It was an extremely small gallery space with over a hundred people packed in, with no idea that they were about to experience a free 45 minutes performance. You could barely move without elbowing someone in the face. Most thought they were attending a release/listening/art exhibit/party. But believe me people knew what they were getting, when they were getting it, delivered in a amazing sound system. Just because they were not jumping around like chickens in a house dance party, doesn't mean they did n't appreciate it.

I saw him back in 04 on his Ultravisitor tour. I remember he played Steinbolt then and it was fucking armageddon on stage and every one in the crowd was into it. The NYC hipsters in this vid are just too ironic to know how awesome this is.

Adam Byram Maybe it's not out of cynicism, but out of anxiety, because "hipsters" are often artists with mental problems themselves, who do want desperately to let go. That's why they bother going out in the first place. Why should you dance if you don't feel like it? That's like your boss telling you to "smile more"
Bad Timing Sound Also like, this was a release show in an art gallery. Not a formal concert or concert setting by anybody's definition. It was just a small party to celebrate the release of the album.

+Eqeh damn he got steinbolt in here? go figure for a big DAMAGING FURRIES live event he goes back to older/better-er tracks for this. it's nice to hear the kills and drops and changeups with the live setup, cuz after fucking around with various kills for arterial fantasy (easily the best track off of numbers lucent) he goes into a couple of his old bangers.... even tho modern bass guitar could always have ended after 2:42 cuz after that point/breakdown/recoil it just kind of runs out of ideas halfway through, much like one of my favorite 2014/15/ish drum and bass tracks... aeph's "crusade" ---- but yah sheeeit we get that second half of modern bass guitar on here so i'm predicting a lot of modulation/tweaks/etc. just like i reckon he's going to smash the boring ~2-3mins in the middle of steinbolt (cuz that one starts off !!!!!! and then gets aimless and then by like 5:30 or so it takes you to the future of music)

I love music very much, but I have to admit something, I've never understood dancing. I feel like I'm missing out on something but at the same time I don't get it. You don't need to be listening to good music to dance, and I don't know how you can properly appreciate music when you're dancing. Unless the music isn't important, I guess. If I was listening to some new music that I really liked, I don't know how I could be dancing at all, I'd be listening carefully. This seems very straightforward to me. But I can also see how it might be weird to be surrounded by people listening quietly like me, so I appreciate that other people do dance. I just can't understand the mindset, personally. Maybe I just don't appreciate music in a social way.
Sean Wiig (I know this is a five month old comment) but I totally agree. As a musician myself I mainly go to shows to observe my heros and see how they work. Sure I bob my head but I'm mainly an observer soaking it all in. But I'm definitely not all about filming on my phone. I snap one pic at most because there's always going to be a million videos on RUclips already.

M8, if I'd've been in the room when that intro to Steinbolt dropped, I'd've started shanking people that wern't going crazy just so they'd start twitchin' to the tunes. Set the fucking place on FIRE! That tune was my go-to jam back when my schoolmates were playin' So Solid.
Also that slight slowdown around the 15:30 mark would've made me throw my moisture over the first four rows.

I want to like squarepusher but I can't get myself to, the music does nothing for me. And I like Joshua Davis's work but the visuals don't really do anything for me after you see something like amon tobin's live performances.

They're different, and not really comparable.
