood shades
Amazing skills and creativity Mr.
Beautiful pieces
Beautiful. You are a master craftsman. I am saving this to build. 👍
It looks a million! Beautiful
My friend you are a craftsman. These turned out really nice. I'd love to be able to do what you do. A couple pair like these would be beautiful in my home one set in the livingroom and the other making my bedroom . Making both rooms look like a palace. I think your truly amazing. And I thank you for sharing your wonderful talent with the world. May God bless and keep you.
Thanks very much! :)
That has to be one of the most beautiful lamps ever.
Well done.
Beautiful craftsmanship!
ha ha ! well done with the sponsor, first time I ever give a like for a smooth transition for the sponsor ! very nice lamp. make me want to take out the lathe and make something rounder !
The definition of 'scrapwood' gets more illusive all the time. Those are beautiful. I wondered how you'd get a decent cylinder out of shavings but it worked out great with the perspex, well worth it for a very stylish look.
Congratulations on the videos !!! I also enjoy doing a little bit of everything, and watching your videos is a lot of inspiration! You are very creative and capricious !!! keep making more videos. God bless you
