Hello Trina, greetings from County Durham in the UK. I’ve just come across your channel this evening and I’ve watched quite a few already. Your style absolutely jives with me.
I’ve been painting in watercolours for around 50+ years but towards the beginning of the year, my wife, Sue died and I completely lost my mojo.
About 5 or 6 weeks ago I began painting again and to spur me on, I’ve begun watching watercolour RUclips videos. For quite a while now, I’ve been wanting to try mixed media watercolour painting and when I landed on your channel, it was as though I’d found my way home. So thank you Trina for helping to ignite an extra little spark in me, I’m really very grateful to you.
Vince, I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m excited that you have started painting again and found your mojo. Mixed media is so fun with watercolor and the possibilities are endless. Feel free to ask any questions you might have. Your comment made my day. Take care my friend. 😍
Thank you Trina, that’s very kind of you. I’d show you one or two pieces of mine - but don’t know how to (aren’t you glad 🤣).
Again, my friend - thank you.
@@vincefenton I would love to see your work. RUclips is adding to their community tab soon so we can share photos and discuss each other’s work. Stay tuned! 😍
I shall look out for that - then you’ll be sorry 😂
Five years ago, I retired from my post as Vicar - that meant finding a rental. We were very fortunate in finding a lovely house that has three floors. The top floor, Sue and I made into our craft room and studio.
We spent four wonderful years up there, working together on our different projects.
Sue was a stamper and was beginning to explore gelli printing, so I bought her lots of gelli pads and inks.
I’m wondering now, how I might use these in my watercolours - I’m sure there will be a way, so I shall explore your channel. Any advice you might be able to share would be gratefully appreciated.
Goodbye my friend.
🎨 Thanks for watching! Which new tool are you most excited to try in your abstract watercolor paintings? Let me know in the comments below! 👇 Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and share your favorite tips or tools for creating texture in your art. Happy painting! 🖌✨
I just saw your video and LOVE how you presented everything in a soothing voice. Yours is inviting people to stop in and visit. Thank you for this lovely painting tutorial. 🥰
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the video. 😍
Love how this turned out. The layers of aquapasto & textures from the tools & stamp really brought this to life. I love the vertical marks with the shaper most - they raise the area up & give it height. Perfect for landscapes. And it’s very “you” in style. It’s amazing how I can use many of your techniques & similar colours, but they turn out completely different to your style! My hand seems to interpret things very differently. And I don’t have a specific style 🤷♀️ No matter how much I create, I think if you put all my pieces in a room with some others, you’d be hard-pressed to pick which are mine 🤔 Whereas I could definitely pick yours I think. Did you develop that style in art school or just over time?
Thank you! That small color shaper was a good surprise with the Aquapasto. I love that you are using the techniques. As for my style, it has developed over time and continue to evolve. I love lines, texture and color. Everything else revolves around those concepts. Thanks for your insight my friend! 😍
Love the different textures in this Trina, with the stamp and the aquapasto, and especially where you made vertical marks back through the paint. I think you have def got the skies down, nice a simple. Loving it all! 🤩😍🤩
Thanks so much! I had a fun creating this one. I do feel like I have a grasp on the skies. Now how do I take it further?🤔😍
@@MixedMediaArtByTrina Hmmmm.. good question! I know you will find a way!
I like the combo of light and dark across the page. The front is nice, too. I really like all the horizontal lines.
Thanks so much! 😍
It has been a few days that I have got around to watching one of your videos and I was not disappointed with this one…just another one of your marvelous landscapes! You use that color shaper in an interesting way and I need to give that a try. Hope you had a wonderful weekend. 😊
I’m obsessed with that small color shaper. It’s so versatile. I played further in today’s video. Happy you liked it! 😍
very soothing work of art. I love earthy colors and I love this work!
@@janettepolt2815 thanks so much! 😍
I’m totally new to this whole mixed media ‘thing’. I’ve never painted before, so I am loving all this input. I’m keeping my pieces small, and experimenting … with EVERYTHING. Thank you for sharing your process. My favourite tools at the moment are my wax resists, aquapasto and my teeny-tiny 3 x 5.5” gel plate … ❤
Yes! I love that you are diving into creating. Have fun and keep creating! 😍
Love the Creative Process at work!
Thanks so much!😍
Really beautiful work. And your process is very inspiring and freeing. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! 😍
Love your art !!!
Thanks so much! 😍
BEAUTIFUL!
i didn' t catch what was the white crayon you used to make the marks at the beginning?
@@gicir19 I used the Caran d’Ache Neocolor I in white. You could also use a white crayon for the wax resist. 😍
@@MixedMediaArtByTrina thanks so.much for the info!
@@gicir19 you’re so welcome! 😍
What is the white crayon that you used please and thank you ? :)
It’s the Carand d’Ache Neocolor I crayon in white. You could also use any white wax crayon. 😍
Hi Trina, does the Sanguine have another name? Or is it a different brand by chance? I’ve been browsing Schminke colours on Jackson’s Art site & can’t find either the Sanguine nor the Port in any of the Schminke lines 😢
So the Sanguine came in a trio set called ‘Liquid Earth’ but Jackson’s also sells it individually as Liquid Earth Sanguine. The port color is a Graphitint from Derwent. It comes in a watercolor set or water soluble pencil. Hope that helps! 😍
Wowza! Did you feel me wince when you lifted the English red off and it left a spot? But you pulled that one back out of the fire with the darks and that passage really set the piece off! Kudos!
Haha! That red was a bad idea, however, I liked the sepia over it. Happy accident?! 😂😍
@@MixedMediaArtByTrina
Yes it was a Bob Ross moment 😂
@@swl9270 YES! My work here is done. 😂😂😂

Girl, I’m sure I made a stink face when I scrubbed that red off. 😳😂😂
