I've talked my fair shit on metallica in my life, but Lars is nowhere near the Ringo of metal that people make him out to be... Stop listening to the black album and master of puppets like a good little pleb and turn on the ...And Justice for All. The drumming on that album is intense.

This was probably their most solid metal album. It is just pure riff driven angry thrash with a blend dark black metal music.

Hellhammer is definitely an amazing drummer, but Nick Barker and Inferno are my favorites.
I finally decided to give this music a try. I do have a strong Christian backround and im already a die-hard Death Metal fan. So I have 2 parts of my concious pulling on opposites of each other. One is telling me to go back to slow music and sunday morning church services and what-have-you, and the other is telling me to embrace this music and this lifestyle. Chossing between a lifetime of servitude for the promise of salvation, or I can finally feel alive once again. This music calls me home...

This is why this band is the best black metal band out there.
I wouldn't say they're the best...if anything...they're like Black Metal Lite because they follow Pop song structures (intro,verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, verse, chorus, outro). However because they're not all over the place...it makes them my favorite black metal band...cus imo most black metal tries too hard and is all over the place.....this band and Cradle of Filth are a nice balance...tho "Trvu Kvlt" Black Metal fans would tell you those two are the worst...and thats fine...cus we can all like whoever we want :D

Dariusz "Daray" Brzozowski is only their current live drummer. Tony Laureano was their former live drummer up until 2008 before being replaced by Daray., and the drummer in this video. I am a member of the cast in the video and can confirm this.

Once my daughter was like 4 and wouldn't eat her breakfast and I said "eat your breakfast or I'll put on death metal" (yeah I know it's not death metal, I was talking to a child) and she wouldn't eat, so I threw on this music video. A couple minutes in, she's eating, but not out of fear. She says "start it over!". Hell yeah.

That is indeed in real time. One of the, if not THE fastest double bass I've ever heard. Dimmu's drummer on this album is one of the most respected metal drummers ever. I get a bit sad at having to listen to a Dimmu Borgir song to hear him at his fastest, but whatever.

Already ten years have passed since this album came out.... I saw the band a year later, in 2008, at the Rock Am Ring festival. Despite not knowing this band beforehand, I got dragged along by my drunk friends. I never saw anything like it. So incredibly fast and melodic, and offcourse Vortex also blew me away. One of my first concerts at age 16. I'll never forget how there was an overload of pyrotechnics used in the indoor hall where they played (like, basically in every damn song) and how the airconditioning almost couldn't keep up disposing the heat and smoke, making the whole experience like being in some sort of loud and intense hellfire. It was actually a bit terrifying. Great memories tho, I've loved this band ever since.

A lot has been said about In Sorte Diaboli, it may not be as good or inspired as the previous ones, or the iconic 90s albums, but the musicianship is still incredible, and it's the last record where Dimmu Borgir sounded like themselves. End of an era really.
