I have one of those, but mine is lettered as Southern Railway 4501. I’ve been using it for almost three years already without any issues. It has one of the smoothest running mechanisms in my collection. The Nickel Plate Road actually had several USRA light mikados, the most famous one being NKP H6o 587. NKP 611 was actually a USRA light 2-8-2, so it is somewhat realistic to the prototype. The picture you showed was of its modified state, while Bachmann actually based it on 611’s as-built state. The as-built state can be defined by a lack of a pilot-mounted air pump, a stepped running board, and a smaller tender. The rebuilt state has a pilot-mounted air pump, a flattened running board, and a larger tender taken from a Berkshire locomotive

Southern 4501 is an awesome livery!! I’ve seen pictures of it and I wish I could have that version haha. I didn’t knew that they did have light mikado, guess Wikipedia was wrong lol, thanks for the info!!

If you add weight in the boiler around the smokebox area they can haul alot more
