  • This version of the Logi pouch is suitable for any of your preferred bag-making fabrics with the appropriate interfacing and stabilizer. I am using cotton woven and waterproof canvas (WPC). I use WPC for my binding as there are raw ends and it is unlikely to fray. You could use vinyl as an alternative but I would not recommend fold over elastic or woven binding unless you are able to fold the ends over. This pattern was created for members of the Geek Garden Fabric group, / geekgardenfabric . The pattern template can be found in the group files, or can be downloaded directly from Google drive: drive.google.c...
    Finished pouch measures approximately 8” wide, 4” tall, 3.5” deep.
    The Logi pouch is named after my youngest son, who we call Logi Bear.

    Cute bag! Thanks for the pattern. I'm trying to find a bag for a zipper swap I've joined. This looks like it is something I can tackle. Thanks for the great tutorial.

    Totally and completely in love with making your Logi Pouch 😊
    Faux suede, decovil light, canvas interior medium woven interfacing, PERFECTION 🎉
    Now if my machine would stop skipping stitches 😮😳😬😅
    Thank you!

      Thank you! ☺️ That sounds like an amazing combination!! I like the speed of the single vinyl piece but I have to agree that my favourites are those made with interfacing and stabilizer. Skipped stitches are such a bummer though!! At what point in construction is your machine skipping stitches? Could it be the double sided tape? Or perhaps with all the layers you need a bigger needle?

      @@OKSew474 Mine skip stiches sometimes as well. I'm going to try a bigger needle and do some tests. I have to see how big I can go with my machine. Thanks for answering the question.

    How long is the zipper? I have watched a few videos and haven’t seen that yet and it isn’t on the pattern piece. I guess I can guess? I’m excited to try this pattern!

      17” of continuous zipper tape, or if using ready to sew zippers with the pull installed you want a minimum of 17” of teeth.

    Thank you for this great tutorial. I have a question, please. What is the double sided adhesive strip you use to hold the zipper? And, what is the zapper thing?

    • @OKSew474
      @OKSew474  4 месяца назад

      Hi Laura! It’s double sided tape. I use 1/8” so it stays out of my seam allowance. This is the brand I like: a.co/d/5LBovN5

    Hi Nicole, I haven't sewed it yet. What can we use instead of foam?

    • @OKSew474
      @OKSew474  10 дней назад +1

      Hi! You can use fleece or decovil in the place of foam, or add extra layers of interfacing to get the structure you want.

    On the external fabric, is the zipper tape place ‘right side down’ ? I’m rather new at this and I get so confused 😣

    • @OKSew474
      @OKSew474  7 месяцев назад +1

      That is correct! The teeth face down on the exterior, then the lining goes on top, also right side down.

    Is it possible to add some loops/fasteners so this could be turned into a small crossbody bag?

    • @OKSew474
      @OKSew474  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi Karen! This has come up before and I have spent a great deal of time thinking about it! My sort of long winded answer is that it is possible*, I would suggest doing offset attachments - one on the front and one on the bag - to help balance it out as the shape does not lend itself well to a crossbody with connectors on one side, it would tip forward. As far as placement, I would attach them just to the inside of the beginning of the top curve, either in the zipper seam, directly attached to the body, or as a hidden connector. *However, the base is deep compared to the height, which for a pouch is perfectly fine but for a crossbody you may not be pleased with the results. I do have plans to adapt this pattern to work as a crossbody, at a minimum making it taller, but haven’t had a chance to get to it yet. I have so many ideas, and am hoping to have both a wristlet and crossbody version, a handbag version and a wallet version eventually! But my brain is way ahead of my sewing and drafting time so it may be a little while yet!

    • @Wrightn221
      @Wrightn221 10 дней назад

      I would say a handbag versus a crossbody but that's how I'm looking at it. You can add handles to the sides of it, after enlarging it? I would test it first.

    Hi, love making Logi pouches, but would like to make them bigger in size. How would I go about this 😊

    • @OKSew474
      @OKSew474  4 месяца назад

      Hi Denise!! If you adjust the percentage in your printer settings and select the “poster” print option you should be able to print it across a few pages to then tape together to make the bigger size.

      Thank you! I get my zipper tape and pulls from various places; myhandmade space is a main one, Blue Calla, as well as a couple of brands I have found to be decent quality on Amazon (Leekayer, Goyunwell, YaHoGa). As long as they are all size 5 they are generally interchangeable in my experience.

    I don't understand why you would put the Staples in there. You're stitching it so you shouldn't need to have it stapled it seems like an unnecessary step

    • @OKSew474
      @OKSew474  4 месяца назад +8

      Hi! Thanks for taking the time to watch! The staple is to hold the layers in place before you sew, as opposed to clips or pins. I find there is no sliding with the staples whereas with the other options sometimes the edges move apart when maneuvering under the presser foot. I remove the staples after I sew, they are temporary. It is of course optional if you don’t find it necessary to keep your layers together, I like to provide lots of different techniques so viewers can take & leave things as they wish. Happy sewing!
