That is a pure work of passion and a beauty to behold.... what a way to keep the Miggy not only alive but in your face 30+ years later. Mate I applaud you.
Rather bring it back with internal SSD and Flashable OS chip. Chips are much faster these days. Relying on floppy speeds today would be like watching a race between paint drying and your computer booting up. The only thing wrong with the old commodore product was they were managed by an idiot so they died on the vine. Had they the same backing that Macintosh or IBM computers had back then, they’d have a majority slice of the market today because they were so good at multi-tasking.
Nice color, all though it was difficult to tell on the video cover image. I actually thought the case was just yellowed at first glance. Dark red, dark orange or dark purple would’ve also looked excellent.
Thanks 😊 . Me too but yeah I'm really happy with it. Worked with a friend; he sprayed this one up in return for recapping and installing Amiga Games Selector + additional hardware on his A1200 Hulk (painted green 💚)
Very nice job! I'll be honest the yellow colour isn't for me for an Amiga, but you've done a lovely job of it with the pearlescent colour there. Love the Amiga music throughout too!
Wow, what an Amiga A500 you have there!!! Absolutely beautiful - I want one too lol. Massive applause to you for building this! I've got to also say this video is by far the best video I have watched on RUclips all week! You've just earned yourself a new Subscriber! ✨👍
Seeing this sort of thing really fascinates me. I wonder if it will ever be possible to replace the ASICs with newly manufactured recreations one day. In order to 100% make a new one with no original parts.
@nullsmack I doubt all of the IC's will be recreated. Looks like fpga h/w emulation is the way forward, keeping the Amiga experience alive, without genuine parts.
Not quite my cup of tea to be honest, but it is not hard to say that it is an excellent job still. And great to see that someone cares for the ECS chip set still. One little thing that really interested me was the VU meter to the left of the machine. Would it be possible to update the description with any details on that pretty please with sugar on top?
The biggest issue with these is the custom chips. If building these depletes the stocks of spares then ultimately it is counter-productive. For rebuilding an A500+ that's been destroyed by a leaking battery then the new PCBs are useful.
You don't expect an Amiga 500 Plus to look brand new and still have the Commodore logo with those adaptations! It's as if an agreement has been made with Commodore showing the B-52's and reverse engineering!
Old computer in new version, better server sparc, to play games better play station 5. I unknow this great old machine but beast in your time with games. Questions to buy much money?.😊
There was trace damage under Agnus that I also repaired on the donor and I managed to get the kickstart image up, however there were graphical glitches that kind of suggested one of the ECS ICs were faulty OR one memory chip was bad or Further trace damage. I was simply spending more time on fault finding than I wanted to. Then the idea of a new PCB grew on me.
Fresh pcb with a couple of design changes/fixes over the original, then new discrete and logic components. Original custom IC's used. A great project for an AMIGA fan, if you have a dead A500+ because of clock battery leakage + corrosion. This replacement PCB can bring it back to life. Add a modern accelaror, RGB to hdmi, SD based hard drive etc. , if you wish.

Just serviced it, it is Still working lovely. I now have an external gotek that plugs into the external floppy drive port and then a switch to set it as df0. So that has reduced the need to always use the floppy drive. I will add a spitfire accelerator eventually, which has an ide port. Therefore, I plan to add an SD2IDE interface and load the SD card with workbench, utilites and whdload games. Or just put AmigaGamesSelector on the SD card. Which will virtually make the internal floppy drive redundant, apart from nostalgia floppy loading. But I love the floppy 💾 drive. It is an integral part of the Amiga.

That is Mint, Always loved the Amiga, They were a Game changer when they came out. A lot of Great Games came with it. that is what sold it to people.
Spectacular paint job!!! that glitter! 🤩screw retro-brighting, this should be the way to go :D
Agreed, "RestoModding" beats 'RetroBrighting" hands down!
@@retro101gamer I'd have maybe tried a nice SGI-esque metallic purple. To match the PCB ;)
@@Aexomer purple and yellow are complementary 🥰
@Aexomer I would also love metallic candy apple green or red, Hot Rod style.
That case is beautiful.
i say bring back the Amiga 500 with floppy drive !!! in 2024 yes
Amiga floppy drives are extinct. You may have secondhand drive if you are willing to pay 100€ or more.

@@havocnchaos2182if you want to have a fast computer, buy a PC. This is a retro computer with retro speed and feel. That is the whole point.
@@havocnchaos2182 Definitely.
I'm a fan of the floppy, too. I'd pay a premium for a modern iteration of the old drive, along the lines of the LS-120 drives.
Impressed with that spray job.
Nice setup. Seeing the insert disc animation again really took me back!
awesome!
I appreciate how much passion and work you put in this computer! Congratulations! Great work, looks so beautiful!
Got to love how clean the A500++ looks.
Motherboard e case spettacolare,A500 unico!. opera d'arte!!
Thanks for sharing. I liked how you let the camera work do all the talking 🧑🎨

That custom 👌🏾 😍 design is beautiful , looks amazing
Good to see the 500 board has been updated. Mine has keyboard and ram issues but luckily got a very yellowed a600
Happy Amiga'ing! Get that A600 recapped if not already, also fix that A500 ASAP 👍😎
The A600 is a great little machine, got one new in 1993! Still have it, recapped and updated.
That is a thing of beauty. I'll buy it off you
Fantastic Paint Job
I normally hate these Amiga case spray paint jobs but this one looks amazing
Thanks 😊 . Me too but yeah I'm really happy with it. Worked with a friend; he sprayed this one up in return for recapping and installing Amiga Games Selector + additional hardware on his A1200 Hulk (painted green 💚)

Thanks for the comment. Yes, the colour is love or hate. But it is unique, that's for sure 😊. Spray job done by my pal W.Joyce
@@retro101gamer so a VERY NICE spray job painting, really. It seems professionally made.

Cool!!! Hello from Russia!
Question - can you build me one?? Still love the Amiga! Have 3 of these - 2 Pluses and a standard 500 - and a A600, too!
Could do

Yeah I only did it as the original pcb was kaputt. But plenty of A500+ kicking about before we all go fpga :) . All the best

My only criticism is of your misspelling of the word unnecessary. 😉
Cheers, now amended.
Hi, where can I find the Led vu-meter bar on the side of the A500?
Whats the track on the last ten seconds called??
Awesome! What is that LED bar you had sitting next to the case?

What did you do with the donor board? The damage on it is relatively minor, I have seen far worse repaired.
